BROOKHAVEN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER PROUDLY RECOGNIZES THE JOHN WHITE FAMILY AS THE 2017 COMMUNITY HONOREE As a hospital founder, John White was one of the most instrumental community members for the development of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. His dedication and commitment continues to live on as we have grown to serve over 400,000 lives in our community. Simply put, this incredible community resource would not be here if not for the hard work of the founders. The White Family s generosity and desire to improve people s lives is vastly evident by their philanthropic support of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, as well as their support of other local institutions and charitable organizations. Their leadership in giving is an inspiration to others in the community to do the same. There is no greater legacy, and family, that deserves to be honored. The White Family has had a profound impact on not just the hospital, but the entire community that we are dedicated to serving. We are thrilled to honor John White with his daughters Janet White Foster, Dr. Rosemary White-Traut and Susan White Callahan and their families.

Dr. Rothberg as the 2017 Jacob Dranitzke Award Recipient Charles Rothberg, MD is a widely respected board certified ophthalmologist with a private practice in Patchogue, NY specializing in laser vision correction as well as the management and treatment of cataract, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Rothberg has served on Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center (BMHMC) medical staff for more than 27 years, and is the current President of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY). The MSSNY is a non-profit organization committed to representing the medical profession as a whole and advocating health related rights, responsibilities and issues for all New York residents. Their membership includes over 30,000 licensed physicians, medical residents, and medical students across the state. A graduate of Muhlenberg College, Dr. Rothberg earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He received his internship training in internal medicine at Nassau County Medical Center and his residency training in ophthalmology at Kings County Hospital. Dr. Rothberg has been actively involved in organized medicine ever since he first sought guidance from his county medical society on starting a practice. He has been president of the Suffolk County Medical Society, the Suffolk Academy of Medicine, and the Second District Branch of MSSNY (Nassau/Suffolk). For seven years, he represented his county as MSSNY Councilor. Additionally, he has been a delegate to the AMA for 11 years and is currently vice chair of the MSSNY Delegation, who honored him with the Charles Sherman Award. Sound Physicians as the 2017 Corporate Honoree Sound Physicians, founded in 2001, is a leading provider of hospitalist services with a proven track record of improving quality, satisfaction and financial performance for its hospital partners nationwide.
