But hopefully you ll be able to carve out some time to take a class or two. We have LOTS to choose from, and some very special events! We have five months in this newsletter so grab a cup of coffee and something to write with then sit back and read up on everything you can do this summer while it s too hot to be outside!! And if you re traveling stop by the shop because we are worth the drive from anywhere! O Tannenbaum is Cindi s newest Christmas pattern. It is an interesting combination of 7 different blocks: square in a square, four patch, flying geese, half square triangles and more! This quilt is offered as both a class and an 8 month mailed BOM. The kits are only $16/ month and include all pre-cut fabric and full sized patterns to complete this 70 x 78 Christmas quilt by November! Call the shop to join in or sign up online at www.fabricpatch.net. Our summer weekends are pretty packed with lots of ongoing classes and events, but we have five Quilt in a Day classes scheduled for you during the week! Take advantage of these special classes and leave with a fully finished quilt top. Class includes all instruction, the pattern, and even lunch! All for only. Bring your sewing machine (or borrow one of ours) and your basic sewing notions. Kits will be available, or you can bring your own fabrics. Classes include the popular Log Cabin, the pretty Tridazzle, the interesting On the Fly, and our highly requested Crumb Cake. Samples of all of these quilts are in the shop for you to see. We have also added a Quilt as you go class for those of you that want to skip a few steps and be all the way done!! Class size limited. Sign up early! See calendar for dates and times. We are excited to have Fay Iseminger come to the shop to teach her Fall hand embroidered, water colored wallhanging!! She has an incredible talent and we have been honored to sell her patterns and feature her designs as blocks of the month in the past if you have been a fan, sign up for her class and come to meet the master!! Fay has several best selling patterns, most of which are featured in our shop (come in to see samples). She is a devout Seventh Day Adventist, so for the first time in 16 years we are offering a class on Sunday. It will be at 1pm until about 3:30. Class fee is $50 and pays for all kit supplies (muslin, diaper flannel, pattern, all thread, and even Fay s secret needles) and of course, Fay s informative, interactive class. Class is offered twice. Choose May 3rd or August 2nd. Space limited! Long Arm Custom Quilting The Fabric Patch has three long arm quilters on staff available to finish your quilt tops. We have a turnaround of only two weeks and are very affordable, starting at only.015/square inch. Stop in for a design quote, or mail your top. We ll call before we start to ensure you get exactly what you like, quickly, at an affordable price. We have a wide selection of 114 backings in stock ranging in price from $8.99 to $14.99/yd, and we always have several battings in stock. Get your graduation quilt tops in by May 22nd to ensure completion!!
Page 2 B LO C K O F T H E M O N T H O P E N S E W We have 15 new series starting in April and May!!! We wanted to have something for everyone Christmas, hand appliqué, fusible appliqué, wool, hand embroidery and more!! We have samples of all of the projects in the shop and there s still time to sign up. Some of the new series are classes and they are assigned a specific time each month (second Saturday at 10am, first Wednesday at 6pm, etc.). Those classes include PCA, Textures, Flower Garden, Pin Cushion Club,, Prairie Women s, O Tannenbaum and the Lazy Angle Ruler and they are described in detail elsewhere in the newsletter. A block of the month quilt can be completed at home. Quilters will come in to pick up their monthly packet, or have it mailed, and they have all month to complete the assignment before it s time for a new project to arrive in the mail. It s a nice way to work on a large quilt without getting overwhelmed. The fabric is always included, sometimes even pre-cut for ease of construction. You will see all of our BOM quilts available on the website and we generally have a significant number of people from around the U.S. that order our BOM kits. We send all of the blocks out on the 5th of each month. However, those of you in our area have the opportunity to come into the shop to work on your BOM quilts. You can receive instruction, assistance and LUNCH! We are designating the forth Saturday of the month BOM Open House. The classroom is big enough and we will have LOTS of fun with everyone in the classroom together. It will give you a chance to have more time to complete your block (if you need it) and see what everyone else is working on. It is also a good way to take a class with your friend, even if the two of you are not doing the same thing!! Our newest BOM s: 1. Zoo it Along. This wildly gorgeous quilt features some of our favorite stops at the zoo! Each detailed applique block features a picturesque look at these elegant creatures. The finished quilt measures 57 x 63 (but you can easily add additional borders if you want it full size. This 7 month program is only $34/month for all of the individual full sized patterns and all of the fabrics to complete the quilt top including borders and binding! 2. Daisy Chain Cottage. Lynette Anderson has designed a gorgeous quilt to compliment her beautiful fabric line! Made from soft purples and stone blues, this gentle garden themed quilt features three months of piecing and three months of appliqué. Each month is only $28 and includes all fabrics for the tops, borders and binding, and all full sized color patterns. 3. Blessings of Winter. A beautiful BOM designed by Shabby Fabrics, this quilt has everything we love: batiks, embossed fabrics, precut snowflakes, buttons and interest! This BOM is /month for 8 months. This quilt will be done by Dec 1st!! 4. A Year in Stitches is a unique monthly desk calendar featuring fused wool on a cotton background opposite a write on/wipe off calendar. The primitive designs are warm, seasonal and simple. Complete kits are only $19/month. 5. Blockwatchers is our monthly round robin. We start with our own center and a bag of fabric. We swap, add a border for the swapped quilt we took home, then continue to swap once a month until the quilt is complete. We each receive back a quilt that is all done by friends!!
