Special Holiday 2016 After School Classes - December 12 th 16 th Enrollment & Registration: Registration begins November 21, 2016. Register at the UltraCamp website Registration ends at midnight December 5. First -time users will need to setup an account. Payment must be made at time of registration in order to reserve space in the class. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive an automated confirmation (via email) of registered classes. If you do not receive a confirmation notice from Notices@Ultracamp.com you are not registered, and should revisit your account or contact Brenda.Asare@shschicago.org or call 773-262-8463. We will contact you only if the class has been cancelled. Scholarships will not be offered this session. Dismissal Procedures: All classes will be dismissed on Rosemont (Monday-Thursday at 5:00 p.m. and Friday at 4p.m. ). If you arrive after the dismissal time and no staff is on Rosemont dismissing children, please park your car in the school parking lot or on Rosemont with blinkers flashing, and come through the Portry for pickup. After school staff is at school until 6:00 p.m. and your child is welcome to stay with us at no additional cost. Monday, December 12 th Natural Christmas Teacher: Mrs. Couture, Director of Diversity and Community Outreach Who: Kindergarten - 3 th Grade Date: Monday, December 12 Cost: $20 + $3 materials fee = $23 Students will make natural Christmas crafts and celebrate Christmas the natural way while sipping on hot cocoa. Puppet & Storytelling Teacher: Mr. Stopyra, SHS Substitute Teacher Who: Kindergarten - 2 nd Grade Date: Monday, December 12 Time: 3:45 5:00p.m. Cost: $20 + $6 materials fee = $26 Come one, come all, because in this after school class, puppets make Christmas a ball! Students will make their own Christmas puppets out of different arts and crafts supplies, and then work together in groups to create an original Christmas story that they can tell using their puppets. The puppets and a script of the story will be sent home at the end of the class. Grab a friend and share this wonderful class while sipping on hot cocoa. Holiday Scavenger Hunt and Craft Teacher: Mrs. Nass, Controller Date: Monday, December 12 Cost: $20 + $10 materials fee - $30 Join us in a Sacred Heart Holiday adventure. Budding detectives will follow clues and search high and wide for secret holiday objects hidden throughout the building. After much detective work, students will end the class by making a holiday craft Holiday Cards - Custom Plate Printed Teacher: Mr. Ian Sherwin, Sherwin Art Gallery Date: Monday, December 12 Time: 3:45 5:00p.m. Students will be designing their own unique holiday cards. They will design a printing plate, ink the plate, and take their custom made creation home to share with friends and family. * 1

Tuesday, December 13 th Mason Jar Holiday Craft! Teacher: Mrs. Crosby, Primary School Teaching Assistant Who: Kindergarten - 1st Grade We will have fun engaging in a DIY holiday crafts project as we put our creativity to use. With holiday music playing in the background, the little ones will spend time crafting a mason jar of their choice in preparation of the holiday season while sipping on hot coco and holiday treats. Christmas & Pinata! Teacher: Mrs. Zarate, Primary School Teaching Assistant Who: Kindergarten, - 2 nd Grade Making a Christmas Piñata is a very fun way to start the celebrations of Christmas. We will start reading a story about the origins and meaning of the Posadas, then we will decorate a small Piñata. At the end of our class we will start celebrating breaking a Piñata while we sing traditional songs. " No quiero oro, ni quiero plata, yo lo que quiero es romper la piñata" I don t want gold, I don t want silver, all I want is to break the piñata! Holiday Games, Ornament Making, and More! Teacher: Mrs. Hotz, Academy 1 Who: K - 3 rd Grade Come join Mrs. Hotz for holiday games, ornament making, and sweet treats galore! Children will make ornaments to hang on their Christmas tree or give away as gifts. We will also play games such as Holiday Bingo, Snowball Toss, and Holiday Musical Chairs. Sweet treats and hot chocolate will be enjoyed too! Gingerbread House Decorating Teacher: Mrs. Fusco, Enrichment Coordinator Who: 1 st 4 th Grade Cost: $20 + $15 materials fee = $35 Have a holiday ball designing and decorating your very own gingerbread house! Come join in the fun while we share a delicious holiday snack, listen to jolly carols, and use loads of holiday treats to decorate our houses. Each student will take home their very own beautifully designed gingerbread house. 2

