ABBREVIATIONS - K Knit - P Purl - K2tog Knit next two stitches together - Sl1 Slip next stitch onto needle - Psso Pass slipped stitch over next knitted stitch - StSt Stocking stitch (Knit 1 row, Purl 1 row) - Garter Stitch K every row - Cast off Cast off stitches using K unless specified otherwise - Kfb Knit front and back - For Reindeer: o SC Single crochet MATERIALS - Santa: Pink or Peach wool; White wool; Red wool; Black wool - Snowman: White wool; Any colour wool for Hat & Bobble; Orange wool; Black wool - Reindeer: Medium Brown wool; Dark Brown wool; White wool; Red wool; Black wool - For Santa & Snowman: 3mm Needles; 2.5cm Safety Pin (Optional); Small amount of Toy Stuffing; Tapestry Needle - For Reindeer: 1.75 Crochet Hook; Tapestry Needle; Small amount of Toy Stuffing

2 SANTA Head & Hat: - Using Pink or Peach, cast on 12 sts, leaving a long enough end for sewing up the back seam. - Row 1: K1, (K twice into next st) x 10, K1 (22 sts) - Rows 2-6: Beginning with a P row, StSt for 5 rows - Change to White for edging on hat. - Rows 7-10: K (garter stitch) - Change to Red for hat. - Row 11-14: Beginning with a K row, StSt for 4 rows. - Row 15: K3, Sl1, K1, Psso, K2tog, K3, Sl1, K1, Psso, K2tog, K3 (17 sts). - Row 16: P2tog (x4), P1, P2tog (x4) (9 sts) - Draw wool through sts leaving loose. - Cut off wool leaving a long end for closing up and option to sew on safety pin later. Eyes & Nose: - Eyes: Using Black, work 2 straight sts over the 10 th and 13 th sts on the last row of Santa s face, immediately below the garter st edging of Santa s hat. Tie off ends tightly at back. - Nose: Using Red, work 2 straight sts centrally between eyes but 3 rows below garter st edging. To make up: - Gather cast on sts and pull up tightly. Over sew firmly to close. - Using backstitch and keeping continuity of colour, sew up back seam, then lightly stuff with toy stuffing. - Pull up the loose sts at top of Hat tightly and over sew firmly. - Take wool through back of work to second row of hat (above garter st edging) - Over sew fixed arm of safety pin in place centrally. Hat Bobble: - Using White, cast on 12 sts. - Row 1: P (this is the right side) - Cast off using K. - With right side on the outside, roll up the work from one short edge to the other. - Over sew the short edge to the rolled up work. - Gather the cast off edge and pull up tightly. Over sew edges to close end. - Gather the cast on edge and pull up tightly then sew top of hat. Santa s Beard - Using White, cast on 2 sts. - Working garter st throughout, K 7 rows increasing 1 st at each end of every row (16 sts) - Row 8-9: K - Row 10: K1, K2tog (x7), K1 (9 sts) - Cast off. - Sew beard onto face along cast off edge and side of last 2 rows, beginning and ending 2 rows below garter st edging of hat and forming a curve below Santa s nose.

3 SNOWMAN Head: - Using White, cast on 12 sts, leaving a long enough end for sewing up the back seam. - Row 1: K1, K twice into next st (x10), K1 (22 sts) - Rows 2-6: Beginning with a P row, StSt for 5 rows - Change to colour for Hat. - Rows 7-10: K (garter stitch) - Rows 11-14: Beginning with a K row, StSt for 4 rows. - Row 15: K3, S1, K1, Psso, K2tog, K3, K2tog, K3, S1, K1, Psso, K2tog, K3 (17 sts) - Row 16: P2tog (x4), P1, P2tog (x4), (9sts) - Drw wool through sts leaving loose. - Cut off wool leaving a long end for closing up and option to sew on safety pin later. Nose: - Using Orange, cast on 6 sts. - Row 1: Sl1, K1, Psso, K2tog (x2), (3 sts) - Draw wool through sts and pull tightly to fasten off. - Over sew row edges. - Place nose centrally between eyes, over 3 rd and 4 th row below garter st edging of Hat and over sew cast on edge to Snowman s face.

4 REINDEER Face - Using Medium Brown, cast on 9 sts. - Row 1: K1, (Kfb, K1) to end - Row 2: P - Row 3: K1, (Kfb, K1) to end - Row 4: P12 Brown, P1 White, P12 Brown - Row 5: K11 Brown, K3 White, K11 Brown - Row 6: P10 Brown, P5 White, P10 Brown - Row 7: K11 Brown, K3 White, K11 Brown - Row 8: P12 Brown, P1 White, P12 Brown - Row 9: Using Brown, K1, (K2tog, K4) to end - Row 10: P - Row 11: K - Row 12: P - Row 13: K1, (K2tog, K3) to end - Row 14: P - Row 15: K1, (K2tog) to end - Draw together and sew back, lightly stuff with toy stuffing Ears: - Using Medium Brown cast on 9 sts - Cast off - Fold in half and sew seam - Sew onto either side of head Antlers (make 2) (optional): - Using Dark Brown make 2 short pieces: o 1: Magic ring, sc 4 o 2-5: sc 4 o Fasten off with long thread. - Again using Dark Brown make 2 long pieces: o 1: Magic ring, sc 4 o 2-8: sc 4 o Fasten off with long thread. - Sew the shorter piece to the longer piece as shown to make antler shape. Repeat for second antler.
