Next Board Mtg.: March 26th, 2012, 5:30PM. The center will allow us to order and eat in the meeting room. There was no Board Meeting for February 2012. WOW Quilt Guild Meeting February 27, 2012 The meeting was called to order by the President, Patti Marrin. The vice president, Lori Allison discussed the March workshop with Norma Riehm. She needed 18 ladies to sign up for the workshop for it to be a go. The guest speaker Karen McTavish was introduced. Karen grew up in Arden Hills, MN and became involved in quilting through her mother. She has published 6 books. She is a long arm quilter with a traditional style. She showed several samples of her trapunto quilts. Karen shared with us her three rules for quilting; 1) Do the hardest thing, 2) Never take short cuts and 3) Do what a hand quilter would do. But above all, quilting is for the people we love. Karen kept everyone laughing with her stories of adventures and mishaps. Birthday Club brought in $48.50 toward the monthly room rental. Membership counted 4 new members and 12 guests this month. The meeting was adjourned with Show & Share. Respectfully submitted, Angela Coleman CO-Secretary WOW 2012 Challenge The Road I Traveled November 2012 Program Create a poster-sized quilt somewhere between 16 x 20 and 24 x 36 or any shape that is approximately 320-864 square inches (multiply length times width). The road begins anywhere on the left side and finishes anywhere on the right side and measures approximately 3 on the left and the right, but can be any size, shape, or length inside the quilt. The quilt represents something about your life; it has a story to tell about your life s journey. The quilts will be hung first without names for voting by the members. Then each member will talk about their own quilt. Based on Viewer s Choice Secret Ballot, three $50 prizes will be awarded to best 1) artistry, 2) creativity & 3) workmanship.
