Step 2 Adjustment of aperture and installation of trimmers for roof construction If trimmers are necessary to carry the roof construction, they must be positioned in such a way that they do not obstruct the installation of trimmers for the dormer construction (see steps 3 and 8). Adjust the aperture at the sides in order to obtain an interior measurement of Wi mm (see table step 1). 4/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 3 Installation of infill battens and bottom trimmer for the dormer construction Install infill battens as shown. Draw a mark (a) on the bottom infill batten 60 mm from the back edge of the batten below the aperture in the roof surface. Position the bottom trimmer for the dormer construction by measuring from mark (a) - see cross-section. (This mark will also be used for positioning of the side framing, see step 4). The dimensions of the bottom trimmer must be approx 50 x 250 mm. 5/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 4 Preparation and installation of side framing Provide framing according to cross-section shown above. Dimensions must be approx 50 x 100 mm. Cut framing as shown before erecting. The internal face of the framing must be flush with the internal face of the aperture Wi (see step 2). 6/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 5 Preparation and installation of side panel Prepare two identical triangular panels from waterproof plywood. Install one of the panels on the outside of the side framing. Overall thickness of framing plus plywood must not exceed 60 mm. 7/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 6 Preparation and installation of right hand side framing and panel Prepare right hand framing and install second plywood panel. Position and adjust framing by means of the diagonal measures x and z. Step 8 Positioning and installation of top trimmer and installation battens Note! Install the top trimmer so that it is at right angles to the side frame. The upper edge of the trimmer must be flush with the top of the side frame and the height of the trimmer must be min 175 mm. Note the measurements A, B and Z as they are to be used for adjusting the adjustable support rafter EBY (step 10). Position two installation battens between the side frames. Position the front batten so that the distance from the front edge of the batten to mark 1 is 1426 mm as shown in the cross-section above. 9/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 9 Marking for positioning of adjustable support rafter EBY Mark the bottom and top trimmer for positioning of adjustable support rafter EBY. Double unit solutions: Measure the centre (a) of the bottom trimmer and find the centre (b) of the top trimmer by means of the diagonal measure x. Triple unit solutions: Start by finding the centre (a) and (b) as described above. Then mark for positioning of adjustable support rafter EBY 399 mm to each side of the centre on the bottom and the top trimmer. mm 10/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 10 Adjustment of adjustable support rafter EBY Transfer the roof pitch Xº (by means of template) and measurements A mm, B mm and Z mm from step 8 to EBY. Cut EBY. NOTE! The measurement C mm must be maximum 40 mm when cutting out the EBY. Notch the batten also if C mm is greater than 40 mm. Step 11 Fitting of installation brackets for adjustable support rafter EBY Fit the installation bracket supplied with the EBY on the top trimmer. The measurement h must be approx 136 mm but has to be adjusted so that the web of the adjustable support rafter is flush with the upper face of the installation batten. 11/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 12 Installation of adjustable support rafter EBY Fix temporary batten between the two side framings with the back edge at mark 2 on the upper framing members (see section 1-1 below and step 7). Position the EBY in the installation bracket on the top trimmer and at the mark on the bottom trimmer. Position the EBY so that the installation batten rests in the intersection between the webs (section 2-2). Fix the EBY to the bottom trimmer with screws. Extend the EBY to the top level of joists and fix to batten. The batten should be securely fixed to the joists on either side of the EBY. In each single case, this detail must be supported by static calculations. Remove the temporary batten once the EBY has been fixed. 12/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 13 Preparation of roof windows Fit seals supplied into the two window rebates to be positioned onto the EBY adjustable support rafter. Fit corner and centre fixing brackets supplied with the roof windows on the side frames opposite the EBY (a, b). Fit the brackets supplied with the flashing on the side frames facing the EBY (c, d). 13/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 14 Installation of the first roof window Position temporary batten with the back edge at mark 1 (see section 1-1 below and step 7). The roof window may rest on this batten during installation. If necessary, adjust the level of the roof window by placing wedges under the corner brackets. Fix the roof window to the EBY with screws through the plastic plates. On the side opposite the EBY, fix the roof window with screws in the brackets fitted. 14/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 15 Installation of the second roof window Fix the roof window to the dormer construction with screws in the fixing brackets in the shown order (a, b, c). Remove the temporary batten (d) and fit the bracket supplied between the windows (e). Roof window adjustment: See instructions enclosed with the roof window. Step 16 Preparation of vertical window elements VF- Remove the sash of vertical window elements VF- as shown in the installation instructions for vertical window elements VFE/VFA/VFB. 15/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 17 Installation of vertical window elements Position frames of VF- elements up against roof windows using wedges (a). Drill Ø 3 mm holes through top frame of vertical window elements and into the bottom frame of the roof windows. Then screw frames together with the screws supplied (b). Fix the frames of the VF- elements to the adjustable support rafter EBY with screws. 16/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 18 Insulation of joints and cavities Insulate joints and cavities under covers. Step 19 Connection to roof underfelt Fit the underfelt collars (7039) and transverse drainage gutter (7303) supplied around the dormer construction and integrate with the underfelt in the roof construction. 17/26 W-PRM MAS/I-SUP/ KNS
Step 20 Fitting of bottom flashing section (7021) Before fitting the bottom flashing section (7021), fix a 20 x 20 mm triangular list below the vertical window elements. Fit the bottom flashing section (7021) to the plywood side panel with aluminium screws. Step 23 Marking and adjustment of the top side flashing (7061) Mark and cut the top side flashing (7061) so that it fits around the top corner of the plywood side panel. NOTE! Observe the approx 10 mm high upstand. Position the top side flashing (7061) allowing it to rest on the nearest batten above the dormer construction. Step 29 Fitting of dormer side covers (7061/7081) Cut the dormer side covers (7061/7081) using a template and slide it into the securing strips. Fix the dormer side covers along the top edge with stainless steel screws. Step 30 Fitting of middle section (7316), covers and corner end caps (7073/7093) Fit middle section (7316) (a). Step 31 Fitting of side covers (7071/7091) on roof windows Trim side covers at the top. At the bottom it may be necessary to adjust the folded edge to allow the side cover to be pressed into position. Step 33 Fitting of top flashing section (7001) Cut top cover edges (a). Fit top flashing section (7) (b). Fold the top flashing section (7001) and trim the edge so that it fits around the upturned edge of the top side flashing (7061) (see step 23). Step 34 Fitting of top flashing section extension piece (7013) in securing strip (7014) Fit securing strip (7014) to the top flashing section app. 70 mm from the bottom edge of the top flashing section (1).
