October 2014 Page 1 Hello Bennett Broncos! 1125 Bennett Road Fort Collins, CO 80521 Principal Amy Smythe asmythe@psdschools.org Phone (970) 488-4750 I enjoyed reading all of the persuasive essays your children turned in regarding Halloween Costumes. I am sure you are already aware that I was overwhelmed with arguments for dressing up for Halloween. Tomorrow, students are permitted to come to school in costume.. Please make sure they do not wear any masks, face coverings or anything that alludes to blood, gore, or violence. We ask that costumes are worn to school and are worn all day so please make sure they wear something they can be comfortable in. Individual classrooms may choose to do different activities for a small amount of time; otherwise it will be a regular school day. October 2014 Page 7 Learn About Strategy Bennett Chess Club Do you love chess? Have you always wanted to learn how to play? We are exploring the idea of bringing a chess club to Bennett. If enough people express interest, we will move ahead in trying to arrange this. We have talked with Chess Mates (www.chessmatesfc.com) to have them run the club for us at Bennett. Some preliminary details would be as follows: Instructor provided by Chess Mates Meet right after school at 3:30 in a Bennett classroom All materials provided including chess board and pieces K-5 grade students all skill levels welcome 12 week program starting in January (approx. cost will be $60/student for the 12 week session) Max 25 students Please contact Morgan Love (sheedylove@yahoo.com) if you are interested in Chess Club. And, feel free to voice other ideas for a Chess Club. If you are a chess expert, for example, and would like to run the club as a volunteer, let us know! Thanks.
