This veneration of popular icons has become a huge part of contemporary art, with some of our greatest and most exciting artists creating homages to their own favourite legends of our time. Clarendon Fine Art is proud to have drawn together this new exhibition of mesmerising iconic portraiture from a remarkable group of contemporary artists.
alan Combining technical skill, creativity and wit, visionary artist and innovator Craig Alan portrays iconic ideas through dozens, sometimes hundreds of intricately painted, exquisite figures. Each complex and beautiful statement piece is minutely planned and each figure has their own identity and personality which he has thought through in the finest of detail. His cast of characters includes family members, friends and models, giving his work a uniquely personal touch. In their own way, they reflect Craig s highly recognisable take on life, where it is the small details that work together to create the big picture.

altus Maciej Pajor acquired his sobriquet of Altus a Latin word meaning noble or profound - as a result of his profound insight into the human spirit. His ability to capture both the frailties and beauty of human nature come across powerfully in his hyper realistic iconic pieces which have gained him an impressive international reputation. Although Altus has superb artistic talent, it is perhaps his extraordinary gift for imaginative interpretation that has brought him to prominence. Influenced by the old masters in his fine attention to detail, he is inspired by the individual features of a face, particularly the emotion or intelligence shown through the eyes.

normansell Described by GQ Magazine as one of the most innovative young artists in the world, Paul Normansell has received global acclaim from critics and collectors in the fashion and music industries. His iconic portrait work has been hailed as some of the most style-conscious imagery to define the shifting trends of popular culture with its impression of ultimate desirability and unattainable perfection. His aim was to achieve statement pieces with an almost synthetic, polished feel, placing each face in the artistic equivalent of a media spotlight. To do this he moved away from the natural organic look of acrylic and canvas to high gloss enamel paint on sheet aluminium. This created a flawless reflective quality as if they were literally in a glossy magazine. High profile fashion assignments have included a range of portraits of supermodels Kate Moss and Agyness Deyn.
