National Coach Call Audio Transcription Topic: The Power of Influence Host: Sr. Vice President of Marketing, Neimand Featured Speakers: President Congdon plus 11 Star Diamond Coach Koehler Date: November 12, 2012 : In this business, all of you as Coaches and so many people, one of the great things about what we do is that our actions inspire others to do things. I had just come off the Reset with Carl, which I probably would not have done but Carl stepped up and did it so I said if he can do it I can do it too. I did the Reset, which was great once I got engaged, I said OK as soon as I m done I ll dive into a program. As the Reset came to an end, my enthusiasm started to wane until I opened up my email and I was inspired by the next person we have on this call who actually stood up and said hey, I m going to start my own P90X Challenge Group and I thought if this guy, who has been through so much, can start his own challenge Group, then I need to join that group and do it with him. I m excited to welcome on this call a guy that just finished Day 1 of his Challenge Group, co- founder of Beachbody and President. The official Comeback Kid Congdon. I am here, thanks. I finished Day 1 today and I m glad this call starts at 9:00 and not at 8:30 because I m not sure I would have been able to speak coherently after my workout. It was pretty ugly. We showed up and did it. Actually an old friend of mine from UCLA showed up, people from the office, and Bryan Carney was helping out. It s almost not fair because I got a little more help than most people get that work out at home with their own DVD. But that s kind of the idea with the Challenge Group, we ve got people around us, supporting us whether its in person or around the country. I don t know if you know this but we passed over 2400 people in the Challenge Group this morning. It s pretty amazing since I thought it would be close to 1000. So I think by the end of the day, we might get over 2500 people. But more important than the number of people who start is the number of people who finish. That s what I love about Challenge Groups because people can keep each other accountable and you ve got somebody right along side of you helping you get through it. Today was ugly and a completely different experience than the first time I did P90X. I was in pretty good shape, playing volleyball, working out regularly. This time, other than walking my dog and doing light
cardio and some rehab exercises on my knee. I literally have not worked out for over a year, not intensely in any way, shape or form. So I was really struggling today. But it is very helpful to know that there are 2400 people out there that are going to be going through the same thing that I am. A lot of them have joined specifically because they consider themselves in the middle of a comeback or starting a comeback also, so that was inspiring. But, man it was tough. All I tried to do is get through the day and I ll show up again tomorrow. I know it will get gradually get easier and at some point in the near future I ll be feeling pretty good. Hey, all week I ve been looking forward to getting started on this. I had a lot of enthusiasm until last night I started to get nervous. I was thinking about what s ahead of me. I ve got 90 days of getting my butt kicked and I started getting nervous. Did you have that same feeling? Absolutely. I know I m not in very good shape but I also didn t know what I was going to be facing. I ve got to tell you that as tough as it was today, it s wasn t that bad. Now that the workout is done I m happy I did it. I guess it s human nature, we get nervous, we get a little scared, we know its going to be challenging, but its just not that bad. It s not like you re having the time of your life when you realize you ve got to go to your knees on push ups and by about the 5 th set of push ups and you don t remember ever having to do that before but there are a lot of people that are on their knees the very first time they do P90X. I have a new appreciation for people who started P90X who started off in pretty bad shape. You know, it takes a little bit of courage. My dad used to always say if it doesn t make you a little scared then it may not be worth doing. It s funny, last night I was thinking even though it s a physical workout its probably not that different for a new Coach that gets started and has all the enthusiasm but then the realization sets in that I m going to have to make that call, I m going to have to do this. Just like my push- ups are going to be today, its not going to be that pretty for a week or so. As a Coach you are going to struggle but when you do it everyday, when you find something, that reason to say I m going to commit for 90 days and it s going to be tough. Whether it s P90X or it s kicking off your Beachbody coaching career, by the 90 th day suddenly things get a lot easier and you have results to show.
