Scrapper s Guide Digital Scrapper February 2010 Take me to the Premier members area
Get It Fixed Do you feel the love molecules in the air? Welcome to the February 2010 Digital Scrapper Premier! It s February, and I so enjoy the fact that I have a special day to appreciate my loved ones even more than usual. That s good! It s also the shortest month of the year. Not so good! It always feels like February zips by before I know it. So what can you and I do this month to show our appreciation for the people we love, every day of this short month? Here are some ideas: Say I love you out loud to someone every day. Leave a note of encouragement and love in an unexpected place. Hug someone you love at least once a day. (It s good therapy, too!) Make a chocolate cake. (OK. I threw that one in hoping someone in my family would see it.) Create a scrapbook page telling someone how much you adore them. Those ideas are just to get you started. I have a thread in the Premier Forum where you can share your own ideas and the things you actually do throughout the month. In fact, the Digital Scrapper Premier Forum is a great place to share a little love with your fellow Premier members. Here s to giving and receiving lots of love this month! I ve found that the lengthiest part of scrapbooking is getting my photos to look their best. Once I m done with that, everything else generally falls into place. Watch Lesson 1 for some of my favorite Healing Brush tips to make this process faster, because every little bit helps! Popular Technique Amanda Rockwell, our kit designer, is also a Photoshop instructor, so she created the two scrapbooking lessons on making beautiful overlays for your scrapbook pages. The tips she shares will extend the usefulness of any kit and will help you create your own papers. Not only that -- it s the rage right now in scrapbooking! Shapes & More Shapes Susie Roberts takes a basic component of scrapbooking (shapes) and teaches you some new tricks on how to use them effectively on your pages. She also gives detailed instructions on how to create a custom shadow. (Yes!) You know me -- I m a HUGE fan of custom shadows! Enjoy this month s issue, and don t forget to share some love in the Forum! Love and scrapbooking success, Linda Sattgast
Top Picks - January 2010 Waiting for the Sun by Stephanie Ogren What a wonderful collection of layouts were posted in the Premier Gallery last month! I love the way Stephanie s beautiful kit was used to scrap modern styled pages as well as heritage ones. My top pick for January is this eye-catching tribute created by connieg to celebrate her puppy s first year. What an adorable little dog! Connieg s circle of stitches really draws my eye to the sweet photo of her pup and she did a great job creating the shiny metal dog tags to embellish the picture. The cluster of elements at the bottom helps to anchor the photo and provides beautiful balance for this layout. Wonderful job, Connieg -- and thanks to those who created these other top layouts! Top Pick Page by connieg Connieg says: My sweet pup Secret has been with us for a year now. She is such a joy to have. Meet our February 2010 Premier Designer: Amanda Rockwell I am a mother of three and have been married to my husband for over ten years. We are a military family currently relocating across the country from dry desert land to the ocean! My family is everything to me. Of course I fell into the world of scrapbooking to archive our memories. When I found digital I had been making blinkies and signatures on women s boards and thought, I can so do that!. I made my first kit and I was hooked. I first started selling at digital freebies and made my way through many wonderful stores and am now forever parked at scrapartist.com. I have switched my focus from creating digital kits to mostly making commmercial use items for other designers, graphic artists and photographers. I also teach many designing secrets and tricks in the studio forums, which has made me realize I also love teaching. I have always loved art from the time I was a little girl and actually come from a family full of artists who are extremely talented, especially in the drawing category. So not only do I want to pass down wonderful scrapbooks to my kids, but I want to pass down a talent of drawing and a love for art.
