Making the Quilt 1. Sew the strips together and trim to make (1) 85 x 89 backing. Block Assembly Sew (1) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric A strip lengthwise to make (1) BAB strip set (Diagram 1). Fabric E Cut (3) 3 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strip into (34) 3 ½ squares. Cut (15) 1 ½ x WOF strips. 2. Cut the BAB strip set into (6) 1 ½ x 3 ½ BAB strips (Diagram 2). Fabric F Cut (4) 3 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strip into (42) 3 ½ squares. Cut (17) 1 ½ x WOF strips. 3. Sew (1) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric A strip to each side of (1) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric B strip lengthwise to make (1) ABA strip set (Diagram 3). Cut (24) 1 ½ x WOF strips. Fabric I Cut (7) 3 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strip into (74) 3 ½ squares. Cut (11) 1 ½ x WOF strips. Cut (8) 2 ½ x WOF strips for the binding. Sew the strips together to make (22) Block Threes (Diagram 7). Repeat Steps 1-5 using (8) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric D strips and (7) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric E strips to make (60) DED strips and (30) EDE strips. Sew the strips together to make (30) Block Fours (Diagram 8). Repeat Steps 1-5 using (8) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric E strips and (7) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric F strips to make (76) EFE strips and (38) FEF strips. Sew the strips together to make (38) Block Fives (Diagram 9). 10. Repeat Steps 1-5 using (10) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric F strips and (8) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric G strips to make (92) FGF strips and (46) GFG strips. Sew the strips together to make (46) Block Sixes (Diagram 10). 11. Repeat Steps 1-5 using (10) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric G strips and (8) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric C strips to make (108) GCG strips and (54) CGC strips. Sew the strips together to make (54) Block Sevens (Diagram 11). Repeat Steps 1-5 using (13) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric H strips and (11) 1 ½ x WOF Fabric I strips to make (140) HIH strips and (70) IHI strips. Sew the strips together to make (70) Block Nines (Diagram 13). Block Nine make 70 H I H I H I H I H Diagram 13 Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout when assembling the quilt top.) 14. Sew the assorted 3 ½ squares and Blocks 1-9 together into 38 diagonal rows as shown in the quilt layout. Row 1 and Row 38 are single 3 ½ Fabric I squares. Note that the outside unit on each end of each row is a 3 ½ Fabric I square. The number of units in each row increases by two each time up to 37 units in the middle two rows. The diagonal rows are sewn together and then trimmed to 76 ½ x 80 ¾ to make the quilt top. Finishing the Quilt 15. Layer and quilt as desired. 16. 17. Sew the (8) 2 ½ x WOF Fabric I strips together, end to end with a 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. Bind as desired.