And I think you re right, if you view it as something you just do and you show up for, in 90 days you re form is better. You know, I don t know many Coaches who s businesses have really escalated, who were doing really well, who actually think they re that great at anything they do. They just show up and do it. It s not that they re amazing at it, they just do it. There are so many parallels between starting a round of P90X and getting a coaching business going it s just a matter of showing up. Well, I m excited that you showed up today and I promise I wont back out before my workout today. Thanks for being an inspiration to me and the 2500 that are doing the challenge with you. It s going to be a fun 90 days. It s going to be great. If you want to keep up with me on my Challenge Group Facebook page its called Comeback Kids Challenge Group. Thanks. Thanks so much for having me on the call. Our next guest has definitely shown up every day. She has a tremendous before and after as it relates to her business. I m excited to bring her on the call. She joined Team Beachbody back in July of 2009 and within one year she had reached 1 star Diamond Coach. She is currently an 11 Star Diamond Coach. Probably her most impressive things on a long list of accomplishments is that she has qualified for Success Club consecutively for 34 months. We talk all the time about how the consistency of that behavior pays off. is one of the best examples of that. In fact looking back at 2011 to now, she has more than doubled her income. She was an Elite Coach in 2010 and 2011. Has 15 lifetime Diamond Coaches. This year alone, she has earned 82 Success Club points. I could go on and on but instead I ll bring her on! Let s welcome Koehler (pronounced Keeler) Thank you so much. It s so exciting hearing you say all those things.
Well, I just say it, you actually made it happen. Congratulations. Well thank you. I m really excited and before I get started I just wanted to give a shout out to one of the 1 Star Diamonds that was announced on the call, Chris Ojakian, my personally- sponsored Coach. I met him as a customer lead through Beachbody. Most people probably see all of my posts on Facebook about I ve moved to Atlanta, I just moved into a beautiful brand new house with my daughter, I got a fancy new car, I m going to give a shout out to Jeremy Redd because he s always calling me a Diva with my shoes and stuff, but let me take you back to my life before Beachbody. My life wasn t quite so glamorous or exciting. What most people don t realize is there was actually a point in my life when I was on public aid and I was living in public housing. I was struggling to no end. I was lost and I was living my life but life really wasn t happening. My husband and I were living paycheck to paycheck. We even went to those places where they give you cash for things and we were getting further and further into debt. There was no way out. It was a really scary time in my life where I asked myself what am I going to do next, how am I going to get out of this, what life am I living? I felt totally lost. Eventually I ended up divorcing my daughter s father. A month later, I signed up for Beachbody and right after that it was one thing after another; I got divorced, my grandmother died, I was getting phone calls and letters from my mortgage company, my car was repossessed. I can remember asking my mother for money at least once a week in tears because my power was turned off. Whether it was to pay the house payment or the car payment, I was flat broke. I was in a house that was on the market for 18 months, couldn t sell it. Obviously that mortgage payment was based on two incomes, not one. Again, I didn t know how to get out of this. I do feel that Beachbody was the one thing that kept me going. The family, the friends, the people I connected with, that positive outreach you know the saying You re most like the 5 people you surround yourself with and Kristina Sullins is my Coach and Lauren Knight signed up with me and we just built this incredible team and we re having weekly calls and we were doing all this cool stuff. I just kept going despite all the negative stuff that happened. My ex- husband filed for bankruptcy and all the bills were now coming to me and I had no choice but to file bankruptcy myself. I still kept going and plugging away doing my full time job. Eventually I would become known as the Shakeology Nazi (Shake Nazi) because I believed in the product so much. I believe that you have a choice no matter what you re going through today, some of you right now, the holidays are coming and you re thinking, how am I even going to put thanksgiving dinner on my table. That s the part I was at where I didn t even know how we were going to pay for Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas. Plus I have a daughter that I want to spoil with everything that I didn t have, create a wonderful life for her, but lets face it, people get stuck in dead- end jobs, we re not going anywhere, those jobs are not going to be there for you. You have to do something for yourself.