PCA (PRECUT ASSOCIATION) A new series will begin April 20th. Last winter we made four quilts, a table runner set and a tote bag. You can pay $15/class or $60 for the complete series of 6 months. We meet at both 1pm or 6 pm for only two hours. You bring your sewing machine and basic notions. Using the precut packet determined on the calendar, we will be making a quick project each month. Each pattern is different and features a new technique. Join us monthly or guarantee your spot each month by signing up for the series. Kids Quilt Camp We have quite a few young quilters that have been frequenting the shop, most with capable tutors. We thought we would host a fun class designed for these young beginners, and give those other teachers a day off. Page 3 We will spend the first two day camp piecing, pressing and completing a bordered quilt top. The next two day camp will focus on finishing. We ll layer, pin, stitch in the ditch and bind the quilt top! The two day camp will be 10-3 each day. A sack lunch, gift bag and project tote will be provided. PINTEREST-ING FLOWER GARDEN! Who doesn t love a gorgeous flower?!?! Join us for this fun class and learn to make your own. For purse embellishments, pillows, hair bands, wedding décor and more!! The series is 4 months in length, occurring once a month starting on May Day! Class will occur on the first Friday of the month and last from 1pm to 3pm. The series is only $45 and includes all patterns, fabrics, threads, glue, etc. to complete and take home six new flowers each month!! (That s less than $2 per flower!!) You need no prior hand stitching or 3-D experience. You will make a full garden of beautiful assorted flowers. Lazy Angle Ruler Our next ruler adventure features one of my favorites. This ruler is amazing, you make two different units and with those units you can make over 250 block and border combinations!! We will be meeting once a month for 6 months on the first Saturday of the month. Classes begin May 2nd! You will bring your sewing machine and fabric to class, where we will make two blocks and one border option. Prizes for anyone who makes additional blocks. Page 6 TEXTURES!! Brianna is teaching a textures class!! Gorgeous, fun, elegant, unique, informative perfect for a duvet or a special bride! She will be teaching four techniques each month for four months. All patterns will be provided. Bring your sewing machines and basic sewing notions. You will leave with four finished blocks and an exciting new skill base. These textures are perfect for designer pillows, children's dresses, interesting quilt borders, and more! She will be showing you interesting projects you can make using the programs/designs you have. She ll have hooping and interfacing tips, featured threads, gifts, door prizes and patterns. Each class is only $18, or, prepay for the entire series for a special price of $65 for six months. (15% off for Pfaff owners) CINDI S BED RUNNER OF THE MONTH Perfect for beginners. Cindi loves a pretty quilt (of course) but she has a king sized bed and doesn t have the time to decorate for each season or holiday. The answer bed runners!! A bed runner is simply a long table runner with a matching pillow. It takes very little time and fabric to complete, and you end up with a seasonal bed!! *$60 if prepay for entire six month series. Embroidered wallet, handbag and glasses case. Class is once a month on a Saturday morning and will only last 90 minutes. You bring your machines and basic sewing notions. Precut kits will be available for a small fee, or you will receive the fabric requirements via email a week before class. It is always so much fun to get together with other quilters, but space is limited to 10 per class. So sign up early! Class is $18/month*. Patterns are included in cost of class.

Remember all of those women on the titanic who waved off the dessert cart! Erma Bombeck Progressive Sampler This class is for those beginning quilters that have taken the basics and now they want to know how to make multiple blocks with different techniques. The cost is only $36 for 12 classes (that s $3/class for one on one instruction!). The way it works is you sign up for the class, and purchase your five one yard cuts of complimentary fabrics (you can add fabric as you go along if you want to) and two yards of background. When you pay for your class you will get a punch card with the 12 classes on it. As soon as you have your card and your fabric, you are ready for your first lesson! You simply come in and present your card to any of the employees at The Fabric Patch and we will grab our lesson bag for your first class. Your class will include one on one instruction and a printed pattern. Once you understand the block construction, you will go home and sew it together at your own pace. As soon as you re ready for your next lesson, come in (no need to phone ahead) and bring your finished block and fabric with you. We will review your first block, discuss your technique, then move on to block #2. This will continue until your sampler is completed. Each lesson will cover a different technique, and build on your new found knowledge. As the blocks get progressively more complicated you will want to take advantage of your skills and the special coupons and gifts you will receive along the way. The quilt can be completed in 2 weeks, or 2 years. No pressure, no stress, no scheduling conflicts. If you are enrolled in the Progressive Sampler, you are welcome to join us on the last Saturday of the month for BOM Open Sew.
