MEDIA RELEASE IBF launches #FutureMeNow movement to spur finance professionals towards acquiring future skills Movement kick-started with pledges by Finance Leaders and Winners of the 2018 IBF Awards Singapore, 4 October 2018 The Institute of and Finance Singapore (IBF) today announced a new movement #FutureMeNow to encourage Singapore s financial industry professionals to take the next step to be future ready. The movement aims to attract pledges of action, where financial industry professionals can commit to skills upgrading, career planning or mentoring others. The movement kick-started with pledges from finance industry leaders and the winners of the prestigious IBF Awards at the annual IBF gala dinner, the IBF Distinction Evening 2018. At the IBF Distinction Evening 2018, Guest of Honour Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry, delivered the keynote address highlighting the importance of tripartite efforts to transform the sector s workforce into a skilled and tech-enabled workforce. Mr Chan called for leaders to adopt good human capital practices and to prepare the workforce for change. The occasion saw seven individuals receive the IBF Distinguished Fellow award. Another 28 were awarded the IBF Fellow awards. The awards recognise finance industry professionals who contribute to the development of Singapore s financial sector through their active involvement in advisory groups, industry projects, training and mentoring. New competencies to complement business transformation In recognition of the importance of creating a digital-ready workforce, IBF introduced a new IBF Fellow award segment, Digitalisation and Transformation. The new award segment recognises the efforts of those who have played a significant role in the adoption of new technologies and the equipping of their employees with new digital skillsets. We expect digitalisation to transform jobs and processes in the financial industry. The industry needs leaders like the IBF Distinguished Fellows and Fellows to lead the way and get their workforce ready for the changes, said Mr Ng Nam Sin, Chief Executive Officer, IBF.
