James C. Greenwood President & CEO James C. Greenwood is President and CEO of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in Washington, D.C., which represents more than 1,200 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations across the United States and in more than 30 other nations. BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products. BIO also produces the annual BIO International Convention, the world's largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, along with industry-leading investor and partnering meetings held around the world. Since his appointment in January of 2005, he has markedly enhanced the trade association s capacity increasing both its staff and budget by nearly fifty percent. BIO is now a world class advocacy organization playing a leading role in shaping public policy on a variety of fronts critical to the success of the biotechnology industry at the state and national levels as well as internationally. Mr. Greenwood represented Pennsylvania's Eighth District in the U.S. House of Representatives from January 1993 through January 2005. A senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, he was widely viewed as a leader on health care and the environment. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Greenwood served as Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation with oversight authority over issues in the full Committee's vast jurisdiction. He led hardhitting investigations into corporate governance at Enron, Global Crossing and WorldCom; terrorist threats to our nation's infrastructure; and waste and fraud in federal government agencies. Prior to his election to Congress, Mr. Greenwood served six years in the Pennsylvania General Assembly (1981-86) and six years in the Pennsylvania Senate (1987-1992). Mr. Greenwood graduated from Dickinson College in 1973 with a BA in Sociology. From 1977 until 1980, he worked as a caseworker with abused and neglected children at the Bucks County Children and Youth Social Service Agency. Mr. Greenwood is married with three children and resides in Upper Makefield, Pennsylvania.

Andrew Casey President and CEO In his role as President & CEO of BIOTECanada, Andrew is responsible for the day-today operations of the Association. In this capacity, he is the primary spokesperson for Canada's biotech industry communicating on the industry's behalf with government, regulators, international bodies, media and the Canadian public. He also ensures BIOTECanada plays a central role in partnership with Government in the development of policy relating to Canada's biotech sector and the member companies of BIOTECanada. Prior to joining BIOTECanada, Andrew served from 2004-2012 as Vice President, Public Affairs and International Trade and Vice President, Government Relations and Communications for the Forestry Products Association of Canada. In those roles he held responsibility for the Association s government relations, communications, media relations, advertising and international trade undertakings. From 1993-2004 he held the position of Assistant Vice-President, Government Relations with the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association. Between 1989 and 1993 Andrew held political assistant positions with a Member of Parliament and the Minister of State (Finance). Andrew Casey is a native of Montreal, Quebec. After attending Loyola High School (Montreal) and St. Lawrence CEGEP (Quebec City) he graduated from Carleton University (Ottawa) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Joanna DuPont Director, Industrial Biotechnology at EuropaBio Joanna Dupont-Inglis first joined EuropaBio, the European Association of Bioindustries, in February 2009 and in April 2011 was appointed Director of Industrial Biotechnology. Her work within EuropaBio focuses on helping to develop a stable, long-term, coherent regulatory framework for dynamic and innovative biobased industries as key enablers of the broader EU bioeconomy. In this context EuropaBio seeks a supportive and

competitive EU Common Agricultural Policy, an innovation-driven research program with a focus on Public Private Partnerships and industrial policy to help create market demand for smart and sustainable biobased products and processes. Improving understanding of the benefits and solutions provided by industrial biotech in tackling grand challenges such as resource efficiency, the need for food, feed and fuel, climate change mitigation and sustainable economic recovery are also a key focus. Dupont-Inglis has an academic background in Environmental Science from the Universities of Sussex, UK and Nantes, France. Between 2000 and 2009 she worked as a consultant in public affairs and strategic communications with a broad range of industries, trade associations and NGOs in Brussels, in the fields of environment, energy, agriculture, health and development. During this time she also worked for LIFE, the financial instrument of DG Environment at the European Commission. Dato Dr. Mohd. Nazlee Kamal Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp) Nazlee was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp) in July 2011.With 25 years of diverse industry background in biotechnology including 10 years of executive management experience, Nazlee brings in strong acumen in both the technical and business aspects of biotechnology. Recognized for his wide industrial leadership, Nazlee has played a pivotal role in the formulation of Malaysia s National Biotechnology Policy. He currently sits as a Board of Director of BiotechCorp, and as the Chairman of Bio- XCell Sdn Bhd, a custom-built biotechnology park and ecosystem in Iskandar Malaysia for industrial and healthcare biotechnology, with a focus on manufacturing and R&D. Nazlee is also one of the Advisory Panel members for Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) for Plant Science and Tissue Culture Node (PSTCN). This is a subsector in the development of a Centre of Excellence for Agriculture Biotechnology under North Corridor Economic Region (NCER) Biotech Initiatives. Nazlee s qualifications include a PhD. in Chemical Engineering (Bioprocess) from University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, Masters of Applied Science in Biotechnology with 8 Distinctions from University of New South Wales, Australia and B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering with High Scholarship at the Oregon State University, USA. Nazlee has written numerous papers for journals and is called on frequently to speak on a wide range of topics at conferences nationally and internationally.

