About these instructions 1 About these instructions These instructions for the DAC basic/classic control have been prepared with utmost care. They contain information and notes intended to ensure long-term and reliable operation. Should you notice any discrepancies or if you have improvement requests, then we would be glad to receive your feedback through Customer Service ( p. 55). Consider the instructions part of the product and store them in a place where they are readily available. 1.1 For whom are these instructions intended? These instructions are intended for: Operators: This group is familiar with the machine and has access to the instructions. Specifically, chapter Operation ( p. 25) is important for this group of employees. Specialists: This group of employees has the appropriate technical training allowing them to perform maintenance on the machine or to repair faults. Service Instructions are supplied separately. Each manufacturer has performed a hazard assessment for these purchased parts and confirmed their design compliance with applicable European and national regulations. The proper use of the built-in components is described in the corresponding manufacturer's instructions. 1.4 Liability All information and notes in these instructions have been compiled in accordance with the latest technology and the applicable standards and regulations. About these instructions Transport Dürkopp Adler cannot be held liable for breakage and transport damages. Inspect the delivery immediately upon receiving it. Report any damage to the last transport manager. This also applies if the packaging is not damaged. Leave control, equipment and packaging material in the condition in which they were found when the damage was discovered. This secures any claims against the transport company. Technical specifications 2 Technical specifications The DAC basic/classic is a control for industrial sewing machines assigned according to the functional scope of a class. Precisely harmonized parameters ensure optimum functionality and the greatest ease of use for every class. 2.1 Features Transfer of machine-specific parameters during start-up directly from the machine identification memory (machine ID) of the respective machine Support for the electronic handwheel Parameter structure divided by function Setting of application-specific values using the corresponding control panel Data transfer (parameter or software updates) by dongle Connection of a sewing lamp 2.2 Declaration of Conformity The DAC basic/classic complies with European regulations ensuring health, safety, and environmental protection as specified in the declaration of conformity or low voltage directive. Safety 3 Safety This chapter contains basic information for your safety. Read the instructions carefully before setting up or operating the control. Make sure to follow the information included in the safety instructions. Failure to do so can result in serious injury and property damage. 3.1 Basic safety instructions The DAC basic/classic control may only be used as described in these instructions. The instructions should be available at the control's location at all times. Work on live components is prohibited. The control was built and tested in compliance with all valid ordinance and safety regulations, and left the factory in proper working order. The control will only work safely and reliably when the control is used as intended ( 4.4 Proper use, p. 22). Before leaving the workplace: Switch off the control Wait until the machine stops Wait until the LEDs go out Obligations of the operator Follow the country-specific safety and accident prevention regulations and the legal regulations concerning industrial safety and the protection of the environment. All warnings and safety signs on the control must always be in legible condition and may not be removed. Missing or damaged labels must be replaced immediately. Safety Requirements to be met by the personnel The control may only be set up by specialists. Specialists are persons with electronics and mechanical training. The following work may only be performed by specialists. Maintenance work Repairs Work on electrical equipment Only authorized persons may work on the machine. Anyone working on the machine belongs to the operators. Operators must have read and understand the manual before working on the system. Setup Operation Control setup and start-up must be performed carefully by qualified technicians to ensure no health risks for operating personnel. The connecting cable must have a power plug approved in the relevant country. The power plug may only be connected to the power cable by qualified specialists. Check the control while in operation for any externally visible damage. Stop working if you notice any changes. Report any changes to your supervisor. A damaged control should no longer be used. Conversions or changes to the control are prohibited. 3.2 Signal words and symbols used in warnings Warnings in the text are distinguished by color bars. Components and functions 4.2 Control panel The control panel OP1000 is located at the top of the machine and is connected to the control. The setpoint device specifies the speed and starts the thread cutter or the sewing foot lift. The setpoint device is attached under the stand with a mounting bracket. The setpoint device includes: a push/pull rod (1) that is connected to the machine pedal through the set of rods a spring pre-load (2), enabling 3 settings for the push/pull rod (none, 1/8, or 1/4 rotation) Instructions for use DAC basic/classic - 03.0-01/2016 21

For additional information refer to 2.2 Declaration of Conformity, p. 7. The control is intended for industrial use. The control may only operate in rooms that are clean and dry. Do not operate the control when aerosols (sprays) or oxygen are in use. Proper use includes compliance with the operating, maintenance, and repair conditions as specified by the manufacturer. Operation 5 Operation The DAC basic/classic control is operated exclusively using the OP1000 control panel. You set the foundation for the sewing process with the settings on the control. 5.1 Basic operation In this chapter you will learn the basics for working with the control. These basics are: Switching on and off the control Using button groups 5.1.1 Switching on and off the control Important Before operating the control, make sure to follow all information in chapter Safety ( p. 9). WARNING Risk of injury from sharp parts! Risk of minor injuries from puncture when switching on the machine unintentionally. When there are longer standstill periods, disconnect the power cable before leaving the workplace. The control is located below the tabletop of the frame. The POWER LED (2) and the POWER LED on the control panel illuminate green. As soon as Ready appears on the display you can begin sewing; press the foot pedal forward to pedal position +1. Switching off the control When you are finished your work switch off the control: 1. Press the main switch (1) up to position 0. PowerOff appears on the display. Operation 5.1.2 Using button groups Use the button groups to select machine functions, such as start bartack. The following options are available: Button groups and use Button group Thread Programming Seam program Use For sewing only: Activate machine functions Set simple machine functions For the entire sewing process: Set advanced machine functions Process complex seams To select a machine function: 1. press the corresponding button on the control panel. You will recognize which machine function has been activated by the LED in the respective button. When the LED illuminates you can sew.
