Wengert and Lottie Ward Wengert. Much of the material documents Lottie Ward's life in Iowa before her 1921 marriage to Wengert and ultimate move to Las Vegas. Biographical Note Civic leader Cyril S. Wengert, arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1907 as a teenager. He worked along side his father as an ice wagon driver. In 1921 Wengert married Lottie Ward of Iowa and the couple had five children. Wengert achieved prominence working for the Southern Nevada Power Company, where he worked until his death in The Wengert couple was involved in several Las Vegas civic organizations, including the American legion, the Rotary Club, the Elks Lodge, and the Knights of Columbus. In 1971 Cyril S. Wengert Elementary School was named in honor of his commitment to community service in Las Vegas. - Page 3-

4 Scope and Contents Note The Wengert Family Papers ( ) consist of clippings, correspondence, certificates, and scrapbooks detailing the lives of Las Vegas, Nevada pioneers Cyril S. Wengert and Lottie Ward Wengert. Much of the material documents Lottie Ward's life in Iowa before her 1921 marriage to Wengert and ultimate move to Las Vegas. The collection also contans two scrapbooks of family photographs from the 1920s. Arrangement Materials are arranged by topic. Administrative Information Access Collection is open for research.
