BCI General Specifications Design: BCI Steel Cantilever Shelving - System 60/30 SH1.0 General SH1.0.1 All finished surfaces shall be free of scratches, marks, dents or blemishes, and exhibit no flaking, cracking or loss or adhesion. SH1.0.2 Shelving shall have smooth finishes with no hazardous projections, sharp corners or detail which can be hazardous and cause personal injury or damage to clothing. SH1.1 Specific SH1.1 Steel shelving shall be of a cantilever design with structural units in the form of welded tubular columns and base feet providing maximum column rigidity and minimizing stack movement. SH1.1.2 In addition to any warranty implied by fact or law, the Bidder expressly warrants all items to be new, free from defects in design, materials and workmanship, and be fit and sufficient for intended purpose. Any sample or model that is submitted shall create an express warranty that the whole of the goods shall conform to the sample or model. SH1.1.3 All steel components shall be rendered residue-free and covered with an electrostatically applied, thermo-hardened, epoxy powder paint that is 50 60 microns thick. SH1.1.4 All steel components shall be available in eighteen standard colors, 160 non-standard colors and custom color match by NCS color system. SH1.1.5 Finish test results shall be submitted for evaluation. SH1.1.6 The use of transverse top-tie bracing, floor anchors, wall mounts, sway bracing, or any other added structural apparatus is prohibited, U.O.N. SH1.1.7 All of the following specified components shall be available as standard products and shall either be required upon initial delivery or shall be added once the initial installation has been complete. SH1.2 System 90 Tubular Vertical Columns SH1.2.1 Upright tubular columns shall be formed of not less than #14 gauge rectangular tubular steel with a cross section of 1-3/16" x 2-3/8" and have a single row of shelf mounting holes at 1 inch intervals. SH1.2.2 Upright column shall include provision for addition of a 12" extender for installation of one or two additional shelves. Column extenders must be capable of being installed without use of tools or any dismantling of pre-installed components. SH1.2.3 Upright columns shall accept a wood end panel attached by BCI or others with end panel fittings that integrate into the existing crossbar placement slots and/or suspended from the canopy bracket on the exposed end(s) of the range.

SH1.2.4 Code 2 upright columns shall be produced from 14 gauge steel tube, measuring 1-3/16" x 3-3/16 and have a single row of shelf mounting holes at 1-inch intervals. This particular column size meets zone 3 seismic requirements with the use of floor and wall anchors only. All other specifications listed above are applicable. SH1.2.5 Regarding lateral deflection, the uprights with one side under shelf load of 150 pounds per shelf at 90 high should not exceed 28/64 end deflection and center deflection not exceeding 40/64. When both sides are loaded with the end deflection shall be 0 and maximum center deflection of 8/64. SH1.2.6 Regarding longitudinal deflection of the upright under horizontal pull, the deflection at 48 from the finished floor shall not exceed 6/64. SH1.3 System 90 Tubular Horizontal Upright Column SH1.3.1 Tubular base feet shall be formed of not less than #14 gauge rectangular tubular steel with a cross section of 1-3/16" x 2-3/8". Base foot shall be welded to upright column with a full 5-1/8" bead. SH1.3.2 Each foot shall be fitted with two, 2" diameter leveling glides shall also accept a 4" caster allowing some range to be converted to a mobile shelving unit. SH1.3.3 The end openings in the base feet are to be fitted with a removable plastic cap matching the paint finish. SH1.3.4 Base feet are to be fully finished, allowing for the removal of the base shelf and use of the stack as an open base unit. SH1.3.5 Code 2 tubular base feet shall be formed of not less than #11 gauge rectangular tubular steel with a cross section of 1-3/16" x 3-3/16". Base foot shall be welded to upright column with a full 8-5/8" bead. This particular column size meets zone 3 seismic requirements with the use of floor and wall anchors only. All other specifications listed above are applicable. SH1.4 Base Plates SH1.4.1 Base plates shall be or #19 gauge folded steel plate, 2-3/8" x 9/16". Removal of the base plate shall not adversely affect the finished appearance of the unit from which it is removed, or adjacent units. SH1.4.2 Installation or removal of the base plate shall not require tools, nor shall it require replacement of existing parts. SH1.4.3 Base plates shall be available as a standard product to accommodate (1.3/16 x 3.3/16 ) upright foot. SH1.5 System 90 Crossbars SH1.5.1 Crossbars shall be constructed from 16-gauge, cold-rolled, steel plate. The profile of the crossbar, consisting of two pieces of steel, makes a complete tube with ten 90-degree bends and measures 1-5/8" x 3-7/8". SH1.5.2 Four self-locking clips, which insert into the upright slots, are supplied at each end of the crossbar. SH1.5.3 All double-faced stack units, if 84" or higher, shall be supplied with three crossbars per section. All crossbar bracing shall be in the same horizontal plane as the shelves. No diagonal bracing is acceptable. SH1.5.4 All crossbar profiles shall allow for the installation of intermediate panels without the use of tools. SH1.5.5 No modification or deviation to center crossbar model vs. standard top/bottom crossbar model shall not be accepted, nor shall any of the crossbars be turned 180 degrees to accept intermediate panels.

