Tutoral ntroducton Ths tutoral leads you through the basc garment creaton process usng an llustrated step by step approach. Each slde shows the actual applcaton at the stage of the acton descrbed. 4 A. Import pattern fles. Close the D wndow. From the Fle menu select DXF s a unversal D format Supported by most CAD systems 4. DXF Exchange The Open dalog box opens. Import
B. Select the fle to mport. Select a DXF fle. Press the Open button. The Import DXF Dalog box opens 4
C. Check the mport optons. The unts are automatcally selected, Do not change them. Keep all other default settngs (recommended). Press the OK button. The Import Settngs Dalog box opens and the pattern s dsplayed 5
D. Verfy the rght scale. Select the rght scale whle lookng at the Actual dmensons at the Top left and bottom rght corners of the desk. Press the OK button. The Garment map Dalog box opens 6
Note: To open the Garment map manually press the Gmap button on the Man toolbar E. Defne basc garment parameters. Fll n the Garment Map. Most mportant are the Garment layer and the Garment type. Check the Ignore szng mechansm at ths stage. (If needed, ths may be attended to later on) 7
F. Prepare the pattern shapes. In Fttng center. Select Spread all shapes Fttng center s one of the 6 actvty centers whch are accessed at the bottom left corner All shapes are spread n rows 8
To show a hdden shape, Select t from the lst G. Hde unneeded shapes. In Fttng center > 4. Go to shapes >. Select Hde /Show Shapes Hde shape 4, whch s an nner lnng. We wll sttch the garment wthout t ths tme 4. Select the shape's number from the lst. The shape s hdden. 9
H. Rotate shapes 5 4. In Fttng center. Go to shapes. Select Rotate Rotate the shapes to angle worn on the body 4. Clck to select the shapes to be rotated. The shapes change color to red 5. Enter the rotaton value n the box and press Enter. The rotaton s appled
I. Symmetrze 4. In Fttng center. select Symmetry. The symmetry mode opens In Symmetry mode, shapes are dsplayed wth zero rotaton!. Select Symmetrc X or Y and clck a shape 4. The symmetrc slave s created colored purple
J. Arrange shapes Arrange the shapes frontally, as f you are lookng at a person wearng the garment. On the man toolbar press the Move button. clck & drag the shapes on the desk Symmetry wse, t s recommended to keep one sde wth master shapes, and the other wth slaves (Purple)
K. Create New clusters. In Fttng center. select Clusters. The system swtches to cluster mode Clusters consst of groups of shapes and ther D relaton to the avatar body. Select New and draw a marquee around the relevant shapes. A new cluster ttled Front s created
L. Defne the clusters. Under Fttng Clusters select Edt. Clck a cluster. The Cluster dalog box opens Avalable locaton and wrap type optons depend on the Gmap defnton of the garment For ths specfc garment, the locaton should be Rght/Left and the wrap type Rounded.Assgn Locaton and then Wrap Type. The cluster ttle Shows you selecton 4
M. Set Clusters symmetry. Under Fttng Clusters select Set Symmetry. Clck one cluster and then the other. The symmetry s set and the cluster ttle shows the relatonshp Clusters symmetry may only be appled when all shapes n both clusters are symmetrc 5
N. Prepare the edges for sttchng. In Seam center select Corners > Group. Clck the edges on both sdes of the corner pont Group/Ungroup to hde or reveal corner ponts as needed to adapt the edges for sttchng.the corner pont s hdden and the two edges are combned 6
O. Assgn seam allowance. In Seam center select Edges > Allowance. The Allowance dalog box opens Assgnng the approprate seam allowance s mportant for gettng the rght ft!. Clck to select the edges one by one. The selected edges numbers appear n the edge lst and change color to red It s possble to prepare the pattern wthout seam allowance and mport the DXF Wth the sew lnes only.in the Allowance box enter the allowance value and press Enter. The shapes show the new sew lnes wth the allowance ndcated graphcally 7
P. Assgn elastc shrnk values. In Seam center select Edges > Shrnk. The Shrnk dalog box opens The shrnk values are automatcally appled to the Symmetrc shapes. Clck to select the edges one by one. The selected edges numbers appear n the edge lst and change color to red To attan a froufrou effect for the leg openng, assgn negatve shrnk values.in the Shrnk box enter the percentage number and press Enter. The settngs wll take effect n the smulaton 8
Q. Sttch the garment. In Seam center select Sttch Regular. The cursor changes shape to a needle. Clck the two edges to be sttched n sequence. The sttch graphc ndcaton appears Note: Regular sttches are appled automatcally to the Symmetrcal shapes. Repeat for all other sttches 9
R. Fnalze the clusters.poston the shapes n the cluster accurately by movng them. The symmetrc cluster s adjusted automatcally The D hangng ponts should be placed n D, based on the cluster and garment types. In ths case, The poston s at the sde seam at the approxmate crotch heght. The fnal Poston wll be determned nteractvely In D. Under Clusters Select poston D. Clck & drag the D pont to the desred poston
S. Assgn Fabrc to the shapes. In Fabrc center select the fabrc con on the mage bank bar The default fabrc may be replaced wth an approprate fabrc later on. In Fabrc center select Fabrcs Assgn to All. All shapes are assgned wth the default fabrc
T. Assgn edge texture to the shapes. In seam center select the edge texture con on the mage bank bar The default edge texture should be replaced wth an approprate Textures later on. In seam center select Edge Texture Assgn to edge. Drag around all shapes. The default edge texture s assgned to all edges. The edges are hghlghted
U. Checkng the Garment before the smulaton. On the man menu press Dress. The garment s dsplayed n D before the smulaton. Rotate the avatar and check that the sttches are OK as well as the clusters poston n D. If needed, fne-tune the D placement: Hold Control. The clusters D poston ponts appear. Drag them to adjust the clusters
V. Smulate. On the D wndow tool bar press the Smulate button. The smulaton takes place 4
