Patchwork Playdates is for preschool children ages 5 and under accompanied by an adult. If you or someone you know would like to be on the Playdates Newsletter mailing list or for more information about the program, call our office at 349-3216. 2018 Extension Homemaker Scholarships are now available for pickup at the Extension Office, MCHS Counselor s Office, and on the Magoffin County Cooperative Extension webpage listed on the 4-H page. Ovarian Cancer Screenings @ Markey Cancer Center Tuesday, April 17th (Call the Extension Office to reserve your spot) Extension Homemaker Scholarship Deadline Monday, April 30, 2018 2018 KEHA State Meeting May 7-9, 2018 @ Louisville Iyyton Hippie Chx The Ivyton Hippie Chx is on a break from their meetings the months of January and February. Their monthly meetings will resume on Tuesday, March 13th @ 6 P.M. at the Extension Office. New members are always welcome. Invite some friends and come join the fun! Pleasant Hill Area Homemakers The Pleasant Hill Area Homemakers last met on January 22nd @ 6 P.M. Tim & Debbie Cain instructed a wooden quilt block painting class. Members also talked about Friendship Quilters The Friendship Quilters met on January 12th & January 26th. On the 12th the group planned to have a series of Cultural Arts skills days beginning in January. On January 24th, volunteers were on hand to teach participants how to hem a pair of pants. These skills days will continue every Wednesday from 10 AM-2 PM through February, 21st. The Friendship Quilters will next meet on Friday, February 9th & 23rd. New members are welcome to attend. our International Project we will be doing to make simple cotton shorts for children of Nicaragua. Our next meeting will be Monday, February 19th @ 6 P.M. @ Emmanuel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. We plan to continue to work on our wooden quilt blocks since we didn t get to finish them. There s always room for more so invite your friends to join. BIG AND LITTLE CLUB Sew-What Quilters The Sew What Quilters met January 20th. Susie Hueseman taught a lesson on fabric dying. The group will meet again on Saturday, February 10th @ 9 AM at the Extension Office. Those participating in the Quilt Challenge will bring their blocks to this meeting. Quilt Challenge Block: Choose a block you ve never made before. Fabric 1: Represent your favorite season. Fabric 2: A fabric you d like to get rid of from your stash. For information The BIG & little Club met on Thursday, January 11th @ 6 P.M. at the Extension Office. Members painted a family tree using their hand as the tree trunk. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday February 8th at 6 P.M. Members will be doing a hand mold project. The group is for all ages. The purpose is to have an adult/youth do an activity together, have lots of fun, and make memories that will last a lifetime! In cases of in climate weather and school is cancelled, the group will not meet. BIG & little Homemakers painting class. about the Sew What Quilters call our office at 349-3216. Fabric dyed by the Sew What Quilters. Quilters Day Out! Quilt Guild members, don t forget to register for Quilters Day Out at Floyd County. Deadline for registration is Friday, March 2nd.