SH1.6 Shelf Brackets SH1.6.1 All component brackets shall be constructed of 16-gauge steel. Flush brackets shall be available to allow for the creation of unobstructed flat shelves. SH1.6.2 Shelf brackets shall have a minimum of three integral bonnets with a maximum of six integral bonnets. SH1.6.3 Standard brackets shall be formed to 1" high, with 180 degree bending to support shelf end flange. SH1.6.4 Single-sided shelf brackets shall be free from unnecessary embossments and adornments and shall have no holes or perforations that shall preclude exposing the brackets as a finished product. SH1.6.5 Shelf brackets for reference shelving shall be single-sided, 8" high. SH1.6.6 Shelf brackets for pullout reference shelving shall be 3" high x 9" or 12", completely flat. SH1.6.7 Shelf brackets for paperback shelving shall be 8"high x 8" deep, completely flat. SH1.6.8 Shelf brackets for standard shelves with back edge shall be either 8" high or 6" high and the desired depth. SH1.6.9 Compact Disc shelf brackets shall be 6" high x 8" deep. SH1.7 Canopy Tops SH1.7.1 Canopy tops shall be #19 gauge steel that includes six 90-degree bends. SH1.7.2 All canopy tops shall be reversible (able to turn 180 degrees). SH1.7.3 The dual front edge shall be 2" height with a built-in signage profile provided on one side and a 2" high finished edge on the other. SH1.8 Standard Shelves SH1.8.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. All shelves shall support book loads of 150 pounds per square foot without deflection in excess of 8/64". SH1.8.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.8.3 The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" high, tri-fold 90-degree bend. The rear edge of all standard shelves shall be upturned 2", forming a built-in shelf backstop, which has a 180-degree bend. SH1.8.4 The upper edge of the shelf backstop shall be formed with a 3/8" high hemmed rail designed to accept a sliding, chrome back edge book support. SH1.8.5 The backstop 2" upturn shall be continuous without any cutouts at either end. SH1.8.6 All standard shelves shall be equipped with one sliding back edge book supports. SH1.8.7 Shelf ends shall be formed down 11/16" to engage shelf plate brackets. SH1.8.8 A transparent acrylic label holder measuring 1" high x 9" wide shall be offered optionally as an individual shelf sign.

SH1.9 Back Edge Book Support SH1.9.1 Back edge book supports shall be produced with 1/4" diameter chrome plated wire, with an attached highly durable, self-locking nylon fitting that connects to the 2" high shelf back lip. SH1.9.3 Available dimensions shall be as follows: 6" high x 9" deep, 6" high x 12" deep, and 10" high x 12" deep. SH1.10 Front Edge Book Support SH1.10.1 The front edge book support shall constructed from a powder coated steel band that measures 1/2", with an attached highly durable, rubberized fitting that glides along the tri-bend front edge of any shelf. SH1.10.2 Available dimensions shall be as follows: 12" high x 9" deep, and 12" high x 12" deep. SH1.11 Right-Angle Book Support SH1.11.1 The right-angle book support shall be constructed from a powder coated, 18-gauge steel plate bend at a 90-degree angle. SH1.11.2 Available dimensions shall be as follows: 6" high x 6" wide x 6" deep. SH1.12 Universal Shelf SH1.12.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate with perforated holes and thumbnut and bolts for easy repositioning of adjustable back edge. SH1.12.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.12.3 The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" high, tri-fold 90-degree bend. The rear edge of all universal shelves shall be upturned 2", forming a built-in shelf backstop, which has a 180- degree bend. The additional back edge strip can be adjusted for different size media. SH1.12.4 The additional back edge strip can be adjusted for different size media varying from 5", 6", 7", 8", 10", and 11". SH1.12.5 The upper edge of the shelf backstop shall be formed with a 3/8" high hemmed rail designed to accept a sliding, chromium plated, 1/4" diameter wire book support consisting of a nylon runner assembly and a 1/4" diameter chrome wire support. SH1.12.6 Shelf ends shall be formed down 11/16" to engage shelf plate brackets. SH1.12.7 A transparent acrylic label holder measuring 1" high x 9" wide shall be offered optionally as an individual shelf sign. SH1.12.8 Available depths shall be 9" and 12" actual. SH1.13 Combination Universal Shelf SH1.13.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate with perforated holes for individual adjustable back edge strips and slots for adjustable dividers. This shelf shall allow storage of videotapes, cassette tapes, compact disc's, etc. within the same desired space and shelf. SH1.13.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. Overall depth = 9". SH1.13.3 The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" dimension. The rear edge of all combination universal shelves shall be upturned 5" forming a built-in shelf backstop.

