Brett Harris Western Bureau Chief, BNN Brett Harris is the Western Bureau Chief for the Business News Network. Brett was one of the original cast members of BNN when it launched in September 1999. As a host, reporter and features producer, Brett has helped build the specialty channel into Canada s premier broadcast source for business and capital markets news. Before joining BNN, Brett spent 10 years with CBC Television and Radio as a reporter, political correspondent, host and documentary producer. He has also worked as an independent television producer overseas and as a newspaper correspondent.
Duane Reid-Carlson, P. Eng. President, EDC Associates Duane Reid-Carlson has 24 years experience working in the oil and gas, petrochemical and electric industries. He is currently the President of EDC Associates Ltd a company that he founded in 1992. Since that time Mr. Reid-Carlson has led a team of energy economic analysts that have been responsible for providing electric energy supply, demand and price forecast information, energy procurement, risk management, generation development and regulatory analytical services. These services and information is generally used by participants in the electric industry to help support short and long-term energy procurement and investment decisions. Mr. Reid-Carlson holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada. Mr. Reid-Carlson is a Director of the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta (IPPSA).
Robert Bob Ineson Senior Director, IHS CERA, Global Gas Robert Ineson, IHS CERA Senior Director, leads IHS CERA s North American Natural Gas and Global LNG research activities. Mr. Ineson is a coauthor, with IHS CERA Chairman Daniel Yergin, of The Wall Street Journal op-ed piece "America s Natural Gas Revolution and the author of numerous articles on the natural gas industry. Mr. Ineson has held analytical positions with Coral Energy, Texas Eastern, KN Energy, and Tenneco Energy and as Principal of the gas consulting practice at Resource Data International. Mr. Ineson holds a BA from the State University of New York at Albany and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Jackie Forrest Director, IHS CERA, Global Oil Jackie Forrest, IHS CERA Director, Global Oil, leads the research effort for the IHS CERA Oil Sands Energy Dialogue. Her expertise encompasses all aspects of petroleum evaluations, including refining, processing, upgrading, and products. She actively monitors emerging strategic trends related to oil sands including capital projects, economics, policy, environment, and markets. Before joining IHS CERA, Ms. Forrest was a consultant in the oil industry, focusing on technical and economic evaluations of refining and oil sands projects. Ms. Forrest is a professional engineer and holds a degree from the University of Calgary and an MBA from Queens University.
Peter Howard President and CEO, Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) Peter Howard joined the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) in November 2004 and currently holds the position of President and CEO. Mr. Howard has over 40 years of experience specializing in engineering and technical applications in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining CERI, Peter held several positions, including senior associate with J.R. Lacey International, president of Arundel Information Systems, partner with LOGIS Data Systems Ltd., and vice president with Computer Research Associates Ltd. Mr. Howard is a co-author of the Gas Energy Management Model, the LOGIS data retrieval system and has acted in a consulting role for numerous companies with regard to computer modeling, data mining and computer application development. Mr. Howard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta in Edmonton and is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta.
Todd Hirsch Senior Economist, ATB Financial Todd Hirsch holds a BA Honors in Economics from the University of Alberta, and an MA in Economics from the University of Calgary. He has worked for over 20 years as an economist at companies including Canadian Pacific Railway, the Canada West Foundation, and the Bank of Canada. He joined ATB Financial in May 2007 as Senior Economist where he provides economic information to ATB clients and external audiences. Todd s economic commentary appears on CBC radio, BNN, the Globe and Mail, and various other news programs. He teaches a course in economics at the University of Calgary, and is the Chair the Board of Directors of the Calgary Arts Academy. In 2011, Todd was recognized as one of Alberta s 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture magazine.
Kathryn Wood Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Alberta Energy Kathryn Wood studied mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta and began her career with the Alberta public service immediately after graduation. She has managed research projects and programs for the Alberta Oil Sands Technology and Research Authority (AOSTRA), the Alberta Office of Coal Research and Technology (AOCRT) and the Canada-Alberta Mineral Development Agreement. Kathryn joined the Electricity Division at Alberta Energy in 1999 while earning her MBA from the University of Alberta. She has exercised her leadership skills as head of the Retail Market team and is now Executive Director of the Electricity Markets Branch in the Electricity, Alternative Energy and Carbon Capture and Storage Division. Currently, Kathryn has been appointed as the Acting Assistant Deputy Minister for the Electricity, Alternative Energy and Carbon Capture and Storage Division. Kathryn is a registered professional engineer in the province of Alberta.
Hon. Jim Prentice Senior Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman, CIBC The Honourable Jim Prentice, Senior Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman joined CIBC in January 2011. In this role, he is responsible for expanding CIBC's relationships with corporate clients across Canada and abroad, and with providing leadership on strategic initiatives to enhance CIBC s position in the market. Mr. Prentice is well known for his contribution to public life in Canada. He was elected to the House of Commons as the Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre North in 2004 and re-elected in 2006 and 2008. From January 2006 until November 2010 he was one of the most senior Ministers in the Canadian Government, serving variously as the Minister of Industry, the Minister of the Environment and the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. Mr. Prentice is a member of the Board of Directors of Bell Canada (BCE Inc.) and is one of the Canadian members of the Trilateral Commission. He also serves as a Governor and Vice Chair of Canada s Sports Hall of Fame and as a Governor of The Duke of Edinburgh s Award - Charter for Business.
