Applied Play & Prospect Generation Improve quality in prospect mapping & reduce risks in volumetric assessment using practical geophysical tools Date: 26th Nov 2012 30th Nov 2012 Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Petrosync Distinguished Instructor H. Roice Nelson Jr. Founder & President, Walden 3-D INC Co-Founder & Manager, Dynamic Measurement LLC Founder & President, Dynamic Resources Corporation Leading Case Studies, Interactive Simulation Workshop, & Daily Exercises Well-known Geoscientist & Consultant with over 40 years of industry experience Founder of the successful Landmark Graphics Corporation (now under Halliburton), which introduced the first ever interactive 3D seismic interpretation workstation Extensive global field experience including in US, Iraq, Indonesia, India, Africa, etc. Published over 185 technical papers since 1973, and authored the book New Technologies in Exploration Geophysics published by Gulf Publishing 1999 Cecil Green Enterprise Awardee, a special recognition given by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) to individuals/organizations for their distinct and worthy contribution to the industry Publication Feature Roice, to a large degree, caused a paradigm shift. The now familiar sight of workstations cranking 3D seismic data is the result of his ability to look into the future as early as 1973, when 3D surveys were still a novelty, computers ponderous mainframes, and workstations in their infancy. Masterclass Overview Play assessment and prospect generation activities are critical in managing company capital resources. After this course, those involved with exploration activities will be able to enhance their skills in prospect generation through improved quality in prospect mapping and reduced risks in volumetric assessment. Participants will gain better understanding about the opportunities present on the field and their potential value. This training will cover at least 8 case studies derived from over 40 years of global experience of the instructor. It will include an intensive workshop simulation as well as different practical exercises which will enable participants to learn hands-on the skills and techniques they can apply to their workstations. The course will begin with an exercise which will help analyze how to improve the exploration workflow design of the companies in class. This will be calibrated with a workflow model that will be presented by the instructor. Day 1 will further equip delegates with skills in data handling, data interpretation, and software support that will enable them to develop a better framework for play and prospect generation. In Day 2, delegates will undergo a competitive workshop where they will be performing complete analysis, data interpretation, and concession bidding, until they can generate decisions for drilling prospects just like in real life. Furthermore, Day 3 will cover Structural and Stratigraphic Play Fairway and Prospect Interpretation, where delegates will be presented with data and regional trend analysis of play fairways from Iraq, North Dakota, India, Indonesia, and US. These case studies will represent different environments of different geologic basins from various geographical regions. Thereafter in Day 4, delegates will learn about how to use seismic attribute analysis to reduce risks in volumetric assessments through class exercises and case study analysis. Day 5 will then round up the course with Prospect Generation and Preparation of the Prospect Displays, where the discussion will link the technical data together with how to package prospects into a cogent proposal to management. By the end of the course, delegates will be able to generate solid play and prospect proposals which can be supported with sound technical and economic value. Masterclass Objectives Analyze and improve current workflow in generating plays and prospects Understand the importance of regional interpretation and their sub-surface properties in the prospect generation process Identify opportunities of new plays and targets for wells in license round Improve interpretation and mapping skills in data handling through a real-life bidding process simulation workshop Learn in-depth the structural and stratigraphic play fairway and prospect interpretation through real-life case study examples Reduce risks in volumetric assessments through understanding of seismic attributes of leads Generate a solid prospect proposal which can be supported with sound technical and economic value Specially Designed for The course is designed for, but not limited to those involved in the exploration process of prospect generation and play assessment activities: Geologists Geoscientists Geophysicists Petrosync Quality Limited Attendees The course has limited seats to ensure maximum learning and experience for all delegates. Certificate of Attendance You will receive a Certificate of Attendance bearing the signatures of the Trainer upon successful completion of the course. This certificate is proof of your continuing professional development. Interactive Training You will be attending training designed to share both the latest knowledge and practical experience through interactive sessions. This will provide you with a deeper and more long-term understanding of your current issues. High Quality Course Materials Printed course manual will provide you with working materials throughout the course and will be an invaluable source of reference for you and your colleagues afterward. You can follow course progress on your laptop with soft copies provided.