Elizabeth Farina Chief Executive Officer, UNICA A professor since 1982 of the Economics Department at FEA, the University of São Paulo s Faculty of Economics, Administration and Accounting, Farina has been Head of the Economics Department since 2011. She is a former President of CADE, the Brazilian Competition Authority, and Vice-Coordinator of PENSA, the University of São Paulo s Agribusiness Intelligence Center. David Lindsay President and CEO of FPAC David Lindsay became the President and CEO of FPAC in September 2012. He was most recently a senior Deputy Minister in the Government of Ontario serving in the portfolios of Energy and Infrastructure, Northern Development, Mines and Forestry, Natural Resources, and Tourism and Culture. Before this, he served as President and CEO of the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario. Lindsay was the founding President of the Ontario SuperBuild Corporation and the Ontario Jobs and Investment Board. He also served as Principal Secretary and Chief of Staff to the Premier of Ontario. He is a Fellow of the Queen s University School of Policy Studies and past Director of the Ireland Park Foundation, the Ontario Innovation Trust, the World Wildlife Fund, the Canadian Tourism Commission, the Public Policy Forum and the Empire Club of Canada. A Graduate of Queen s University School of Business (Commerce 81), David is married to Charmaine and they have two adult children Tim and Sarah.

Mark Bünger Research Director Mark Bünger is a Research Director at Lux Research, with over 20 years of business strategy experience as a management consultant and technology analyst. In this time, he has advised more than 40 Fortune 500 corporations, led hundreds of engagements, and authored over 60 reports and other publications. He is passionate about science and its role in innovation, and works with R&D and business leaders at clients around the world. Mark joined Lux Research in 2005, and launched Lux Research s Intelligence Services in Alternative Fuels and Bio-based Materials & Chemicals; the company s Consulting practice; and its internal and external training program, Lux University. He currently focuses on innovation strategies and long-term industry foresight. Prior to joining Lux, Mark was a Principal Analyst at Forrester Research in automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing; a Managing Director at European technology consultancy LB International; a co-founder of leading online promotional currency company SoftCoin, sold to You Technologies; and a senior consultant at Accenture in the U.S. and Europe. Mark and his work have figured in leading media outlets in the U.S. and Europe, including CNN, PBS, CNBC, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News, American Chemical Society Nano Letters, and other technical, regional, and trade publications and channels. He is a frequent speaker with recent presentations to the European Commission, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Institute of Physics, and other government, academic, and industrial groups. Mark s business education was in International Business at Mälardalen Polytechnic in Sweden, and Market Research at the University of Texas at Austin. His ongoing technical education includes extension courses and lab work in neurology and bioengineering at University of California (Berkeley) and San Francisco (UCSF). He has served as Chairman and Vice-Chair of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce on the regional and national level, respectively.

Paolo Carollo EVP, Chemtex International Inc. Paolo has been Executive Vice President for the company since early 2005, working on several assignments including Project Development for innovative technology platforms, Business Development, Finance & Control, and Strategic Planning. Paolo joined Chemtex parent Company M&G Group in year 2000, and has extensive experience in different markets including International Technology Licensing, Engineering Procurement Construction Services, Specialty Chemicals, Consumer Markets. Chemtex is a leader in chemical engineering and renewable processes. In partnership with Texas Pacific Group and Novozymes, Chemtex is starting up a 40,000 metric ton per year bio-refinery in northern Italy that will produce cellulosic ethanol from locally sourced ligno-cellulosic biomass using its PROESA process, as well as green electricity. PROESA Process has also been selected by numerous leading green chemistry technology providers as the technology platform to produce cellulosic sugars for next generation bio-chemicals. Publicly announced collaborators include Amyris, Genomatica, Codexis and Gevo. Scott A. Vitters General Manager, PlantBottle Packaging Platform The Coca-Cola Company