SH1.13.4 The back edge shall have two slots, and the shelf surface shall have one slot to accommodate each divider plate. The unit shall have several positions available for the divider plates that relate to the available widths of the back edge plates. SH1.13.5 Slots shall be punched 11/16" long x 5/64" wide, vertically on the edge, and from front the back on the shelf surface. The two rows of slots in the back edge shall be centered at 1-13/16" and 4-23/32" from the shelf surface respectively. The slots in the shelf surface shall be centered at 1-3/16" from the front edge of the shelf. SH1.13.6 Each divider shall be the same specified depth as the shelf and shall be equipped with two bonnets and one lug. SH1.13.7 The available back edge strips widths are as follows: 3-1/2", 5-1/2", 7-1/2", 9-7/16", 11-3/8", 13-3/8", 15-3/8" and 17-5/16". SH1.14 Mobile Divider Shelf SH1.14.1 Mobile divider shelves shall be constructed vertically from 16-gauge steel and horizontally from 19 gauge steel plate. SH1.14.2 The overall dimension s for the mobile divider shelf shall be 15-3/4" high x 36" wide x 15-3/4 deep. SH1.14.3 The mobile divider shelf shall consist of a 15-3/4"deep bottom shelf with back edge, side panel brackets that include the appropriate mechanism that stabilizer the 7/8" diameter rod that supports the dividers, and five 1" thick x 15-3/4" high x 15-3/4" deep dividers. SH1.15 Divided Reference Shelves SH1.15.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. All shelves shall support book loads of 75 pounds per square foot without deflection in excess of 3/16". SH1.15.2 Divided reference shelves shall be available in the following sizes: 8" x 36" x 9", 8" x 36" x 12", 8"x 39" x 9", and 8" x 39" x 12". SH1.15.3 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.15.4 The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" dimension. The rear edge of all standard shelves shall be upturned 6-13/16" forming a built-in shelf backstop. SH1.15.5 The back edge shall have two slots, and the shelf surface shall have one slot to accommodate each divider plate. The unit shall have nineteen positions available for the divider plates. The shelf shall have the capability of being divided equally into two, three, four, five and eighteen compartments or as needed by using a combination of the available slots. SH1.15.6 Slots shall be punched 11/16" long x 5/64" wide, vertically on the back edge, and from front to back on the shelf surface. The two rows of slots in the back edge shall be centered at 1-13/16" and 5-23/32 from the shelf surface respectively. The slots in the shelf surface shall be centered a 1-3/16" from the front edge of the shelf. SH1.15.7 Each divider shall be the same specified depth as the shelf and shall be equipped with two bonnets and one lug.

SH1.16 Pull-out Reference Shelf SH1.16.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. SH1.16.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. The pullout shelf should fully extend and lock in place at 8" beyond shelving face. SH1.16.3 The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" dimension. The rear edge of all pullout shelves shall be without an upturned back edge. SH1.16.4 Shelves shall have a 1-7/16" long x 3/8" wide notch cut at each end of the back of the shelf to accommodate a ball-bearing glide mechanism, which the shelf rides on. SH1.16.5 Shelves shall have 13/16" diameter x 11/16" long socket spacers (two at each end) located 1-3/4" from the ends; 3/4" from the back; and a 4-9/16" from the front of the shelf. SH1.16.6 Ball-bearing glides shall be mounted to two socket spacers with 5/16" 32 x 1/4" long UNEF screws, with the plate to shelf length 9-7/16" wide, bent up on each long edge, and heavily spot-welded to 3" high plate brackets. SH1.17 Paperback Shelves SH1.17.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. SH1.17.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.17.3 The shelf shall be one piece, one tier accordion fold shelving, welded to integrated side panel and bracket pieces with six bonnets per bracket. SH1.17.4 Front and top edges shall be U-bent for stability. Front edge of shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" dimension. SH1.17.5 Cross section of shelf shall slope towards the back at 79 degrees for a depth of 4-13/16", then bend 90 degrees for a height of 8", then bend 281 degrees for a depth of 1-9/16", and finally 90 degrees downward for 5/16". SH1.17.6 Shelf surface shall be welded to 9" deep shelf brackets. SH1.17.7 Paperback shelves shall accommodate media display by cover or title. SH1.18 Video Tape Shelves SH1.18.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. SH1.18.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.18.3 The shelf shall be one piece, one tier accordion fold shelf, welded to integrated side panel and bracket pieces with six bonnets per bracket. SH1.18.4 Front and top edges shall be "U" bent for stability. The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" height dimension. SH1.18.5 Cross section of the shelf shall slope towards the back at 79 degrees for a depth of 4-13/16", then bend 90 degrees for a height of 8", then bend 281 degrees for 1-9/16", and finally 90 degrees downward for 5/16". SHJ1.18.6 Shelf surface shall be welded to 9" deep shelf brackets. SH1.18.7 Videotape shelves shall accommodate media display by cover or title.

