1 Planning SpeedPRO Raceway System Installation and Planning Guide an Installation Customer Needs Ensure you speak to the right person in the organization and establish the actual customer. Consult the person who specified and ordered the work, and if possible the person who will operate the completed installation. Determine the required capacity and plan for the future (an additional 50% is recommended), as retrofitting is more expensive than initial additional capacity. See Appendix C for fiber optic and copper cable capacities of raceways. Agree on the layout and timing schedules. Confirm the working area available when on site. Site Survey The Raceway Path Establish the equipment and termination locations. Establish a clear path between equipment locations and check for obstructions along the entire path. Note the height of the best path. Establish the method of entry to the equipment racks. Page 1 of 23

Note the steelwork available for raceway mounting. Determine if it is Unistrut (square channel), square section, circular section, ladder rack, or other type. Establish the best method of attaching the raceway. The Raceway Plan Prepare a scale drawing of the horizontal raceway path and record the path height above the equipment racks as shown below. Draw the vertical paths and entry to the racks. Prepare an isometric view of the raceway layout (horizontal and vertical paths). An example is shown in Appendix A. Establish a Bill of Materials (BOM) List all the horizontal raceway channels, brackets, and the mounting brackets that attach them. Allow one mounting point for each meter of channel and a mounting point for each drop or access point. List all the horizontal raceway components including ones for drops and feeds into racks. Review the items listed in the two raceway illustrations; scale plan view and isometric view. Include extra joiners (5%), channel brackets, mounting hardware, and extra nuts and bolts. Include glue for subfloor mounting brackets, if no drilling is allowed on site. Page 2 of 23

2 Site The materials, kits, and tools listed in Appendix B will assist in putting together the BOM. An example BOM is shown below. Establish available working hours and verify any site requirements, such as whether passes are required or if alarms are present. Establish all schedules, such as for material delivery, etc. Site specific requirements, such as power tools, union tickets, and induction courses. The Quote Materials Establish the material costs from BOM and relevant price lists. Labor Confirm the raceway path length and allow about 5 meters of raceway per man hour. Overhead Include travel, accommodation, meals, etc. Agree on the final specification and cost. Submit the quote, with a plan and parts list, and agree with the customer on its suitability or any variations or special conditions. Delivery Confirm product availability and delivery schedule. Preparation On Arrival at Installation Site Status Checks / Variations Ensure that nothing has changed from the agreed specification. Confirm that access and worksite areas are still available as planned. Page 3 of 23

3 Installation 4 Acceptance Delivery Status and Parts Availability Confirm all the components have arrived. Check the Bill of Materials against the delivery docket /packing list. The packing list itemizes all the individual components supplied. Raceway Path Confirm the raceway path is clear, as per the plan and that the mounting positions remain the same. Fit the appropriate mounting hardware (ensure heights are level). Break the job into manageable sections that can be easily assembled and lifted into place. Start, where possible, from one end and work along raceway path snapping the channels and components together. Lay out the first section on the floor below the mounting brackets to confirm the assembly dimensions. Measure and mark the channel lengths and drop positions required, allowing 5mm for joiners. Cut the channel to length using a miter box to ensure a square cut. Cut the channel covers to length. To save time, cut covers when cutting channel lengths and remember to add an extra 5mm to cover lengths to allow for joiners on assembly. Slot the shortened raceway (use of any-point joiners eliminates this action). Where necessary cut out the segments for the drops. Remember, the large cutout tool is used for 100mm drops, etc. Support the channel lengths using C-type mounting brackets. Do not fully tighten the bolts, as this makes it easier to attach the components together. Complete the horizontal raceway installation. Fit the breakouts to the racks and vertical components. Upon completion, tighten all the bolts etc. Ensure all raceways are at the correct levels and that all drop positions are located accurately. Clean the raceway using only Isopropyl alcohol or mild soapy detergent solution. Procedures Complete the Quality Checklist Is the raceway clean? Are the covers fitted securely? Are the mounting brackets tight? Are all the drops located per plan and in the racks? Is the worksite completely clean? Have we obtained client acceptance? Page 4 of 23

This radius guide (outlet trumpet) allows patch cords to enter and leave the optical fiber raceway system in an organized manner, while maintaining the 30mm (1.2") minimum fiber bending radius. It is fitted in the slot of either 100mm, 100 x 50mm, 50mm and 30mm (4", 4" x 2", 2" and 1.25") raceway system where it snaps into place to provide organized, low stress fiber access. This guide is used where pigtails and patch cords are routed around 90 corners. It is a simple means of providing a 30mm (1.2") radius guide that eliminates fiber stress through bending. The guide is basically a curved surface with a clip at one end that enables it to be clipped to any flat surface of a thickness between 1.6mm and 3.0mm. It can also be clipped into itself, both length and sideways to extend the guide angle or increase the surface area available. The pigtail radius guide kit is used to ensure that fiber remains stress-free when it is bent around corners (ie. When laid out in a building or equipment racks). It is basically a preformed 90 bend that provides a 70mm (2.7") diameter trough into which a pigtail can be clipped to provide protection against kinking. The guides are interlocking so that many can be joined to form U- turns, circles, and spirals as required. The ramp-up is used in conjunction with the 100mm x 50mm (4" x 2") breakout (Part No: 760174680 SIDE-DROP-KIT-SP-100L-YL) to prevent stressing fiber by maintaining a safe bending radius for the fiber being dropped off or leaving 300mm, 220mm or 100mm (12", 8" or 4") channel. It does this simply by providing a curved ramp-up on which fiber is able to form a 30mm (1.2") radius. The channel side is prepared using item (Part No: 760184481 CUT-OUT-TOOL-KIT- 150MM), available separately. The ramp-up is used in conjunction with the 50mm x 50mm (2" x 2") breakout to prevent stressing fiber by maintaining a safe bending radius for the fiber being dropped off or leaving: 300mm, 220mm or 100mm (12", 8" or 4") channel. It does this simply by providing a curved ramp-up on which fiber is able to form a 30mm (1.2") radius. The channel side is prepared using Page 19 of 23
