SALE UNITS GLOVE RANGE ORDERING INFORMATION A long story The story began 60 years ago in Manchuria. However prior to that and whilst in the army, Akeo Tanaka suffered, like many of his countrymen, from the extremely harsh conditions. The difficult memory of soldiers losing fingers from frostbite despite wearing rabbit skin gloves and cotton under-gloves provoked a reaction in him that a few years later would revolutionise hand protection. After the war, he manufactured PVC ink cartridges for fountain pens and he had the ingenious idea of developing a glove prototype using this material of the future. This was in 1953 and Akeo Tanaka had in fact just invented the PVC glove. A year later he established the Showa Kako company which is today one of the leading protective glove manufacturers in the world. Key dates 1953 PVC work glove invented. 1980 Patent for the first seamless knitted glove. 1985 PU (polyurethane / nylon) line launched. 1990 Flat Dip process with high-grip latex and flat coating invented. 1992 World first with N-DEX - 100% nitrile gloves, latex-free. 2006 Double nitrile coating developed (dual technology). 2010 Hagane Coil with S-TEX technology launched (stainless steel / polyester reinforced knit). 2012 Waterproof and breathable polyurethane glove launched: 281 TEMRES. 2013 World s first biodegradable nitrile glove launched: GREEN-DEX TM 2
