MEDIA RELEASE IBF launches #FutureMeNow movement to spur finance professionals towards acquiring future skills Movement kick-started with pledges by Finance Leaders and Winners of the 2018 IBF Awards Singapore, 4 October 2018 The Institute of and Finance Singapore (IBF) today announced a new movement #FutureMeNow to encourage Singapore s financial industry professionals to take the next step to be future ready. The movement aims to attract pledges of action, where financial industry professionals can commit to skills upgrading, career planning or mentoring others. The movement kick-started with pledges from finance industry leaders and the winners of the prestigious IBF Awards at the annual IBF gala dinner, the IBF Distinction Evening 2018. At the IBF Distinction Evening 2018, Guest of Honour Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry, delivered the keynote address highlighting the importance of tripartite efforts to transform the sector s workforce into a skilled and tech-enabled workforce. Mr Chan called for leaders to adopt good human capital practices and to prepare the workforce for change. The occasion saw seven individuals receive the IBF Distinguished Fellow award. Another 28 were awarded the IBF Fellow awards. The awards recognise finance industry professionals who contribute to the development of Singapore s financial sector through their active involvement in advisory groups, industry projects, training and mentoring. New competencies to complement business transformation In recognition of the importance of creating a digital-ready workforce, IBF introduced a new IBF Fellow award segment, Digitalisation and Transformation. The new award segment recognises the efforts of those who have played a significant role in the adoption of new technologies and the equipping of their employees with new digital skillsets. We expect digitalisation to transform jobs and processes in the financial industry. The industry needs leaders like the IBF Distinguished Fellows and Fellows to lead the way and get their workforce ready for the changes, said Mr Ng Nam Sin, Chief Executive Officer, IBF. For more details on the IBF Award categories and 2018 recipients, please refer to the Annexes. END

IBF represents the interests of close to 200 member financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, securities brokerages and asset management firms. In partnership with the financial industry, government agencies, training providers and the trade unions, IBF is committed to equip practitioners with capabilities to support the growth of Singapore s financial industry. IBF is the national accreditation and certification agency for financial industry competency in Singapore under the IBF Standards, which were developed in partnership with the industry. The IBF Standards set out the functional skills required for 12 industry segments and more than 50 jobs in the financial industry, guiding IBF accreditation of structured skills training programmes. Individuals who complete the IBF-accredited skills training programmes and meet the relevant criteria may apply for IBF Certification. Under Workforce Singapore s Adapt and Grow initiative, IBF is the appointed programme manager for the administration of professional conversion programmes for the financial industry. As programme manager, IBF will partner financial institutions to re-skill employees for expanded roles and opportunities in growth areas. IBF also provides personalised career advisory and job matching services to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents exploring a new role in, or career switch into the financial industry, under IBF Careers Connect.