SH1.19 Zigzag Display for Paperback/Video SH1.19.1 Zigzag display for paperbacks and/or videotapes shall be constructed from 19-gauge steel. SH1.19.2 The zigzag display shall include eleven 90-degree bends with support bracing holding the 36" wide proportion. SH1.19.3 The display shall rest upon a flat shelf or the paperback/video shelf. SH1.19.4 Running along the support bracing, either magnates or anti-skid pads are provided to stabilize the display to the shelf used. SH1.20 Compact Disc Shelves SH1.20.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. SH1.20.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.20.3 The shelf shall be one piece, one tier accordion fold shelf, welded to integrated side panel and bracket pieces with six bonnets per bracket and four removable dividers spaced equally on the shelf. SH1.20.4 Front and top edges shall be "U" bent for stability. The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" height dimension. SH1.20.5Cross section of the shelf shall slope towards the back at 80 degrees for a depth of 6", then bend 90 degrees, for a height of 6", then bend 280 degrees for 1-9/16", and finally 90 degrees onward for 5/16". SH1.20.6 Shelf surface shall be welded to shelf brackets. SH1.20.7 Compact Disc shelves shall accommodate media display by cover or title. SH1.21 Multiple Uses Audio Visual Shelves SH1.21.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. SH1.21.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.21.3 Overall dimensions shall be 6" high x 36" wide x 9" deep with useable-sloped shelf depth being 6". SH1.21.4 The shelf shall be one piece, one tier accordion fold shelf, welded to integrated side panel and bracket pieces with six bonnets per bracket and four removable dividers spaced equally on the shelf. SH1.21.5 Front and top edges shall be "U" bent for stability. The front edge of the shelf shall be a box formation with a 1" height dimension. SH1.21.6 Cross section of the shelf shall slope towards the back at 80 degrees for a depth of 6", then bend 90 degrees, for a height of 6", then bend 280 degrees for 1-9/16", and finally 90 degrees downward for 5/16". SH1.21.7 Shelf surface shall be welded to shelf brackets. SH1.21.8 shelf shall accommodate material displayed by cover or title. SH1.22 Cassette Shelves SH1.22.1 Shelves shall be of #19 gauge steel plate. SH1.22.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.22.6 Shelf surface shall be welded to shelf brackets. SH1.22.7 Cassette shelves shall accommodate media display by cover or title. SH1.23 Signage Profiles for Audio Visual SH1.23.1 Signage display profiles that hook directly into the shelving increments are produced from 19 gauge steel plate with welded three bonnet brackets produced from 16-gauge steel. SH1.23.2 The profile shall measure 3" high x 36" wide x 1-9/16" deep. SH1.23.3 Three titles are available as standard; Audio Cassette, Video Tape, and Compact Disc. The labels supplied are black vinyl with upper and lower case letters. SH1.24 Display Profiles for Audio Visual SH1.24.1 Display profiles that hook directly into the shelving increments are produced from 19 gauge steel plate with welded bonnet brackets produced from 16-gauge steel. The videotape display shall include 7 bonnets, the compact disc display shall include 6 bonnets and the cassette display shall include 5 bonnets. SH1.24.2 The profiles shall measure 36" wide x 1-9/16" deep with various overall heights as follows: Video Tape profile = 9-49/64" overall. Compact Disc profile = 6-13/16" overall. Audio Cassette profile = 5-53/64" overall. SH1.24.3 Capacities for the displays shall be as follows: Video Tape profile = 6 tapes by cover each. Compact Disc profile = 6 disc's by cover each. Audio Cassette profile = 12 tapes by cover each. SH1.25 Browse Boxes SH1.25.1 Browse Boxes should be constructed vertically of 16 gauge steel plate and horizontally of 19 gauge steel plate. SH1.25.2 The browse box shall be of knockdown construction. SH1.25.3 Every browse box should include a removable corrugated rubber mat covering the bottom to ensure slippage resistance of the media. SH1.25.4 All browser boxes should offer front visibility of the media stored. SH1.25.5 Partitions for the browse boxes shall individually separate the appropriate media stored and adjustable. SH1.25.6 The browse box dividers shall be chromium plated. SH1.25.7 Three basic models shall be available; the dimensions of these models are as follows: 4" high x 36" wide x 12" deep single-tier. 8" high x 36" wide x 15-3/4" deep single-tier. 8" high x 36" wide x 15-3/4" deep double-tier.

