Advantageous location Due to its location in the Royal City of Krakow, the capital of Malopolska, the Agricultural University in Krakow plays an important role in this region: - it brings closer the city and rural dwellers - gives opportunity to young people from rural areas to actively participate in the city development and promote tradition and folklore

Festival of Science For several years May Festival of Science has been and important event in the cultural life of Krakow. Agricultural University also uses this occasion to present its research and educational offer, and student culture

Festival of Science The staff and students of Agricultural University present the University and meet the inhabitants of Krakow on the Main Market Square

Close meeting of insects and people Since 2000 Agricultural University in Krakow has organized a Festival of Insects i.e. a great exhibition of native and tropical insects of all sizes and colours. The exhibition is accompanied by numerous contests and games for children. It is the only such exhibition in Poland organized by a university.

Festival of Insects Visitors can see and touch exotic spiders, beetles and butterflies, children leave the exhibition wearing colourful tattoos. Every year this event attracts many (particularly very young) visitors.

Cultural activities Every spring Krakow students have great fun celebrating JUVENALIA Student Youth Festival, which is an inherent part of Krakow cultural life.

Agricultural University students actively participate in this joyful event

Culture ARKA Student Culture Club is the centre of cultural activities at the Agricultural University. Concerts of folk dance groups, productions of amateur theater groups and cabaret performances which take place here attract not only our academic community but also audience from the city.

Culture ARKA often hosts visits from foreign dance ensembles, like Vlado Tasevsky Folk group from Macedonia.

Culture Agricultural University in Krakow has its own folk dance group, choir, Cabaret on six legs and Hunting Signallers Group, who give concerts and perform for the university community and guests but also take part in various cultural, events in Krakow, in Poland and abroad.

Highland folklore Skalni Student Folk Dance Group, formed in 1952, has about 60 members - young highlanders from the Podhale region who present the rich tradition of the region.

Highland folklore Skalni participate in festivals and cultural events in Poland and abroad. They are always present on the Krakow Main Market Square during the Festival of Science

Great singing The Agricultural University Choir was founded in December 2003. The repertoire of the Choir comprises over 60 music pieces of both sacral and lay music performed among others at concerts in the churches of Krakow. The choir performs during all important university ceremonies but also participates in many other cultural events.

Choir The most important achievements comprise participation in the concert inaugurating the 17th International Days of the Music of Krakow Composers. The choir has won several prestigious awards, like the Gold String Award of 7th Malopolska Choir Contest at Niepolomice.

HAGARD Hunting Signallers Group at the Faculty of Forestry HAGARD Signallers Group plays hunting instruments, continues and widely popularizes hunting tradition.

HAGARD The group participates in all important academic events. Every year they perform at the Festival of Science in Krakow. The group has also performed during ceremonies held at the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Krakow, Regional Hunting Association or various hunting units in southern Poland.

Krakow European City of Culture 2000 Agricultural University in Krakow joined in the festivities by celebrating two important events: - 250th anniversary of the birth of Hugo Kołłątaj the University s patron - 100th Anniversary of Agricultural Studies in Krakow

Krakow 2000 Festival The conference reminded the life and work of Hugo Kołłątaj, an eminent 18th century scholar and reformer of higher education system, who first suggested teaching Agronomy at the university level..

Krakow 2000 Festival The conference was accompanied by an exhibition presenting the most precious old prints,publications and documents illustrating the 100-year history of agricultural studies in Krakow. These memorabilia are part of the University Museum collection.

Recent cultural events Exhibition showing Protection of high mountain environment in the Tatra Mountains and modern Research methods used in ecology and biodiversity was opened in the Museum of Natural History, Polish Academy of Sciences in December 2006.

Recent cultural events The exhibition prepared by Agricultural University in Krakow in collaboration with Museum of National History, Research Station and State Forest Museum and The Tatra National Park in Slovakia presents the diversity of high mountain nature and modern methods of its protection.

Promoting agri-tourism Malopolska Agri-tourist Fair, organized by the University every year in April is a fixed position in the calendar of events in Krakow. Promoting local folklore and traditional cuisine, it also offers a wide variety of facilities for cheap family holidaymaking

Festival of Gardens For ten days in June Agricultural University joined the Festival of Gardens celebrated in Krakow offering lectures on ornamental plants in tradition and culture of various nations, specific character of rural gardens and practical information about the importance of vegetables for human health. Everybody interested in gardening could get some specialist advice.

Festival of Gardens Guests could visit an exhibition of ornamental Plants and the University orchard at Garlica.

Culture in the net Agricultural University students created their own portal to share ideas, promote student culture and exchange views, also on various aspects of culture.

Academic culture in the cultural life of Krakow Studying in Krakow allows to feel its unique atmosphere of ancient city well beloved by young people. Our students use this chance to take from the rich cultural heritage but also to present the tradition and folklore of their native parts. They are happy to participate in the cultural life of the city.
