WMZ Werkzeugmaschinenbau Ziegenhain GmbH WMZ COMPLETE SHAFT MACHINING. Machine tools for the flexible machining of shaft-shaped components are designed and produced within the DVS TECHNOLOGY GROUP by WMZ in Schwalmstadt-Ziegenhain/Germany. Passenger car and commercial vehicle components up to 4,500 mm long can be machined completely in a single chucking thanks to the modular system. Alongside turning, milling and drilling processes, it is also possible to cut gearing in shaft-shaped workpieces. The center drive technology further developed by WMZ makes the highly efficient machining of suitable components possible. Alongside machine tools, WMZ develops and mass-produces high-quality motor spindles, which are used in almost all machines within the DVS TECHNOLOGY GROUP. Accordingly, the areas of application for the high-precision drive components, which are manufactured at WMZ with a wealth of experience and high quality promise, are extremely varied and challenging. Machining with center drive WMZ motor spindles Machine concepts from WMZ are based on a modular system which permits the customized combination of material removal technologies in one machine. Thus shaft-shaped components can be machined in a single chucking with up to four tool systems at the same time, for example. As a result, non-productive times are extremely short and machining times are halved. In addition, automatic solutions reduce loading and unloading times to a minimum. HIGHLY EFFICIENT THANKS TO CENTER DRIVE In terms of efficiency, the advanced center drive technology developed by WMZ, which is available as an optional feature for all machines, is absolutely unbeatable. With this, the workpiece is clamped and driven in the center, enabling both ends of the shaft to be machined simultaneously. Center drive technology is particularly suitable where demanding requirements are made on truth of running between the right-hand and left-hand workpiece side in relation to overall concentricity, roundness, coaxiality and positional tolerance. With up to four tools working at once, machining time is drastically reduced. The integrated loading and unloading units ensure shorter non-productive times, so that the process time is shortened by up to 60% compared with similar machine concepts. Thanks to the modular design, a wide range of soft and hard machining processes can be implemented highly efficiently in one machining chamber. Fully automated, the V300 can produce large quantities in extremely short cycle times. The slim design and straightforward integration in production lines makes the V300 machine series very attractive for applications within the vehicle industry. In addition, the risk of having to make compromises in terms of machining quality due to rechucking errors is increased. With up to 6 compound slides, the I500 machine series provides maximum machining flexibility and sufficient space for quality-enhancing steady rests or an additional center drive. Shafts or pipes up to 2200 mm long can be geared using the optional Y-axis or grooved by milling. The inclined machine bed makes the machine particularly rigid and sturdy for the machining of large components. Type I500 is particularly suitable for shaft-shaped components for commercial vehicle powertrains or for pipes used for transporting raw materials. These can move up to two center-drive heads, two turrets with driven tools and Y-axis, two sleeves and two steady rests, allowing extremely long workpieces to be machined completely and precisely without additional retooling efforts. The I700 series is an extension of the I500 series, making it an ideal machining solution for shaft-shaped drive components for commercial vehicles or pipes for transporting raw materials.