SH1.26 Media Hanger Bar SH1.26.1 The media hanger bar shall integrate into the shelving system, with bags or files either by the shelving system source or by other. SH1.26.2 The brackets of the hanger bar shall be constructed of 16 gauge steel plate. SH1.26.3 The rods or bars consist of a 7/8" diameter steel round tube for support and a 1/4" or 7/8" diameter steel round tube for suspended the hangers. SH1.26.4 Media Hanger shall support various media, such as, oblique files and audiovisual material. SH1.27 Mobile Periodical Display Shelf SH1.27.1 Mobile periodical display shelves shall be molded from Lexan acrylic that is scratch resistant and available in white only. SH1.27.2 Mobile periodical display shelves dimensions shall be 3/16" thick x 10-1/4" high x 28-1/2" wide. SH1.27.3 Mobile periodical display shelf shall have an incline of 60 degrees with a 90 degree, 1-1/2" lip for the material to rest on. SH1.27.4 The mobile periodical display shelf shall rest upon a 36" wide x 12" deep or 30" wide x 12" deep standard steel flat shelf. SH1.27.5 The mobile periodical display shelf shall be stackable for storage purposes. SH1.28 Periodical Shelves SH1.28.1 Shelves shall be of 19 gauge, steel plate with a 2" high front edge that forms a 90-degree bend for materials to rest on. SH1.28.2 All shelf dimensions specified are actual and not nominal. SH1.28.3 All Sloping shelves shall be available with 30 degree or 45 degree brackets. SH1.28.4 Optionally, a hinged transparent panel(s) can be supplied. SH1.29 Hinged Periodical Shelf SH1.29.1 Hinged Periodical Shelves shall be constructed vertically of 16 gauge steel plate, and horizontally constructed of 19 gauge steel plate. SH1.29.2 The shelves should include; a flat bottom shelf, a tip-up sloping display shelf, and side panel brackets with appropriate mechanisms allowing the sloped display shelf to lift to a horizontal position. SH1.29.3 Two overall dimensions shall be available, offering economy storage. The following are the dimensions of the models available; 8" high x 36" wide x 15-3/4" deep and 8" high x 36" wide x 12" deep. SH1.29.4 Optionally, a hinged transparent panel(s) can be supplied.

SH1.30 Tip-up Periodical Cabinets SH1.30.1 Tip-up Periodical Cabinets shall be constructed vertically of 16 gauge steel plate, and horizontally constructed of 19 gauge steel plate. SH1.30.2 The cabinet should include; a canopy top, bottom shelf which is either a flat shelf or divided shelf with three adjustable dividers equally spaced, a tip-up sloping display shelf, and side panels with appropriate mechanisms allowing full insertion of the display shelf into the cabinet. SH1.30.3 Overall dimensions shall be 15-3/4" high x 36" wide x 15-3/4" deep, offering 12-1/4" high inside storage. SH1.30.4 Optionally, a hinged transparent panel(s) can be supplied. SH1.31 Storage Cabinets SH1.31.1 The steel cabinets for file or media tray storage shall be constructed vertically of 16 gauge steel plate, and horizontally constructed of 19 gauge steel plate. SH1.31.2 The cabinet should completely enclosed and including; a canopy top, a bottom shelf, a back panel, an inserting door with lock, side panel brackets with appropriate mechanism allowing full insertion of the door into the cabinet, and either one or two fully extendible pull-out frames for storage. SH1.31.3 Fully extendible pullout frames for files shall allow for Pendaflex suspended files for letter or legal sized papers. SH1.31.4 Overall dimensions shall be 15-3/4" high x 36" wide x 15-3/4" deep. SH1.32 Steel Cabinets with Sliding Glass Door SH1.32.1 Steel Cabinets shall be constructed vertically from 16-gauge steel, and horizontally from 19 gauge steel plate. SH1.32.2 The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 36" wide x 12" deep. The offered heights include: 36-1/2" with two fixed shelves, 48-1/4" with three fixed shelves, 60" with four fixed shelves, and 71-7/8" with five fixed shelves. SH1.32.3 All horizontal components shall be spaced at 12" on center. SH1.32.4 All cabinets shall include a canopy top and a base shelf that attaches the side panel brackets securely together. SH1.32.5 Both the canopy and the base shelf shall include glides for the glass doors. The base shelf rails shall provide a built-in lock. The sliding glass doors shall be 3/16" thick tempered glass. SH1.32.6 Interior fixed shelves shall be 10" deep and shall include a back edge for the optional sliding book support. SH1.33 Light Fixture SH1.33.1 The shell shall fit within a 36" shelving module with a minimum height-shelving frame to be 84". SH1.33.2 The light fixture shall consist of a 1 x 20 Watt, 110V. 60Hz., KL. 1, IP-20. UL approved fluorescent light fixture as file E101025, project 86TA316, issued #332960. SH1.33.3 The fixture shall be suitable for damp locations, as specified by UL. SH1.33.4 The fluorescent tube shall be T824-15W or equal. SH1.33.5 The actual light reflector shall be offered as an asymmetrical or symmetrical form. SH1.33.6 The reflector shall be anodized aluminum, sitting snugly within the steel shell.