Scott Vitters is General Manager of The Coca-Cola Company s PlantBottle packaging program. This internationally recognized innovation platform uses biological sciences to enhance the environmental and social performance of plastic packaging. Under Scott s leadership, PlantBottle packaging is demonstrating how big ideas for the planet can successfully be turned into commercial realities for delivering top-line growth and bottom-line efficiency. Scott joined The Coca-Cola Company in 1997 and has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, including Global Packaging Sustainability Director, North America Packaging Sustainability Director, Olympic Games Environmental Director; and Global Environmental Manager. Some notable advances during his tenure include the establishment of the company s packaging sustainability program, global investments in cutting edge recycling technologies, creation of a for-profit recycling enterprise and the launch of an award winning marketing campaign tied to recycling. Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, Scott served as a consultant to the Environmental Protection Agency s Office of Solid Waste. He also was a research fellow with the Environmental and Energy Study Conference, a congressional legislative caucus in Washington, DC. Scott is a highly respected leader in the field of packaging sustainability and innovation, speaking regularly at global conferences and events. He is an advisor to Michigan State University s Center for Packaging Innovation & Sustainability and Trustee of the Keystone Center. In 2011, Scott was recognized by Fortune Magazine as a Green Star Within the Most Admired Companies. Scott has a B.A. degree from Franklin & Marshall College and a M.B.A. from Georgetown University. Christophe Schilling Chief Executive Officer, Genomatic Christophe co-founded Genomatica and has served as our Chief Executive Officer since May 2009. Christophe holds a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego where he was a Powell Foundation and Whitaker Foundation Fellow. He received a B.S. in biomedical engineering from Duke University where he was a Howard Hughes Undergraduate Research Fellow. Christophe s awards include the Top 100 Young Innovators from MIT s Technology Review, R&D100 for the SimPheny part of the company s technology platform, and the

Dr. Stephan Freyer Senior Research Manager, Chemical Engineering Industrial Biotechnology, BASF SE Dr. Stephan Freyer, studied Chemistry in Cologne, Germany from 1982 to 1988. In 1989 he started to do research in the field of Biotechnology at the Research Center Jülich, Germany. In 1993 he joined BASF, Ludwigshafen, Germany and is now working as Senior Research Manager in the division Chemicals Research and Engineering, responsible for process development Industrial Biotechnology. Junichiro Kojima Associate General Manager of the R&D Planning Department for Ajinomoto Co., Inc Junichiro Kojima is the Associate General Manager of the R&D Planning Department for Ajinomoto Co., Inc, a science-oriented manufacturer and marketer of processed food, seasonings, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and animal nutrition. Mr. Kojima has worked in various capacities at Ajinomoto since 1992, including as Associate General Manager of Ajinomoto AminoScience, Manager of Marketing and Development in the Amino Acid and Global Foods Department, Technical Service staff, and Research staff. Mr. Kojima holds a Doctoral Degree of Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Dr. Andre Koltermann Head of Clariant s Biotech & Renewables Center Prof. Dr. Andre Koltermann leads the global activities of Clariant s Biotech & Renewables Center. Before the acquisition of Süd-Chemie he was head of strategic R&D since 2006. His background is in Biotechnology, which he studied at the Technical University at Berlin. In 1994/95 he worked at Berlex Biosciences, Inc. Richmond, USA. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Max-Planck-Institute Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen (Group of Nobel Laureate Prof. Manfred Eigen) in 1998 and led a research group at the same institute until 2000. Dr. Koltermann founded Direvo Biotech AG in 2000 and led the company as President and CEO until 2005. Dr. Koltermann is inventor in the field, published in peer reviewed journals and received several honors among others the TR100, Technology Review Magazine s list of 100 top innovators, finalists for the Entrepreneur of the year Award by Ernst & Young and the WTN Award in the category Biotechnology from the World Technology Network. Steve Hartig General Manager of POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels LLC Steve Hartig is General Manager of POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels LLC, a joint venture between Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based POET and DSM, headquartered in the Netherlands. He oversees the global rollout and licensing of the joint venture s integrated technology packages for the production of cellulosic ethanol. Hartig previously led the Bio-energy group of DSM s Bio-based Products & Services since 2012. His responsibilities covered DSM s activities in cellulosic bio-ethanol, including the POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels partnership, renewable diesel based on

DSM s platform for microbial oils, and biogas. DSM s Bio-energy business has operations in the U.S., Brazil and the Netherlands. Previously, Hartig headed several DSM business units in specialty coatings, biomedical materials, and UV-curable resins since 1990. His 30-year career includes experience with DuPont, where he worked for more than a decade in various Manufacturing, Sales and Development roles. Hartig is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he studied Chemical Engineering.