North Pole Olympics Teacher: Ms. Powers, Lower School Physical Education Winter wonderland fun as we have bobsled races, play Santa's buckets, Pin The Tail on Rudolph, snowball dodge ball, make the abominable snowman and more! Mrs. Claus will be on hand with hot chocolate and gifts for all. Don't miss this active adventure! Light Up Your Christmas Teacher: Mrs. Cortez, PS Art Who: Kindergarten-5 th Grade Join Mrs. Cortez for a day of fun and creativity. This class includes: Decorating one sugar cookie, a light up Christmas ornament, and a Christmas book mark while sipping on hot cocoa and listening to sing- along holiday music. Wednesday, December 14 th Christmas Around theworld Teacher: Mrs. Carlucci, Full-Time Substitute Teacher Who: Kindergarten-4 th Grade Join Mrs. Carlucci as you take a trip around the world and discover how children in other countries celebrate Christmas! After getting your personalized messenger bags and passport, get ready to take off for Puerto Rico & Japan! You will make a Christmas keepsake ornament representing the tradition of that country. Next you will eat a special snack from each country as well. You will leave with your messenger bag full of crafts, snacks and fun facts from your trip around the world. Don t miss this exciting adventure ho ho ho! Yuletide Yoga Adventure & Cookie Decorating Teacher: Ms. Gates, Yoga Alliance-Certified Instructor & Academy 1 Teaching Assistant Who: K- 5 th Grade Join us on a yoga adventure where we will explore holiday-themed stretches such as candy cane standing side bend, Christmas tree pose, flying snowflake, and downward reindeer pose. Afterwards, we will decorate gingerbread cookies (gluten free, nut free, and dye free cookies are available) in the shape of yogis! Oh what fun to breathe deeply, move our bodies, and then to celebrate with a sweet treat. 3

Holiday Frames Teachers: Ms. Henderson & Mr. Peek, Academy 2 Teacher and Assistant Who: 1 st -3 rd Grade Join Mr. Peek and Ms. Henderson and decorate a keepsake that you will treasure for years to come. We ll snack on graham crackers, popcorn, sip hot chocolate (whipped cream, optional), and listen to Christmas music as we while away the hour. Thursday, December 15 th Holly, Jolly Lego Fun! Teacher: Ms. Gibson, Kindergarten D Who: Kindergarten - 2 nd Grade Cost: $20 + $12 materials fee = $32 Come join Ms. Gibson for some holly, jolly lego fun! You will build a special holiday themed lego set and enjoy a yummy cookie treat! Santa's Fleece Blanket Workshop Teachers: Mrs. Hatfield & Ms. Reinhardt, Academy 3 Who: 3 rd - 5 th Grade Cost $20 + $20 materials fee = $40 Join Santa s elves, Ms. Reinhardt and Mrs. Hatfield, and create a fuzzy fleece blanket, sip hot cocoa, and listen to festive holiday music. Santa's Workshop Workout Teacher: Stephanie Combs, Teaching Assistant Who: Kindergarten-4 th Grade Cost: $20 +$3 materials fee = $23 Come help Santa get in shape for the holidays! He has a big trip around the world to make, so he has to be in tip top shape! He will be bringing toys from his workshop such as hula hoops and bouncy balls to create fun games that will prepare him for the big night. Come enjoy an afternoon with Santa and his elves playing fun games that will get you movin and groovin! We will end the class with a tasty Santa treat. 4

Mrs. Claus Book Club Teacher: Ms. Sulaiman, Teaching Assistant Who: 1 st -5 th Grade Do you enjoy reading holiday books? If your answer is YES, this class is for you! Join Ms. Sulaiman as she shares one of Santa s favorite books, The Polar Express. The fun does not stop there. We will play a game and have the chance to make our own Polar Express hot cocoa! Make an American Girl Doll Christmas Tree Teacher: Ms. Becker, Lower School Music Dates: Thursday, December 15 Time: 3:45-5:00p.m. Participants will be provided with all the materials to make miniature ornaments, strands of lights and a small tree skirt to decorate a doll sized Christmas tree. Class members can use the tree for their own doll, or make it as a gift for a friend or sibling. Jingle Bells Ring Teacher: Ms. Henderson, Academy 2 Who: 2 nd - 3 rd Grade Let s ring in the Christmas season with these delightful Jingle Bell ribbon Rings! Jingle all the way! Nothing says Christmas like the sound of jingle bells. We ll jingle and jangle and sip hot chocolate (whipped cream, optional) and nibble on graham crackers as we make these delightful keepsakes. Friday, December 16 th Cookie Decorating Teacher: Mrs. Tobin, Academy 1 Who: Kindergarten-2 nd Grade Join Academy 1 teacher Mrs. Tobin as we decorate sugar cookies cut into fun holiday shapes. We will be singing and dancing along to holiday songs as we adorn our cookies with frosting and sprinkles. Every student will go home with a box of their decorated cookies! 5

Christmas Party Games & Treats Teacher: Mrs. DePalma. Kindergarten Teacher C Who: K - 4 th Grade Cost $20 + $15 materials fee = $35 Enjoy the Holiday Season with your Sacred Heart friends! This class focuses on children engaging in Christmas party games and making delicious treats. After each game, every child will dig into Santa s toy chest for a prize. Everyone is a WINNER! Ho! Ho! Ho! Sign up and let s go! Christmas Cookie, Karaoke, and Crafting! Teachers: Mrs. Lesser & Ms. Patterson, Academy 5 Who: 3 rd -8 th Grade Join Mrs. Lesser and Ms. Patterson for Holiday Fun. Each girl will decorate a fun holiday treat while making holiday jewelry and rocking out to holiday Karaoke tunes. Holiday Jingo! Teacher: Mrs. Edwards, LS Religion Teacher Who: 1 st -5 th Grade Cost: $20 + $3 materials fee = $23 What s more fun than playing BINGO with candy and winning prizes while listening to holiday music and eating some holiday treats with your friends?