SH1.33.7 The reflector shall secure a controlled area of light that spans the light across the front of the face of shelving or within the aisle space. SH1.33.8 The steel shell shall be produced from 16-gauge steel and measures approximately 34" long x 8-1/8" deep with a 4" radius. SH1.33.9 The steel shell shall have two attachment fittings bolted to the recessed ends of the shell and allows for a secured attachment to the applicable brackets. SH1.33.10 The light fixture shall be equipped with a protective grid cover, measuring 33-1/8" long x 7-3/4 deep x 1-1/2" thick. SH1.33.11 Each grid shall include seven slats spaced 1-1/8" on center and seven separators spaced 5-3/8" on center. SH1.33.12 The grid shall be removable without the use of tools offering easy access to the light tube. SH1.33.13 The light fixture brackets shall be constructed from 16-gauge, prime quality steel. SH1.33.14 The brackets shall be available in end and intermediate models to accommodate necessary electrical ganging. SH1.33.15 The brackets shall accommodate double-faced, single- faced and wall strip-shelving applications. SH1.33.16 The brackets shall be offered in standard shelving depths of 9", 12", and 15-3/4" deep with an additional 12" beyond the face of the shelving regardless of overall shelf depth. SH1.33.17 All brackets shall support the light fixture and a steel canopy top. SH1.33.18 Standard application of the brackets typically specifies an additional 3" rise from the shelving height, however, brackets shall be available that fit flush with the top of the upright tube. SH1.33.19 As standard, three bonnets shall be supplied on each bracket for maximum support. SH1.33.20 The total bracket height shall be 6-1/8". SH1.34 In Stack Work Stations SH1.34.1 The in-stack workstation shall include a steel frame and a work surface veneered in aminate, forbo, or natural beech wood. SH1.34.2 The steel frame shall be produced from 14 gauge steel tube, which measuring 1-1/8" x 1-1/8", and welded 3 bonnet brackets for integration into the shelving. The overall dimensions shall be 36" wide x 18 deep, with adjustable legs providing heights ranging from 25-3/16" to 39". SH1.34.3 The attached work surface shall be produced from 3/4", 3-ply particleboard, backer sheet, and one of the selected finished noted above. All edges shall include a 1/8" solid wood edge banding. SH1.34.4 The work surface shall measure 36" wide x 24" deep. SH1.35 Steel Intermediate/Back Panels SH1.35.1 Intermediate/back panels shall be #16 gauge steel. SH1.35.2 Vertical and horizontal edges shall be bent 90 degrees, and should be 1/2" thick. SH1.35.4 When three crossbars in each section are utilized, two individual panels shall be integrated. SH1.35.3 Intermediate/back panels shall interact between the crossbars, and should easily install without the use of tools.

