Enjoy a Special Day of Painting In Historic Braddock Heights MD Paint-Out on Braddock Mountain On Saturday, September 27th, The Friends of The Yellow Barn Studio present The Third Annual Braddock Heights Paint-Out. Sunshine and Fresh Mountain Air Come enjoy a day of fresh mountain air with the area s premier artists community, as we Paint the Town Yellow! Last year s Braddock Heights Paint- Out drew nearly fifty talented artists, who enjoyed Braddock s historic homes and scenic vistas. Victorians, Views & Cows Whether you choose to paint one of the many turn-of-the-century Victorian Homes in this quaint former mountain resort colony, or focus your talents on one of the many twenty-mile vistas with the Appalachian mountains in the distance, (you can see 3 states from Braddock,) or set your palette down in a pasture overlooking cornfields or a herd of cattle, you re sure to have a memorable day with unique beautiful views. Braddock Heights, with it s beautiful homes and wrap-around porches, was a popular summer destination in the late 1800 s and early 1900 s, complete with a trolley line that brought summer visitors to enjoy the famed Braddock Heights Amusement Park. Registration and How it Works Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Braddock Heights Community Center. Bring a potluck dish -- fried chicken and drinks will be provided. Area maps will be provided to all artists. Each artist will pay $5.00, which will go towards the winner s prize. Break for lunch at 1:00 p.m., and then continue to paint until 4:30, when you will then head back to The Home Restaurant for the Competition Show and Sale! Competition, Show & Sale At day s end, you ll enjoy bringing your work back to The Home Restaurant at Braddock Inn, and setting up your easel for a competition and exhibit, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. If you like, you can make your painting available for sale at the Artist s Sale Table. Stay, have dinner and enjoy a 10% starving artist discount at the Home Restaurant. (Reservations suggested but not required.) You ll enjoy The Home s famed family-style cooking and the camaraderie of your fellow artists. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We need artist volunteers to help staff the Artist s Sale Table, and to help at various times throughout the day. Artist Information Registration: 8:30 9:30 a.m. Braddock Heights Community Center, 4830 Schley Ave., Braddock Heights, MD. Sign-in: artists pay $5.00, fill out form, and drop off pot-luck dish (refrigerator and stove will be available.) Membership required - Friends of the Yellow Barn or join at sign-in (applications will be available, $35.00 membership fee) Paint and Enjoy - Braddock Heights See 3 states from the mountain! A historic Victorian mountain resort, Braddock Heights features great old homes and extraordinary mountain vistas, along with nearby farms and fields in full Fall foliage. Boundaries Maps provided at sign in with geographic boundaries. Break for lunch at 1:00 p.m. Eat at the Community Center or take lunch back to your painting location. Fried chicken, utensils and soft drinks provided, along with pot-luck dishes each artist has brought. Community Center open until 4:00 p.m. for breaks, restroom access, etc. Center closes at 4:00 everything must be removed by then. After lunch, painting resumes until 4:00 p.m. Artists return at 4:00 4:30 p.m. to The HOME Restaurant at Braddock Inn 4839 Schley Avenue, 301-371-0411. Please park in lower lot! Exhibit, Show and Sale Each artist will set up their own easel with one painting by 5:00 p.m. at The HOME at Braddock Inn. Artists will prepare label using form provided, setting a price if they wish to offer their painting for sale, and will receive 100% of the sales price. Sales will be coordinated at the Artist s Table Judging at 7:00 p.m. Awards will be announced for First place and 3 Honorable Mentions! At Conclusion artists will pack up their own easel and any unsold paintings. Stay for Dinner! Enjoy HOME at Braddock Inn with special Starving Artists Discount 10% off! Supply list: Easel (must have), chair, drop cloth (must have--please protect Braddock Heights!) sun screen, hat, bug spray, plenty of water, and your own art supplies-- paints, paper, panels or canvas--any medium you choose.

Directions to Braddock Heights Community Center from DC: 270 N, to 70W in Frederick MD; Exit 49; left at light on exit ramp; Go to top of mountain, turn left at light onto Maryland Ave. Turn left at second stop onto Schley Ave; Take Schley to end, turn left, follow road ¼ mile to Community Center on the right, adjacent to swimming pool.
