CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATIONAL OFFICE PROFESSIONALS MARCH 18, 2008 Wallingford Board of Education 142 Hope Hill Road Wallingford, CT 06492 The Executive Board of the Connecticut Association of Educational Office Professionals held a meeting at the Wallingford Board of Education Offices on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. PRESENT: Ginette Anziano, Wallingford Carol Burke, Wallingford Patricia DeFilio, PSP, Wallingford Sandra Fries, Wallingford Lorraine Jacques, Retired, CABE Nancy Kleinschmidt, Retired, CABE Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford Janice Roy, Litchfield Aura Wilson, CEOE, Branford CALL TO ORDER/INVOCATION/ESTABLISHMENT OF QUORUM President Aura Wilson, CEOE, Branford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford shared the Invocation. Sandra Fries, Secretary established a quorum was present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the September 18, 2007 meeting were reviewed by those present. There were two abstentions Lorraine Jacques, Retired, CABE and Sandra Fries, Wallingford. On a motion from Carol Burke, Wallingford, seconded by Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford, it was unanimously, VOTED: That the minutes of the September 18, 2007 Executive Board Meeting is approved as presented. CORRESPONDENCE Patricia DeFilio, PSP, Wallingford shared a thank you note from The American Cancer Society for our donation in memory of Linda Thibodeau.

CAEOP Executive Board Meeting March 18, 2008 Page 2 TREASURER S REPORT The Treasurer s Report was presented to the Executive Board for review and discussion. Carol Burke reported that not as much money as last year. We have outstanding dues from the Conference in October. Lorraine Jacques, Retired, CABE, asked Carol if the Certificate was cashed in. Carol yes it has been cashed in. Proposed Budget, Carol Burke, Wallingford, reported $830.00 in membership dues. Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford reminded Carol that we need member affiliate by May, 1, 2008. Last year it was $29.50 for affiliation. Affiliation for this year flat fee plus $.10 per member. Association members last year 45. From the Conference this year $900.00 in the hole. We used prior year budget to pay some of the Conference. We lost a little over $1,000.00. Nancy Kleinschmidt, Retired, Bristol, stated we need to discuss Proposed Budget. Carol Burke, Wallingford, said she estimated as best she could. Janice Roy, Litchfield, handed Carol Burke two checks. Nancy said we should a registration refund to the family of Linda Thibodeau. Patricia DeFilio, stated we should pay the dues in Oct. Send out reminders in June. Lorraine Jacques, Retired, CABE told Aura you need to get on Janice Roy, Litchfield regarding membership. We need amounts for Proposed Budget as Carol can only do guess work at this time. We had 40 members who paid for Conference. Aura Wilson, CEOE, Branford asked for a motion to accept Treasurer s Report. On motion from Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford, seconded by Patricia DeFilio, PSP, Wallingford to accept Treasurer s report as presented. It was unanimously, VOTED: That the Treasurer s report CAEOP Annual Meeting Budget is accepted as present.

CAEOP Executive Board Meeting March 18, 2008 Page 3 On motion from Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford, seconded, by Patricia DeFilio, PSP, Wallingford to accept the Treasurer s Proposed Budget for 2008/2009. It was unanimously, VOTED: presented. That the Treasurer s Proposed Budget for 2008/2009 is accepted as On motion from Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford, seconded by Patricia DeFilio, PSP, Wallingford to accept the Treasurer s Year to Date Budget. It was unanimously, VOTED: To accept the Treasurer s Year to Date Budget Report as presented. COMMITTEE REPORTS DISTRICT DELEGATES Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford reported that her goal as North East Director is to get more members and share information with secretary s. She also reported that Dr. Cirasuolo is the Director of CAPPS. Superintendents will support us. We need some incentives and more conferences. NEWSLETTER Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford has sent in the Newsletter to NAEOP. She did a great job on the Web site. Lorraine Jacques shared with the Executive Board members that she is President of The Lions Club. PSP Bernadette Higgens _PSP Conference Colorado Elaine Sein working on hers. CEOE Patty DeFilio has all credentials SCHOLARSHIP REPORT Heather Fries sent in her report Christopher Laliberte of Thomaston, CT was the recipient this year. We did not have very many applications. No one from Wallingford applied this year.

CAEOP Executive Board Meeting March 18, 2008 Page 4 SUNSHINE No report OLD BUSINESS Aura shared the Conference evaluation responses with those present. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Annual May Business Meeting will be at CABE May 20, 2008. Annual Conference will be held in October 2008. Aura Wilson, CEOE, Branford will check for some speakers for the conference. Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford will check on a Technology speaker. NEW BUSINESS Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford, found CT pins to take to National Convention at Barker Specialty it has the State and Logo she dealt with Christine Thayer they are $3.26 ea for a total of $800.00. The board members present thought it was a lot of money to spend on pins. Elizabeth Napolitano will check to see if she can get them cheaper. Ballot for Elections and Nominations New London Delegate Hartford Delegate Windom Delegate Middlesex Delegate Fairfield Delegate Treasurer Carol Burke President Elect -Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford President - Aura Wilson, CEOE, Branford, has one (1) more year. CAEOP Executive Board Meeting March 8, 2008 Page 5 Elizabeth Napolitano, CEOE, Wallingford, share information on a Memorial Brick in Honor or Majorie Lamb for all her service to the Association. It is a Jackie Evans Memorial Brick in Kansas. The cost is $50.00 Elizabeth thought it would be nice if we did this for Marge as she has been a member since 1954. On motion by Carol Burke, Wallingford, seconded by Ginette Anziano, Wallingford, it was unanimously VOTED to purchase the National Jackie Evans Memorial Brick, in Honor of, Marjorie Lamb. ADJOURNMENT: President Aura Wilson, CEOE, asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.
