The Basement Band A group of Islanders playing Irish Traditional Music The Crew Charismatic performance of traditional Folk & Sea songs by musicians from the Bloodstone Border Morris Theresa Ellis Passionate about her instruments, Theresa is a harpist who plays a mixture of classical and celtic music Guith Folk Singers 4 piece singing group performing a selection of sea shanties, sea songs and folk songs, mostly unaccompanied The Grimshaws JC & Angelina are a local duo of great renown, playing a wonderful blend of blues, jazz & folk John Hacker A singer and guitarist who usually plays with 2TA (Second Around). The rest of the band are unable to be with us this year so it gives us a chance to enjoy a solo performance from John Haven Falconry No song birds or parrots on scooters but a thrilling display of owls, hawks, falcons and doves Jukebox Jazz An Island based trio playing a unique variety of music from Rock & Roll to Trad Jazz to classic, upbeat cover songs. These young and enthusiastic musicians boosted their musical career by winning this year s Get The Gig competition Karen Tweed & Mark Hickman Karen is a world renowned accordion player, now living on the Island. Mark, a local musician and luthier, is part of the line-up of Last Orders, the local Irish group. www.karentweed.com and www.mhsi.co.uk/aboutme Steam Show Minstrels There is a wealth of musical talent to be found amongst the exhibitors at the Steam Show. Some are very shy about their skills, others are not. We will cajole as many as possible to come down to the Woodland Stage for a daily finale to entertain you Wihtwara Wihtwara, (an ancient Jutish name given to the inhabitants of the Isle of Wight) is a folk trio comprising Tom Ferguson (bass, bodhran, guitar and vocals), Linda O Connor (vocals) and Glenn Koppany (guitar and vocals). Formed two years ago, they play an eclectic collection of songs ranging from lively dance upbeat and funny to haunting dark and reflective, all with their own Wihtwara twist. Their set features original songs from Glenn, traditional folk from around the world and contemporary songs Please check the Performance s board on the day
