IMPORTANT Important Notes Installation is to be performed only in unbroken asphalt or concrete. Performance is not rated for broken asphalt, broken concrete or asphalt patch. Unbroken asphalt or concrete area must comply to minimum layout dimensions of 7 from asphalt or concrete interface Layout o Hole locations must be a minimum of 7 from any asphalt-concrete edge or interface. Install o It is important to allow epoxy to fully cure before Securing the Core Steel System (Step 6) o If anchors rotate in asphalt during tightening, the epoxy has fully cured and anchor rod must be re-installed with epoxy o The use of a torque wrench might be needed to ensure a maximum of 40 foot/pounds torque is applied to the nylon lock nuts 2

1 2 Notes Installation to be performed in unbroken concrete or asphalt. Installation time will be related to epoxy cure time. Refer to epoxy label for manufacturers cure time. A special epoxy is available for extreme cold conditions with shorter cure time in the cold. The Plastic Sign Base and Top ships in its minimum height. Layout Placement and Mark Hole Locations. Layout and hole final location using Rubber Disk as a guide. Note: Hole locations should be a minimum distance of 7 from any concrete or asphalt edge or interface. The system should allow for a minimum of 24 between solid objects at the top of the BumperSign for safe tilting in larger impacts. Mark center of each slotted hole of the rubber disk onto the asphalt or concrete. 3 Drill holes. Center the 1 diameter carbide drill bit over ground mark and drill holes to a depth of 6-1/4 using an SDS MAX Hammer drill. The top of the anchor must be exposed 3-½ above the asphalt or concrete. Note: After drilling first hole, confirm 11 ½ center-tocenter prior to drilling second hole. Confirm both holes are drilled to 6 ¼ depth with 3 ½ anchor rod exposed. Clean holes with 1 diameter wire brush and vacuum. Remove any dust and debris from and around holes. 4 Secure Anchor Rods to Ground with Epoxy. One epoxy cartridge will be used per sign (two holes). Ensure proper mixing color (uniform gray) before dispensing into holes. Working one hole at a time dispense epoxy, starting from the bottom of hole to prevent air pockets. Withdraw nozzle as hole fills up. Immediately after dispensing epoxy into hole, insert one ¾ -10 x 9.75 Anchor rod, turning clockwise, until bottoming out in fixing hole. Epoxy cures in 60 minutes at 60 o F. Refer to epoxy label for manufacturers cure times. Note: Anchor threads and asphalt or concrete surface must be cleaned of epoxy as much as possible. Help remove wet epoxy from threads by sliding the ⅛ thick washer over the anchor and pressing down. Excess epoxy on the ground can more easily be removed with a putty knife once fully cured. Important: Avoid moving anchors once fully inserted and vertical in epoxy until fully cured. Avoid slip, trip and falls by locating traffic safety cones over the exposed threaded rods until fully cured. 3

5 Level Post. Stack the following core kit components in place over fully cured threaded rods: Rubber Disk, Square Rubber, Steel Post, Square with Hole Rubber. See exploded view below for arrangement details. Check if post is vertical. Use provided shims to adjust post to sit vertically. Important: Post must be vertical in ALL directions both laterally and in direction of tilt (Front-Back) Shims should be used between the rubber disk and the asphalt or concrete for leveling, inserted from the front or the back, seated underneath the Square Rubber Note: Exposed shim segments must be trimmed before step 7. Exploded View 6 Secure Core Steel system with Nylon Lock Nuts. Confirm post-holes face the front of the system. Place steel cup base over system components and anchor rods. Adjust so post is centered with base plate. Slide ⅛ washer, 1 ¼ tall Rubber, ⅜ washer and ¾ -10 nylon lock nuts over each anchor rod. Hand tighten nylon lock nuts. Using an impact driver or torque wrench with a 1 ⅟ 16 deep socket, tighten nuts until stack sits flush on both sides. Note: It is important that nylon lock nuts on both sides are tightened evenly. Continue to tighten anchors evenly until damper squeezes a max of 1/8 and the entire system and feels strong and solid. The use of a torque wrench might be needed to ensure a maximum of 40 foot/pounds torque is applied to the nylon lock nuts. If plastic shims were used to level post, please trim with knife here. Important: Do not over tighten bolts. Important: if the threaded rod spins during installation, it means epoxy is not completely cured and you must remove and re-epoxy. 4

7 Slide Plastic Base over Steel Core System. Place plastic shell over core system until the opening at the foot of the plastic shell sits flush with asphalt or concrete and hides all hardware. Plastic shell base and core system post both have through-holes at 45.5 above the asphalt or concrete surface. Align these holes and secure using (1) 3 ¼ bolt assembly - (1) 3/8-16 x 3-1/4 Long Button Head Bolt, (2) 3/8 ID x 7/8 flat washers and (1) 3/8-16 nylon Nut, using a wrench with a 9/16 socket and 7/32 Hex Allen Key. The bolt should be fully secured when one or two threads are exposed past the nylon lock nut. Important: Make sure plastic base is sitting straight and flat on the concrete or asphalt surface. Small plastic shims should be cut prior to sliding plastic base onto steel core. 8 Adjust Height if needed Please review your state laws regarding sign height placement. Plastic shell can be adjusted to maximum height of 109.85 to the top edge. At this height, the bottom edge of the additional sign area sits 84 from the ground. If height adjustment is needed, three bolts will be needed on the system. A bolt must be present at a height of 45.50 from the ground. Use 3 ½ bolt assembly to fasten through telescoping channel on the plastic shell top. If bolting through only the base, use 3 ¼ bolt assembly. Note: Only two bolts are needed on the minimum height option. 5

9 Attach Sign to Plastic Top Locate 12 x 18 sign and square with front of plastic top. Make sure to use metal sign as template to trace holes. You may remove Plastic top from bottom base to ease install. Drill two (0.257 -.261 ) or (0.191 ) diameter hole size centered in traced holes. Insert two rivets into holes. Using a rivet gun, secure with supplied rivets to hold 12 x 18 sign flush with mounting surface. Repeat to other sided if a back to back sign is needed. Optional 12 x 6 Sign Additional 12 x 6 sign could be installed below the 12 x 18 Sign. Align vertical edges with top sign. Mark and drill two 0.191 holes. Using rivet gun, secure with Blind aluminum rivets. Note: This can be done with Plastic Top installed on base as well. 10 Your Install is complete Make sure all hardware is tightly and present. Your BumperSign should feel solid in asphalt or concrete. 6
