Welcome to the Yageo Chip Resistor training module. This module will provide an overview of chip resistor introduction, including single chip, array, network for both general use and automotive grade. Also, chip resistors with special functions: anti-fos, anti-surge, high voltage are included. The product range and applications of current sense resistors is another focus of this training module. Furthermore, an explanation of Yageo s part numbering scheme will be presented. 2
Yage offers Chip Resistor Decision Tree to assist customers to choose the appropriate products for your applications. You can choose based on the resistance value: 1. Resistance <1 ohm, it is called current sensor, with different termination / product shapes. Technology/Termination: Thick film- RL & PT series. Metal plate technology PA and Metal foil technology - PE series (wide terminal available), PS series (4 terminal) and Shunt resistor PU series. 2. Resistance>1ohm, with different tolerance / special features General purpose - RC series, thick film chip resistor. Automotive grade - AC/AF/AA series, both are thick film chip resistors. Precision types - RE/RT/AT series, RE series is basd on thick film technology, with tolerance & TCR down to 0.5% & 50ppm/ C RT & AT series are based on thin film technology, and AT series is also suitable for automotive applications. Special features - Surge resistor (SR series); High Voltage resistors (RV series) and Anti-FOS resistors, (AF series). Remark: R/R ±1% is the resistance drift after long time life test for selection reference 3
AC series is automotive grade thick film chip resistor, covering sizes from 0201 to 2512, (wide terminal available) with ±0.5%, ±1% and ±5% tolerances. For size 0402 to 1206, high precision products with TCR 50ppm is available. The resistance range is from 1Ω to 22MΩ at an operating temperature range of - 55 C to +155 C. AC series is manufactured with enhanced material and pattern design, special process control including narrow spec and Cpk monitor. With 100% AOI to ensure alignment quality between layers and to eliminate cosmetic defects. AC series is AEC-Q200 qualified and PPAP data is ready for automotive customer certification. Yageo s quality management system is ISO/TS 16949 certified. 4
Yageo sulfur resistant chip resistor - AF series, with enhanced structure, is suitable for use in sulfur containing environment. AF series features excellent performance and high reliability, passed anti- FOS test by ASTM B809-95 test method. Suitable for use in all kinds of industrial equipments, power and network applications, high-end computer & multimedia electronics in high sulfur environment. 5
Yageo anti-surge chip resistors, SR series covers sizes from 0402 to 2512, with ±0.5%, ±1%, ±5%, ±10%, and ±20% tolerances. The resistance range is from 1Ω to 100KΩ at an operating temperature range of - 55 C to +155 C. SR series with excellent anti-surge characteristics, could protect electronic devices against short time overload. For example, the SR2512 is able to withstand a power surge up to 10,000W under 10us duration. 6
Yageo metal current sensor product overview: Based on various applications, Yageo provides four solutions: 1. Metal foil technology - PE series, resistance from 5m ohm to 910m ohm. PE has the widest size (0201 ~ 2512) and resistance range among all metal current sensor series. 2. Metal plate technology - PA series, rated power is up to 3W. 3. Shunt resistor by welded technology PU series (size 3921/5931), rated power is up to 10W. PU has excellent heat dissipation due to its central open-air design. Low thermal EMF feature can reduce the sensing error. 4. Metal current sensor with 4 terminals PS series, PS has excellent heat dissipation and solderability. special 4 terminals design to separate current and voltage sensing positions can achieve high precision current sensing. With these three technology, Yageo provdes complete size & resistance ranges to fullfill market demand in current sensing applications. 7

Yageo s PU series shunt resistor is AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive grade requirement as well as MIL-STD-202 test to ensure its reliability under various temperatures (from -65 C to +275 C), humidity (1,000 hours, 85 C/85% RH), temperature cycling (1,000 cycles, -55 C /+125 C) conditions and still possess long endurance. 9
Yageo high voltage chip resistor, RV series covers sizes from 0603 to 2512, with ±0.5%, ±1%, ±5% tolerances. The resistance range is from 47Ω to 27MΩ at an operating temperature range of - 55 C to +155 C. RV series with special resistance pattern and with higher working voltage (0603~2512: 350 to 500V) compared to Yageo general purpose chip resistor, RC series (0603~2512: 75 to 200V). RV series is well designed and is compliant with IEC 60065 requirements, suitable for use in battery charger, converter, power supply, etc.
The growing complexity and decreasing size and weight of devices requires ever more and smaller components. The tiny 0075, 01005 R-Chips for wearable devices are ideal to help reduce board space on the PCB. Yageo is privileged with its RC capacity volume and experienced production techniques. 11
By building on its unique strengths, Yageo is set to deliver the solutions to meet the unrelenting drive for miniaturization. Further optimization of space on the PCB is achieved by integration of discrete components in 2 and 4 element resistors, such as YC102 (0.8mm x 0.6 mm)/yc104 (1.4mm x 0.6mm) are chosen in memory module, Array/Network are also available in various case sizes. 12
High precision thin film chip resistor RT series covers sizes from 0201 to 2512, with ±0.01%, ±0.05%, ±0.1%, ±0.25%, ±0.5% and ±1% tolerances. The resistance range is from 1Ω to 1.5MΩ at an operating temperature range of - 55 C to +155 C. RT series features excellent TCR performance, TCR is lower down to ±5ppm/ C RT series is suitable for use in high precision applications, such as telecom, measurement instrument etc. 13
Automotive grade thin film chip resistor AT series covers sizes from 0402 to 1206, with ±0.1%, ±0.25%, ±0.5% and ±1% tolerances. The resistance range is from 10Ω to 1MΩ at an operating temperature range of - 55 C to +155 C. AT series is manufactured with robust product design for high temperature and high humidity environment and with 100% AOI for elimination early failures. AT structure is silver (Ag) free, so it features perfect anti-sulfuration capability. AT series is AEC-Q200 qualified and PPAP data is ready for automotive customer certification. Yageo s quality management system is ISO/TS 16949 certified. 14

A total of 14~17 codes is set for Yageo global part number. Rchip series are defined in the first two codes, followed by 4 codes of size indicated in inch. Double or triple power is offered and defined in code 10~11 with taping reel. 16
The termination shapes of Yageo s array and network are indicted in the first two codes: YC = convex/flat, TC = concave. Code 3~5 are for size and number of resistors. Code 6 is etwork schematic of two different circuit configurations (check datasheet for more details). 17
Current sensor coding rule is similar to single chip coding on previous page, except resistance explanation in code 12~16. For example: 0R01 represents 10m ohm and 0R1 for 100m ohm. 18
