GB 0233 Acc. 12633 Papers of Dr Sue Innes (1948-2005) 1995-2005 Fonds 0.44 m. Dr Sue Innes was a writer and researcher, and co-ordinator with Engender, the national Scottish women's organisation. After a career in journalism, mainly with Scotsman Publications, she returned to university, graduating with a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 1998. She taught feminist political theory at the University of Glasgow and held a research fellowship with the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships, Glasgow Caledonian University. She published work on feminism in the 1990s and inter-war period, on women and the Scottish Parliament and on families and care. The papers concern her research into the subjects of citizenship, women and gender studies. The collection contains correspondence, manuscript and typescript research notes, annotated typescripts of research papers, newscuttings and printed materials. Most of the material is undated. Two files containing photocopies of material from the archives of the Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty against Children (RSSPCC) have been destroyed. As the original material is held in Glasgow Caledonian University Archives (http://www.gcal.ac.uk/archives/rsspcc/index.html), it was deemed appropriate to dispose of it. The material has been arranged into four series which reflect Dr Innes research and academic interests: 1-26 WOMEN S ACTIVISM, CITIZENSHIP AND SUFFRAGE 27-34 EDINBURGH WOMEN CITIZENS ASSOCIATION AND NATIONAL WOMEN CITIZEN S ASSOCIATION 35-38 ROYAL SCOTTISH SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO CHILDREN RESEARCH PROJECT 39-45 MISCELLANEOUS Unrestricted access.