SH1.36 Tackable Fabric Intermediate/Back Panels SH1.36.1 Tackable fabric intermediate/back panels shall be constructed from 1/2" fire treated fiberboard with 1/2" x 1-1/2" solid wood vertical and horizontal edges for additional support. SH1.36.2 Tackable panels shall have a non-staining direct glue process adhering the fabric to the fiberboard and solid wood. SH1.36.3 Tackable fabric intermediate/back panels shall interact between the crossbars, and should easily install without the use of tools. SH1.37 End Stack Folding Shelf SH1.37.1 The end stack-folding shelf shall be produced from 19 gauge steel plate attaching directly to the upright by the offered bonnets. SH1.37.2 A pivoting mechanism allowing a 90 degree locking position shall be integrated into the shelf itself, which will provide a flat work surface measuring 17-3/4" wide x 12" deep or will suspend downward at the center crossbar placement. SH1.38 End Stack Sloping Display Shelf SH1.38.1 The end stack sloping display shelf shall be produced from 19 gauge steel plate and can either attach directly to the upright by the offered bonnets or can attach to a wood end panel offered by BCI or other. SH1.38.2 Two models shall be made available in 12" height x 19-1/4" deep or 25-3/16" deep and should suspend centered from double-faced uprights. SH1.39 Tackable Fabric End Panels SH1.39.1 Tackable fabric end panels shall be constructed from a dual wall 1/2" x 2 fire treated fiberboard with 1/2" x 1-1/2" solid wood vertical and horizontal edges for additional support. SH1.39.2 Tackable panels shall have a non-staining direct glue process adhering the fabric to the fiberboard and solid wood. SH1.39.3 Both sides of the fabric end panel shall be covered with the specified fabric. Standard selection available: Natural Canvas and Dandy fabric line. Both fabrics are treated for fire safety. SH1.39.4 Tackable fabric end panels shall install with the use of end panel fittings located at the top and bottom of the specified upright. SH1.40 Beech Wood End Panels SH1.40.1 Beech wood end panels shall be constructed from 22 mm (3/4" +) 3-ply particleboard, which is beech wood veneered on both sides of the panel with solid 1/8" beech wood edge banding. SH1.40.2 The beech wood shall be treated twice with a non-reflective, acid-hardened lacquer, which ensures durability and the beauty of natural wood. SH1.40.3 Beech wood end panels shall be approximately 1/2" higher than the specified upright, ensuring that ½ of the leveling capacity is taken into consideration, therefore allowing coverage. SH1.40.4 An additional 3/16" per face shall be added to the overall depth of the beech wood end panels, ensuring specified steel componentry coverage. SH1.40.5 Beech wood end panels shall install with the use of end panel fittings located at the top and bottom of the specified upright.

SH1.40.6 Technical Properties: Beech wood: (Fagus Grandifolia) Hardness: Hard Color: White to reddish brown Figure: Medium Grain: Closed Finishing: Excellent for paint - Good for transparent. Lacquer: Weight - 220 g/m2 without color pigment. SH1.41 Wood and Fabric End Panel Fittings SH1.41.1 End panel fittings shall include a steel "Z" bracket per foot and a steel top fitting per face. SH1.41.2 Both steel pieces shall be constructed from 16-gauge steel. SH1.41.3 Bottom fittings shall be 7" long and fit over the foot to secure the panel by wood screws. SH1.41.4 Top fittings shall be 7", 10", or 14" long depending upon the depth of the components and fit securely to a double-flush bracket when steel canopy tops are used. Wood screws shall be used to secure the end panel at the top. SH1.41.5 Alternatively, if steel canopy tops are not utilized, the top fitting shall be integrated into the exposed top crossbar location, securing the top end panel by wood screws. SH1.42 Steel End Panels SH1.42.1 End panels shall be #16 gauge steel. SH1.42.2 All end panels shall attach to the component increment slots and shall have a welded "Z" bracket at the foot and the use of a steel double-flush bracket at the top. SH1.42.3 The end panels shall align with the exposed end of the upright column. SH1.43 Steel Intermediate and Corner Fillers with Steel Top SH1.43.1 Vertical filler pieces shall be #16 gauge steel. Steel canopy tops shall be #19 gauge steel. SH1.43.2 All vertical panels shall fit flush with the exposed edge of the uprights and shall have flush brackets welded internally for the attachment of the steel top. SH1.43.3 Vertical panels shall attach to the component increment slots and shall have a welded "Z" bracket at the foot. SH1.43.4 Panel ganging shall be accomplished with steel "L" angles at the corners, matching the selected steel color. SH1.43.5 The overall dimensions will be based upon the applicable shelving size(s). SH1.43.6 Steel canopy tops shall run the entire depth of the shelving, including the column thickness. SH1.44 Floor Anchor SH1.44.1 This L shaped floor anchor is constructed from 3 mm (.1/8 ) thick steel. SH1.44.2 The anchor measures 3.3/8 high x 2 wide x 1.11/16 flange depth. SH1.44.3 The vertical portion of the floor anchor shall have a sliding adjustment hole connection for ease of leveling and final attachment to the upright. SH1.44.4 The horizontal portion of the floor anchor shall have a.3/8 + diameter hole where a red head concrete connection bolt is to be used to connect the anchored shelving to the floor.

