Small Quilt Auction/Store Set-Up by Trisha Millonig We are hanging the small quilt auction this Thursday, 4/7 and setting up the store starting around 9 am. Anyone is welcome to help. Please bring any magazines, books and pattern donations when you drop off your quilts. For the show, here are the hanging requirements if anyone needs them. LARGE quilts (greater than 45 wide) will need a sleeve on the back top edge. Cut a strip of fabric the width of the quilt top and 10 wide. Fold in half lengthwise and sew a ¼ seam. Hand or machine baste to the top edge of the quilt back. Tack down the folded edge so the sleeve doesn t show. SMALL quilts (less than 45 wide) will need a sleeve on the back top edge. Cut a strip of fabric the width of the quilt top and 5 wide. Fold in half lengthwise and sew a ¼ seam. Hand or machine baste to the top edge of the quilt back. Tack down the folded edge so the sleeve doesn t show. Table runners will be hung lengthwise on the small quilt racks, so put the sleeve across the shortest side. Cut strip 5 wide and sew as above. Tack down the folded edge so the sleeve doesn t show. All quilts need to be labeled with at least your name for identification purposes. Any questions, call Trisha Millonig at 651-452-6007 after 6:00 pm Examples of two quilts that will be for sale at our small quilt auction. Come on in and start the bidding April 12-May 6! 2

March 2016 DCSQ Meeting Summary by Sunny Kline Wow, what a work party! We had about 25 members who participated in preparing donated fabric for our Quilt Show Boutique. Members brought in huge plastic bags and totes full of everything from small scraps to yardage, for us to sell at the Boutique. Each work area focused on a certain size of fabric, for efficiency in tying or bagging, and pricing. One table handled all the fat-quarters, another worked on the 1-yard pieces, another on the longer yardages, and another on the scrappy stuff. The show organizers were really organized, and thanks to Trisha and Marsha and Kathy for making sure we had supplies at the tables, and for getting us started and keeping the momentum going. Our table had a great time working on the scrap department, chatting, laughing, and getting to know each other better! Toward the end of the evening, there was Show-N-Tell. Sorry, there was so much going on with the fabric project that no photos were taken this time, but most of the items presented will also be in our quilt show and small quilt auction. You can see them close-up, as they hang in our beautiful show! Then three lucky participants won gift certificates to The Quilt Cove in a random door-prize drawing. Web Site Tip by Sunny Kline http://quiltersresources.net is a website that lists quilt shows and other events, shops, museums, guilds, and other stuff for quilters. Check it out, especially if you are planning to be traveling around and have time to visit a museum, quilt shop, or be a visitor at another guild! A Bittersweet Note by Carol Egan Kathy Lindstrom has accepted a job offer in Denver, CO! She does not know the dates of her move, but she will soon be going there for training, then coming back to sell her house. This means a fun, new chapter for Kathy! Congratulations! It means a loss for DCSQ as we will miss her energy, enthusiasm, and friendship. AND it means we have no one to fill the vacant position of guild chair. Several positions will be open and available for voting at our May meeting. This includes Guild Chair, Guild Vice Chair, Show Chair, Community Service, and Newsletter.. and others that Editor may not be aware of at the time of this writing. Please consider how you can contribute to the life of our guild by helping lead in these various positions. We need you!
