Genealogy Society Of Craighead County, Arkansas This month s meeting will at trip To the Arkansas History Commission Next meeting: Saturday, April 21, 2001 VOLUME NUMBER FIVE, ISSUE NUMBER FOUR APRIL 2001 MEETING HAPPENINGS: The March Meeting was held at the Jonesboro Library on Sunday March 18, 2001. We shared maps that we have found to be useful along with addresses to get others. Many thanks to all who brought their maps. EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING: The Executive Board met on 7 April 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Library. 1. Part 1 of the 1910 Census is should go to the printer this week. 2. Next Executive Board Meeting will be 12 May 2001 at 2:00 pm at the Jonesboro Library. DUES Dues are $15.00 a year. They can be mailed to GSCCA (Genealogy Society of Craighead County, Arkansas) P.O. Box 2614, Jonesboro, AR 72402-2614. We would be glad to have you with us. APRIL MEETING: The April meeting will be a trip to the Arkansas History Commission. The trip will be April 21, 2001. We will again leave from the library at 6:00 a.m. and return about 6:00-7:00 p.m. Make your plans now to join us. Past issues of the newsletter contain information on what is available at the History Commission. They can be viewed on-line through the Genealogy Society of Craighead County Arkansas website or at the Jonesboro Library. 1910 Craighead County Census The 1910 Craighead County Census will be published in two volumes. Volume I will contain the following townships: Big Creek; Black Oak; Brookland; Buffalo; Gilkerson, Greenfield; Herndon; Powell; and part of Jonesboro (not including Jonesboro City). Volume II will include Jonesboro City; Lake City; Lester; Little Texas; Prairie; Nettleton; Promised Land; Texas; and Maumelle. The townships follow the order in which they appear on the microfilm. Volume I will be ready for purchase by the end of April 30, 2001 and Volume II should be ready by July 1, 2001. The cost of each volume is $30 for non-members and $25 for members. The set may be purchased for $50 for non-members and $45 for members. MAY MEETING: The May meeting will be held on May 20, 2001. It will be at the Jonesboro Library at 2:00. The program will be the Clover Bend Restoration presented by Viola Meadows. 1
