Tips for Folding Crafts: To make it easy to remember how to fold: Dotted Lines - Pull the dotted lines towards you as you fold them. Dashed Lines - Poke the dashed lines away from you as you fold them. Tabs - Tabs usually fold back to go behind the picture. See each craft instruction. Craft Supplies - Suggestions and Tips Craft knife or Utility knife These are usually found at any craft store or large department store. I suggest using one with a retractable blade or snap-off blade. Read all safety instructions.
Glue (Extra strength) I do not recommend using school glue, as it is too wet and will make the pages bumpy when it dries (unless its the stick type). Most regular glue don't stick well enough for pop-ups. You'll need an extra-strength type. Here are two that I have found that work well. Other brands of extra strength glue would probably work well also: Elmer's All Purpose Glue Stick Elmer's Washable School Glue Stick - Disappearing Purple Cardstock Cardstock is heavier, sturdier paper used to make cards. You can get it at any large department store or office supply store. Also, Amazon has several choices. You will need white for these pop-ups. Self-healing Cutting Mat These are plastic cutting mats that protect furniture. Restickable or Repositionable Glue Sticks Scotch and Elmer's brands both make various types of restickable or repositionable glue. Look for ones that are non-toxic. You can also use regular glue for stickers as well. Creation Pop-up Crafts Creation Day 1 Pop-up Craft - God Made the Light! Supplies: Completed Animal Wheel Craft (one craft for each group of four children). Different colors of construction paper (to match your completed Animal Craft). Dice Animal Activity Using Animal Wheel Craft Prep: Cut one 2-3" circle (or square) of each color to match the color of the the circles on your completed craft. Activity: Have children sit in groups of four. Give the completed craft and the dice to one child. Give the circles to the other three children to hold. How to Do the Activity: The child with the dice rolls the dice, then moves the dial and counts the animals until he/she gets to the number on the dice. Then she says a color that one of the children in the group is holding. The teacher reads the question in that color (on the craft). For example, if the child says yellow, you read, "What sound does that animal make?". The child with that color answers the question. The child continues saying the other colors one at a time, letting the child who is holding that color answer the question. Then the children each pass what they are holding to the left. Continue on in the same way until all of the children have had a chance to throw the dice and turn the wheel.
Supplies: Extra Animal Stickers from Animal Wheel Craft Prizes for kids Scissors (for adult) Glue Construction paper Creation Game Using Extra Animal Stickers - Animal Tic Tac Toe Prep: Cut out the Animal stickers. On a blank sheet of paper, using a ruler, draw a Tic-tac-toe game card frame (big enough to fit an animal sticker in each square). Draw it so that you will have three rows and three columns side by side. Keep one set of animals for the leader to hold up. Glue an animal sticker in each square, making each card different, placing the animals on different places on the game cards. Cut squares of the same size out of construction paper, enough to cover all of the squares on the game cards. How to Play Animal Tic Tac Toe: Give each child one game card and nine construction paper squares. To play, hold up the animal stickers, one after the other. If the child has that animal on their game card, they cover it with a blank square of construction paper. When they get three in a row covered (either horizontally, vertically or diagonally) they hold up their hand. They win that round and get a prize. You can continue on in the same way holding up animals one at a time and letting the children continue covering the same game cards until the next person gets three in a row, and so on. Make sure you have enough prizes on hand to give some to the children who didn't win. Have adults or teens assisting young children. Terms and Conditions: This is a copyrighted resource.
