Speaker bios Eduardo A. Campirano Port Director and CEO, Port of Brownsville Eduardo A. Campirano is the Port Director of the Port of Brownsville. In this position, he is responsible for the operations of the only U.S. deep water seaport located directly on the United States-Mexico border. Under Campirano s leadership, the Port of Brownsville has improved its financial position by increasing its cash reserves while reducing property taxes, undertaken major road and infrastructure improvements and has attracted port-related investments through public and private sector partnerships. In 2012, the port received a $12 million TIGER IV grant for the construction of a new heavy cargo dock. Since 2012, the port s Foreign Trade Zone No. 62 has ranked in the top three nationwide for the value of exported commodities. Campirano is the immediate past president for the Texas Ports Association, chairman of the Maritime Economic Development committee for the American Association of Port Authorities and serves as a member of the Ports Authority Advisory Committee and the Border Trade Advisory Committee. Jorge Canavati Principal, J. Canavati & Co. LLC Jorge Canavati is the principal at J. Canavati & Co. LLC, an agency, international commercial representation and consulting company with a focus on logistics and international trade. His company is an agent for BNSF logistics, a global freight company. He has more than 30 years of experience in international trade, multimodal transportation, air cargo and logistics. Canavati is the author of various articles and editorials on trade and transportation issues with a focus on the NAFTA marketplace. He lectures at various universities and participates on high level panels at international trade events. Jake Giesbrecht Executive Director, Presidio International Port Authority Jake Giesbrecht is the Executive Director of the Presidio International Port Authority. Prior to that, Giesbrecht was the president of the Presidio Municipal Development District and now serves as their ambassador (board member). In 2013 Giesbrecht was employed by Presidio County to coordinate and manage the international bridge project. In 2015, Presidio county and the city collaborated in a local agreement to create the Presidio International Port Authority (PIPA) to manage the international bridge. For the past eleven years Giesbrecht has also served as president of the Consejo de Desaroollo Economico Del Estado de Chihuahua (CODER) and the regional division of CODECH for Ojinaga Chihuhahua. 4

Enrique J. Marroquin President, Hunt Mexico, Inc. As president of Hunt Mexico, Marroquin has been responsible for leading the efforts to expand Hunt s presence in Mexico by developing business opportunities in the energy and non-energy sectors. He also currently spearheads, as senior vice president of Hunt Power, all development activities in the desert southwest and along the border with Mexico, which include the development of the Nogales DC Tie project, a 150 MW direct current interconnection project that would interconnect that Southern Arizona and Sonora electric grids. Marroquin was a member of the team that developed the first commercial electrical interconnection between Texas and Mexico in 2007 and in 2009 he established one of the first wholesale power marketing entities that advanced considerably the relationship between ERCOT-and CFE, Mexico s electric utility. He continues to be a strong advocate for an integrated cross-border energy marketplace. His work also includes developing opportunities for Hunt s non-energy business units including investments and real estate. Marroquin holds an MBA from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business of Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, a MASc in chemical engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a BSc in chemical and systems engineering, graduating magna cum laude from Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM). He also participates with ITESM and the Cox School of Business in diverse student mentoring and academic activities. He serves on the board of the John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies at SMU and is a founding member of the AEM Dallas Chapter, and currently serves on the board as well, and participates in several high-level US-Mexico dialogues and initiatives including the US-Mexico CEO Dialogue, the US-Mexico Energy Business Council and is often invited to speak as a leading expert regarding US-Mexico and North American Energy integration. Rolando Pablos Texas Secretary of State and Chair, Border Trade Advisory Committee Governor Greg Abbott appointed Rolando B. Pablos as the 111th Texas secretary of state on January 5, 2017. Secretary Pablos brings an extensive record of public service to the Office of the Secretary of State, including tenure as a commissioner on the Texas Racing Commission and the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Secretary Pablos understands the importance of leveraging strategic community capacity in order to foster economic growth and attract investment to Texas. As both a state official and in his private practice, he has played critical roles in the advancement of international trade with Texas, especially through his advocacy for cross-border collaboration between the US and Mexico. 5

Speaker bios Michael Reeves President, Ports-to-Plains Alliance Michael Reeves was appointed as president of the Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor Coalition in the spring of 2004. Reeves has extensive knowledge of transportation issues and governmental affairs at local, state and federal levels. During his time at Ports-to-Plains, Reeves has focused on strengthening relationships with state departments of transportation and building partnerships in Canada and Mexico. Under his leadership, the coalition is also working on decreasing America s dependence on Middle East oil by providing needed infrastructure to support the region s diverse energy production industry. Prior to Ports-to-Plains, Reeves served as vice president of governmental affairs for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. There he was involved with coordinating transportation initiatives, including delegation appearances before the Texas Transportation Commission, and serving as liaison between TxDOT and the business community. Reeves also led the chamber s legislative programs and conducted communications efforts. Reeves graduated from Texas Tech University in 1991 with a BA in journalism. Ryan Sitton Commissioner, Texas Railroad Commission With nearly 20 years of experience in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, Commissioner Ryan Sitton is considered a leader in his field and has provided expert testimony in both regulatory and civil court cases. He has served on the board of several energy trade associations, and is currently on the board of the Texas A&M Energy Institute and the Texas A&M Engineering Advisory Council. In 2006, Commissioner Sitton founded Pinnacle Advanced Reliability Technologies, an engineering and technology company focused on reliability and integrity programs for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Since 2006, Pinnacle has grown substantially, today employing more than 600 people. In three separate years, Inc. Magazine recognized Pinnacle as one of the 1,000 fastest-growing, privately held companies in the nation. For four consecutive years, Pinnacle was one of the coveted Aggie 100 recipients, which celebrates and recognizes the fastest-growing aggie-owned or aggie-led businesses in the world. 6
