We start the month with Debi Kuennen-Baker from Baby Lock. She will be here Tuesday, May 5 to share her love of the Sashiko Machine. This is a really fun machine and you will get hands on use in class to make a colorful bag. There are still a few spots left so sign up before we fill up. Wednesday, May 6 she will continue her stay with a hands on day on the Baby Lock Jet Air Threading Serger. This is the perfect time to test drive this wonderful machine. Sign up before all the spots are taken. Snippets from Sandy M A Y 2 0 1 5 Carolyn McCormick joins us on Wednesday, May 20. She is the creator of the Add A Quarter Ruler. Spend the day learning to paper piece and working on the Circle of Friends Quilt. Carolyn also has a brand new ruler to share with us. Claudia and I are off to Quilt Market May 13-17. Beginning Quilting At the end of the 4 sessions, you will have learned the basic skills of quilt making: fabric selection, rotary cutting, accurate piecing, and adding borders. Come to the first class prepared to purchase your fabric and tools. 20% discount will be given for purchases made in first class. No experience necessary. Stripology Ruler Each month we will have a class on a Creative Grids ruler. The class will be geared towards learning to use the tool and not necessarily making a specific project, but we will have project ideas for you. For this class you will need the Stripology Ruler if you don't already have one. We will supply the practice fabric. Bring your sewing machine, rotary cutter, small mat, and basic sewing supplies. $15 Tuesday, May 26: 2-4 pm Paper Piecing With Carolyn McCormick Join us to make the quilt, Circle of Friends. This quilt looks difficult with circular piecing, but it s really assembled with all straight stitches. The cost of the class is $50 and includes a light lunch. The supply list will be handed out when you register for the class. Wednesday, May 20: 10am-4 pm Youth Sewing Lil Monster Bag Kids will love this cute monster case. Change the monsters personality by how you place the eyes. Unzip its mouth to hold your treasures. We will have machines available for you to use. Sewing Machine Explore Your Sewing Machine Explore the features and stitches of your new machine. You will stitch samples of the utility stitches, buttonhole(s) and basic sewing techniques. No charge for machines purchased at Rae-Bon, $50 for others. Bring your machine, accessory feet, foot control, power cord, spool of thread, and bobbin. Saturday, May 23: 10 am-noon Explore your Scan N Cut Learn the basics of using you Scan N Cut. The class will cover scanning a pattern, cutting multiple pieces of a pattern, scan to cut a design printed on fabric, how to use every scrap of fabric, using built in templates, and more. We will discuss how to get your fabric ready for the Scan N Cut. No charge if you purchased your Scan N Cut at Rae- Bon, $50.00 to others. Bring your Scan N Cut, all mats, and accessories. Fabrics will be provided in class. Saturday, May 23: 1:00-3:00 pm Scan N Cut with Rhinestones The Rhinestone Kit is a great add on to bling up your life. The kit comes with 100 rhinestone patterns plus the ability to create your own on Scan N Cut Canvas. In class, Val will show you how to create a free account and get started building your designs and then turning them into rhinestone designs. Bring to class your Scan N Cut, Rhinestone Kit, something to put your design on ( bag, T shirt, etc), and a jump drive. Class fee is $10.00 if you purchased your Scan N Cut at Rae-Bon. $25.00 for others. Monday, May 18: 1:00-4:00 pm Class Policies Call or stop in to sign up and pay for the class of your choice. Class fee is due when you register. Phone registrations (701-433-7203) accepted only with a charge card payment. The class supply list will be available when you register and pay for the class. Supplies are not included in the class fee. Please have supplies purchased before class. Kits required are available at the store. BYOM means bring your own machine. No photocopied patterns or books will be allowed in classes. We consider your enrollment to be a commitment by you to take the class and we in turn make a commitment to the instructor. No cancellations are allowed on classes. Thank you for not asking us to make exceptions. Your sewing machine or serger must be in top working condition before you arrive at class. Students whose equipment is not working properly disturb and slow down the class. We service all brands of machines and sergers so come see us prior to the start of the class. 3 If you get together a group of 2 or more friends, we would be happy to setup a class date and time just for you.
Create with Embroidery Sealed with a Stitch has brought us an exciting new embroidery club. This month we will be making a cellphone charger station. Class fee is $20.00 and includes complete kit with embroidery design. Bring your embroidery machine and a spool of teal and black thread (suggested teal colors madeira polyneon 1746 or1685). Friday, May 1: Sew with us at 11:00 am or 6:00 pm Cutting Up at Noon Join us over the noon hour for a quick demo of a new ruler (or maybe a new product). Monthly Gatherings Continued PhD (projects half done) Study Hour PhD is for anyone who has unfinished projects less than 50% done. Register your unfinished projects by bringing them to the shop on Thursdays between 4-6 pm. Each time you complete one of these projects, you may enter a drawing to win a $25.00 gift card. Drawing will occur twice a year in June and December at our PhD party. Finished projects will be check in Thursdays between 4-6 pm. We will take your picture with your finished project and post on our Facebook page. Sign up is required each week to reserve your sewing space. There is no charge. Thursday, May 7, 14, 21, & 28: 11am-5 pm Simple Whatnots Simple Whatnots is a seven month club of miniature quilts (nothing will be bigger than 40 square). Each month we ll meet to talk about the next project. Claudia will share tips, tricks, and new products. We ll have coffee, snacks, and show & tell. To join the club, simply purchase the Simple Whatnots fat quarter tower. Tuesday, May 12: 1 or 6 pm Stitcher s Society Stitcher s Society is a group for hand embroiderers (beginners and those with experience). Each month we ll be learning new stitches and making gorgeous wool appliques on hexagons (wool, cotton, or flannel backgrounds). At the end of the program, you can turn your hexagons into a quilt or use them in smaller projects. This club will meet the 1st Wednesday of each month for the next 12 months.
