Primo Plaids Bedding Ensemble PAGE 3 of 5 Block Assembly 1. Place (1) 3 ½ Fabric A square on the left side of (1) 3 ½ x 6 ½ Fabric K strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance. 2. Place another 3 ½ Fabric A square on the right side of the 3 ½ x 6 ½ Fabric K strip, right sides together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼ seam allowance to make (1) AKA unit. 3. Repeat Steps 1-2 to make (12) AKA units total. 4. Repeat Steps 1-2 and use Figures 5 thru 12 for fabric identification and location to make the designated number of flying geese units. There will be (100) total flying geese units. 5. Sew (1) AKA unit to each side (1) 6 ½ Fabric A square. Sew (1) 3 ½ Fabric K square to each end of (1) AKA unit. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square to make (1) Block One (Fig. 13). Repeat to make (3) Block Ones total. 6. Repeat Step 12 and use Figures 14 thru 21 for fabric identification and location to make the designated number of blocks. There will be (25) total blocks. 7. Sew (6) 3 ½ Fabric J squares and (5) 3 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric L strips together end to end, alternating them, to make (1) sashing strip. Repeat to make (6) sashing strips total. Quilt Assembly (refer to quilt layout while assembling quilt top) 8. Sew (6) 3 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric L strips and (5) assorted blocks together, alternating them, to make (1) row. Repeat to make (5) rows total. 9. Sew (6) sashing strips and (5) rows together, alternating them, to make the quilt top. 10. Sew (1) 3 ½ x 78 ½ Fabric K strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 3 ½ x 84 ½ Fabric K strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. 11. Sew (1) 5 ½ x 84 ½ Fabric A strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 5 ½ x 94 ½ Fabric A strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. 12. Layer and quilt as desired. 13. Sew the (10) 2 ½ x WOF Fabric C strips together, end to end with 45 seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press. 14. Sew (1) 2 ½ Fabric D square to each end of (1) 2 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric C strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the A block to make (1) AC Block (Fig. 6). Repeat to make a second AC Block. 6. Sew (1) 5 ½ x 16 ½ Fabric E strip to each side of (1) AC Block. Sew (1) 2 ½ x 16 ½ B strip to each side of the AC Block. Sew (1) 2 ½ x 30 ½ Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the AC Block to make (1) Pillowcase Front (Fig. 7). Repeat to make a second Pillowcase Front. Turn under one of 20 ½ edges ¼ and then a second ¼. Topstitch the fold in place to finish the short edge 7. Turn under the 20 ½ edge of (1) 20 ½ x 31 Fabric B strip ¼ and then a second ¼. Topstitch the fold in place to finish the short edge (Fig. 8). Repeat to make the second back 8. Layer (1) pillowcase back with (1) Pillowcase Front, right sides together. Stitch along both long sides and the unfinished short side. Turn right side out to complete (Fig. 9). Repeat with the second Pillowcase front and back.