Every time someone said no to me, it gave me more fuel and my fire. I said, you know what, you just sit back and watch me because I m going to do it. So I remember, I plugged into every training. just mentioned a training in Chicago this Saturday, so if you re in that area, you better be there. My first Corporate event was January 2010 in Chicago. I think that is when Success Club first came out and the next month I hit Success Club. I thought that was pretty cool and then I hit it again in February. I started getting leads, my paychecks were increasing, it was cool. I said I was going to hit Success Club 5 no matter what. I really wanted to push myself to hit Success Club 10 but Success Club 5 was my main focus every month. At about 6 months into the year, I received an email about Elite status and it showed I was in qualification. This turned out to be a wonderful benchmark to hit Elite status and build a foundation for a strong business. We re only in November but after the first 9 months of this year I had already earned what would have taken me 5 years to earn at my full time job. That is something I never expected. I m sure many of you on this call are thinking Is that ever going to happen to me. There were times I asked myself the same question. I m living proof that if you stay consistent and hit Success Club every month it is possible. My daughter and I just moved into a beautiful new home. After I sold my house we were living in a small, dingy, two- bedroom apartment. I could hear the neighbors below fighting and it would keep us up at night. So to see my daughter living in this house now is amazing. I do this full time, I m able to pick up my daughter from school every day, do amazing things for my family and enjoying life. Just being that positive light that so many people are searching for. People are desperate for someone to show them an opportunity to be a part of something special. Success Club, now you have no excuse not to go to Summit. Like said, Summit is the event of the year. This will be my 4 th Summit, I have already signed up plus I have my extra ticket1 Summit is the moment when everything clicks, you re surrounded by 6,000 people with all this energy. You get to see dressed in the Shakeology suit, Carl, the celebrity fitness trainers, top leaders, and learn from the best of the best. You want to get your team to Summit because you re going to grow and bond and build this amazing organization together. I polled my team, I already have 50 people that have signed up that are going to be there. I reached out to them and asked what would be their main reason to get to Summit here is what they answered: for the training, friendships, energy, celebrity trainers, announcements, stories, workshops, and workouts. If you re on my team you have to sing a song. That s how we get down in Atlanta. My Coach Tarah Carr said this: You go to Summit for your ah- ha moment. If they think they ve had that moment already things are about to hit the fan. You need to physically be there to show yourself and your team your commitment. Another Coach said her income doubled since Summit. If those aren t reasons enough to get to Summit plus the Free Ticket to Ride. Get there, get your team there. You have 6 months to save up for your flight and hotel. It doesn t really matter where you ve been or what you ve been through its about where you re going. Today, you have a choice, whatever is holding you back, make that your fuel. Whether it s your own fear, insecurities, prove to others they re wrong.
Wow, what an inspirational message. I have two questions for you. You had mentioned that in January 2010 you got into Success Club but before that you weren t doing much in your business. Starting in January 2010, your checks started to grow week by week. Was there one thing that you changed that tipped the scales? The Game Plan Training that I went to was life changing. I stayed consistent with sharing the business with 2 people a day, creating a hype. I also plugged into personal development and focusing on myself, pushing all the negative energy that I was surrounded with. I focused on growing and becoming the best me. One last thing I wanted to ask you is if you had to pick one thing, one way that your life has changed in the last 2 ½ years. What has impacted you the most? The freedom. Having the financial stability to be able to do what I want. For Christmas last year I was able to pay for a cabin in Smokey Mountain for my entire family. I m a single mom and moved to Atlanta, my entire support system is in Illinois. I still have struggles. For the last year my daughter has been in and out of the hospital for depression and self- harm. If I had to work a full time job, I wouldn t have been able to support her and give her the care she needs. I wouldn t be able to afford the care she needed. I can now go over and beyond. Thank you for getting on the call and for your contribution. Thank you. I love Beachbody.
