July 11 15, 10am noon Fee per 4-7 Sew your own Pajama Pants Carole Price 4-7 Mosaic Madness! taught by Sandy Caruso 1-3 Fiber Arts Sampler Learn to sew by making this simple project, pajama bottoms with a drawstring! Previous sewing experience will be helpful. You will learn how to read a pattern, layout and cut fabric, and piecing. You will choose and purchase your own fabric to bring to class, and use the Barn s machine. Students will learn ceramic cutting techniques with nippers, as well as techniques for gluing and grouting. There will be a large number of ceramic pieces to choose from, including found objects. Students can expect messy fun creating their mosaic frame! This is a class where it's ok to break stuff! Learn to weave a colorful, classic potholder; create your very own fabric, and use it to make a small quilt; and learn to cut from a pattern, then learn basic sewing skills by making a Minion pincushion! $60

July 11 15, 1 3pm Description Image Fee per 4-7 Sew Your Own Quillow Carole Price 7-12 Learn to Draw: Pencil, Pen & Ink Mary Lou Holt 7-12 Weaving Learn to sew on a sewing machine, including setup, tensioning, and stitching. This fun sewing project will introduce your child to basic sewing. A Quillow is a fleece quilt/pillow used for overnights. Your child will be proud to take their unique creation to overnights this summer and into the fall. You ll bring fabric and matching thread to class, and sew on the Barn's sewing machine. Learn how to see the world as an artist sees it. We will start with line drawing techniques, learn basic eye/hand coordination, learn how to identify positive and negative shapes, and draw objects accurately. Light, shadow and tonal values and perspective will be taught using simple shapes and still-life objects. We will move into pen & ink at the end of the. You will purchase materials from a list provided by Mary Lou so that you can continue to draw at home (will not exceed $25). Have you always wanted to learn to weave? Rigid Heddle weaving is a great way to start! They are small, & easy to work with, and use easy-to-find knitting yarns for great results! In this class, the students will learn to easily "warp" (string) the Loom & make a balanced weave scarf with self-patterning yarn. You will choose & purchase your own yarn to bring to class. $60 $35 plus basic drawing kit plus yarn

July 11 15, 3:30 5:30pm Grades* * Fee per 1-3 Sweater Monsters! Chelsea Green Learn some of the basics of fiber arts in this class. We'll start with simple crocheting and knitting, and work our way up to making Sweater Monsters from upcycled sweaters. You will create your own pattern, cut around it, stitch it, stuff it, and bring your monster to life with eyes, hats, and embellishments! $60 4-7 Fiber Arts Sampler This fiber arts class samples sculptural items such as a basket, fabric dying, quilting, free weaving, and more! $60

July 18 22, 10am noon 1-3 Animal Art Adventure Beth Renick Interested in animals and art? This may be the place for you. We will create sculpture as well as paintings and collage in this class. Come join the adventure! Fee per $30 4-7 Mange & Anime taught by Dave Laug Learn to Cartoon in this creative class. Explore the basics of developing characters for manga and anime art. Work on facial shapes and profiles, and progress to developing the body and gestures for your character. 4-7 Weaving Have you always wanted to learn to weave? July 18 22, 1pm 3pm Fee per 1-3 Make Art Like Great Artists Beth Renick Learn about artists such as Monet, Kandinsky, Seurat, Chihuly, and Pollock as we create our own renditions of their art using their style. $30 8-12 Plein Air Painting taught by Eileen McConkey 1-3 Punch Needle Embroidery Students will learn the thinking process of painting outside including the decision making on subject matter, with a very strong emphasis on compositional elements, color mixing with a very limited palette, some color theory. 1-2 days will be spent inside preparing for 3-4 days painting outside. You can use your new skills this October at the Mariemont Paint Out! You will purchase a basic art kit not to exceed $35 so you can continue painting after this class ends. Learn a fun technique to create your own designs on fabric using a punch needle! You will stretch weaver's cloth on an embroidery hoop, load your needle with thread, and "ppunch" loops to fill in the various colors of your design. All materials supplied. $55 $65

July 25 29, 10am - noon 4-7 Acrylic Painting at the Easel Dave Laug Learn to express yourself with this awesomely versatile and fun medium! We will be inspired by a different great Master each day and paint original works reflecting that style. Wear old clothes that you won't mind splashing with paint! We will hold a Friday exhibition of our students' work. Fee per $45 1-3 Mandalas taught by Fab Duell The mandala is one of humankind's most ancient art forms. With the circle as its basis, it reflects eternity and all of nature: the sun, the moon and even the bird's nest. "Mandala" is Sanskrit for circle. In this class you will design and create your own personal mandalas using chalk, paint, even old LP's (vinyl records). 4-12 Rug Weaving Come with an old bedsheet or fabric you don t love, tear it up, and put it on a rug loom for your warp. Then, take an old sheet, or fabric that you do love and we will teach you how to weave a wonderful rug for your kitchen floor. If there is time, we can move on to placemets.

July 25 29, 1 3pm Fee per 1-3 Great Books Great Art Missy Fields 4-7 Journey into Abstractio n taught by Fab Duell Explore art through great children's books! In this class, we will create beautiful pieces using the techniques of great children's book illustrators: Keats, Willems, Lionni, Carle, Elhert and more. This camp uses the seven elements of art to explore abstraction as a pathway to self-expression. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with composition to find their personal mark (line, color, shape and texture). We will explore block stamping, texture art, painting like Kandinsky, geometric abstracts, monotypes, line painting, Suminagashi, and symmetry prints. $30

July 25 29, 4 6pm Fee per 1-3 Make a Collage Journal Carolyn Tindal These collage journals are based on cardboard books.
