This face fits outside the perimeter of the glass trim. Face Installation Details The studio face fits around the perimeter of the glass trim. The face dimensions are listed below: Installation Height = 31-1/2 Width = 71-1/2 1 The three hanging brackets are secured directly above the tile stop on the fireplace. Place one bracket along the top of the fireplace, flush with the tile stop, 1 in from the outer edge (see photo below). You may need to press in on the bracket to allow the return flange to insert between the fiber board and tile stop. 2 Use the included 9/64 drill bit to drill three holes through the drywall and fiber board in the hole locations on the bracket (see photo below to the left). Use three screws to secure the bracket (see photo below to the right). Page 1 of 5 17601608-8/31/10 Travis Industries, Inc.
3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the bracket on the opposite side. 4 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to install a bracket at the center of the tile stop. 5 Place the two lower facing plates along the sides of the tile stop near the bottom of the glass (see photo below). Use the included 9/64 drill bit to drill two holes through the drywall, fiber board, and metal standoff in the hole locations on the bracket. Use drywall screws to secure each bracket. 6 Arrange the trim face down on a non-scratching surface (e.g.: cardboard). Each corner is held in place with two spacers and two L brackets. See the photo below. NOTE: The spacers have a large hole. The L brackets have two pre-installed set-screws. If any of these set screws have come loose, thread them into the L bracket. 7 Install one of the spacers into the channel on the trim (see photo below). Place one of the L brackets on top of the spacer (see photo below). If the L brackets are too tight, loosen the set screw a few turns. 8 Repeat step 6 for the other spacer and L bracket (see photo below). 9 Slide an adjoining piece of trim onto the L brackets and spacers. NOTE: If the L brackets are too tight, loosen a few turns. Do not tighten the L brackets at this time. Page 3 of 5 17601608-8/31/10 Travis Industries, Inc.
10 Repeat steps 6 through 8 for the opposite side. NOTE: If the L brackets are too tight, loosen a few turns. Do not tighten the L brackets at this time. 11 Slide the lower brackets into the side trim as shown below (this is done prior to installing the bottom trim on 4-sided trim). The brackets may need to be bent slightly to insure they remain in place. Make sure the magnets are in place before proceeding. WARNING: The powerful magnets may require pliers to properly position. Take care with the magnets to prevent damage. Keep the magnets away from children. 12 Install the bottom trim (see steps 6-8). 13 Once all of the spacers and L brackets are fully inserted, carefully align the trim, making sure each corner butts correctly to the adjoining piece. Tighten the set screws to secure the trim pieces together (see photo below). NOTE: Once assembled, you may notice some uneven joints on the trim. Loosen the set screws and realign the trim to insure correct alignment. Page 4 of 5 17601608-8/31/10 Travis Industries, Inc.
14 Before installing the face, we recommend applying a light coat of black stove paint along the edge of the tile stop (stove bright metallic black). This creates a uniform, black surface along the inside edge of the studio face. Use masking, if necessary, to prevent overspray. 15 Hang the trim on the brackets as shown below. The lower brackets, with magnets, will attach the lower facing plates (you may need to adjust bracket position to insure they contact the facing plates).. Make sure the trim is centered on the fireplace. Page 5 of 5 17601608-8/31/10 Travis Industries, Inc.
