Best Practices

Low and High Point Find low and high point in the room. Draw level lines.

Prepare Your Work Area Protect your flooring if applicable: painters tarp, cardboard, etc.

Find your studs and mark them using appropriate methods. Studs

Arrange and Sort Cabinets Review your layout, smartsheet, shop drawings, etc. Unpack all material and account for all cabinets, checking for damage at this time. Cabinets should be right side up. Set your cabinets out according to the layout starting with wall cabinets. For an L or U shape kitchen, begin in the corner. Lay out cabinets properly to make sure they fit and you will have enough space to insert appliances.

Arrange and Sort Cabinets Remove the doors, drawers and shelves carefully placing them aside to not get damaged. If removing lift stay see additional adjustment information. If all material and hardware is there, proceed to next step. If there are any issues with the layout or product, STOP what you are doing and contact your manufacturer representative immediately.

Wall Setting and Leveling: Wall & Base Pre-drill and mount 1 screw on the top of the cabinet into the wall for initial setting. Continue this for each cabinet. Set next cabinet, slide together, clamp and screw. Some shims may be needed behind the cabinets to fill any gaps created by uneven walls. Never try to pull the cabinet to the wall to fill the gap. Once all wall cabinets are in place, install remaining screws, top and bottom. Now proceed with base cabinets using the same process. Remember with bottom screws to pre-drill as well.

Setting and Leveling: Wall & Base Base Base cabinets are set according to layout and not by drain center on wall. Base cabinets are intended to align with above wall cabinets. Some shims may be needed to level the cabinets.

Cabinet Connections Two or more cabinets on any single wall, installed side by side which are all screwed together through the sides. Hardware for Cabinet Connections Incorrect screw Correct screw Be sure to use the correct hardware.

Be aware of any/all mechanical locations that need to be brought through wall backs including plumbing and electrical. Use appropriate hole saw to cut out for plumbing: water supply and drain. We recommend using hole saws in accordance with the diameter of the pipe. Minimizing the hole size is imperative. Suggest removing the valve knobs which will allow for a much smaller and more precise hole. Mechanical Cut Outs

Mechanical Cut Outs

Use table saw to trim the fillers to the proper width. Install Fillers Pre-drill cabinet side in preparation to attach filler.

Shelves, Drawers & Doors Place shelves, drawers and doors back on cabinet. Check for gaps in doors & realign!

Door & Drawer Hardware Install Door & Drawer Hardware Confirm location on the door or drawer front. When mounting hardware, use a drilling template for a consistent location. Be sure to drill with door open as to NOT go through framework of cabinet.

Door & Drawer Hardware Prepare back of door or drawer to prevent blowout. Ensure all cabinet door and drawer bumpers are attached. This can create a misalignment as well as a slamming sound if not present. Use hand screwdrivers to prevent screw stripping on the handles.

Hinge Adjustment Guide

Lift Stay Adjustment - Incorrect Incorrect spacing between door and ceiling.

Lift Stay Adjustment - Correct Correct spacing between door and ceiling. Correct Lift-Stay adjustment should be at 90 0 so the door does not hit the ceiling.

Drawer Glides

Trim off exposed shims on base and/or wall cabinets. Remove all stickers, if present, from the interior or exterior of cabinets. Stickers should be easy peel. DO NOT use a metallic scraper to remove any stickers that may be present. Clean-up space before leaving. Wipe off shelves. Vacuum out cabinets. Discard all packaging. One final walkthrough: all doors and drawers should open and close properly and be aligned properly. Clean-up!