SH1.45 Wall Mount SH1.45.1 The wall mount is a saddle design that straddles the upper crossbar, thus providing a sliding mount in which the wall mount can be positioned and attached in two locations to the wall stud. SH1.45.2The wall mount is constructed from 2 mm (3/32 ) thick steel and measures 1.1/8, bending 90 degrees and measures 1.7/8, bending 90 degrees and measures 3.15/16, bending 90 degrees and measures 1.7/8, and finally bending 90 degrees and measures 1.1/8. SH1.45.3 The two wall attachment holes measure.1/4 diameter. SH1.46 Wall Strips SH1.46.1 The wall strip shall be formed of not less than #14 gauge tubular steel with a cross section of 1-3/16" x 19/32" and have a single row of shelf mounting holes at 1 inch intervals. SH1.46.2 The wall strip is C shaped and therefore has a finished return on both sides measuring 5/32. SH1.46.3 A dual row of counter sunk wall attachment holes shall be staggered and placed on either side of the component increments. The counter sunk hole measures 1.25/32 / 23/64. SH1.46.4 The spacing between the connection holes shall be 9.7/8 on center and staggered 1.31/32 SH1.47 System 98 Reinforced Tubular Vertical Upright Column SH1.47.1 Upright tubular columns shall be formed of not less than #14 gauge rectangular tubular steel with a cross section of 1-3/16" x 3-3/16" and have a single row of shelf mounting holes at 1 inch intervals. SH1.47.2 With in the upright there shall be a X shaped internal gusset constructed from.1/8 thick (3 mm) steel, which is welded to the horizontal portion of the upright (base foot) and extends 38.3/16 (970 mm) into the height of the vertical column. SH1.47.3 At four points along the upright (the lower and middle crossbar) the nut and bolt connection shall penetrate through the internal gusset for added structural integrity of the upright. SH1.47.4 Upright column shall include provision for addition of a 12" extender for installation of one or two additional shelves. SH1.47.5 Upright columns shall accept a wood end panel attached by BCI or others with end panel fittings that integrate into the existing nut and bolt crossbar placement and/or suspended from the canopy bracket on the exposed end(s) of the range. SH1.47.6 Code 2 reinforced upright columns shall have a single row of shelf mounting holes at 1 inch intervals. All other specifications listed above are applicable. SH1.48 System 98 Reinforced Tubular Horizontal Upright Column SH1.48.1 Tubular base feet shall be formed of not less than #11 gauge rectangular tubular steel with a cross section of 1-3/16" x 3-3/16". Base foot shall be welded to upright column with a full 8-5/8" bead. SH1.48.2 Each foot shall be fitted with two, 2" diameter leveling glides shall also accept a 4" caster allowing some range to be converted to a mobile shelving unit. In addition, floor anchor holes shall be provided for integration of BCI s adjustable floor anchor component. SH1.48.3 The end openings in the base feet are to be fitted with removable plastic caps matching the paint finish. SH1.48.4 Base feet are to be fully finished, allowing for the removal of the base shelf and use of the stack as an open base unit.

SH1.49 System 98 Base Plates for Code 2 and Reinforced Uprights SH1.49.1 Base plates shall be or #19 gauge folded steel plate, 3-3/16" x 9/16". Removal of the base plate shall not adversely affect the finished appearance of the unit from which it is removed, or adjacent units. SH1.49.2 Installation or removal of the base plate shall not require tools, nor shall it require replacement of existing parts. SH1.49.3 Base plates shall be available as a standard product to accommodate a code 2 upright foot. SH1.50 Crossbars for System 98 Reinforced Shelving SH1.50.1 Crossbars shall be constructed from a combination 16-gauge and 9-gauge, cold-rolled, steel plate. The profile of the crossbar, consisting of completely enclosed rectangular tube measuring.5/8 wide x 1.3/4 with two 9 gauge plates welded to each end with two connection points on each side. SH1.50.2 The welded plate shall measure 1.3/4 wide x 3.3/8 high. SH1.50.3 All double-faced stack units, if 84" or higher, shall be supplied with three crossbars per section. All crossbar bracing shall be in the same horizontal plane as the shelves. No diagonal bracing is acceptable. SH1.50.4 All crossbar profiles shall allow for the installation of intermediate panels without the use of tools. SH1.50.5 No modification or deviation to center crossbar model vs. standard top/bottom crossbar model shall be accepted, nor shall any of the crossbars be turned 180 degrees to accept intermediate panels. All componentry specifications listed above apply to both System 90 and System 98 - Reinforced Steel Cantilever Shelving Systems.
