IMPORTANT This shower screen / enclosure must be installed by suitably qualified individuals. We recommend a minimum of two people for safe assembly of certain sections of this screen. Ensure all appropriate safety equipment, especially protective footwear, safety glasses and gloves are used. When drilling holes in ceramic tiles, use masking tape to prevent the drill from slipping: DO NOT use hammer action as this will crack the tiles. Use a high quality drill bit to ensure a clean, precise hole. Please leave these instructions with the customer following installation. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION Before disposing of the packaging and prior to commencing assembly, please check all the components to ensure that they have been supplied correctly and are undamaged. Subsequent claims for missing or damaged pieces will not be accepted once the packaging has been disposed of and installation commenced. In the event of any queries please contact your supplier quoting the relevant model information. The Tray / Tiled floor on which this screen is to be installed must be level on all sides. It may be necessary to use alternate fixings to those supplied, depending on the properties of the walls to be fixed to. Use the protective corners supplied at all times until the glass is moved to its final position. Ensure that the glass is installed correctly, taking care to avoid installing the glass upside down. On certain panels an easy clean coating is applied to one side only, this is clearly marked with a sticker on the non-coated side. The coated surface is to be fitted inwards towards the inside (wet side) of the screen. Ensure that all surfaces to be sealed are clean and dry prior to applying the silicone sealant. Use a high grade fungal resistant sealant. Allow a minimum of 48 hours after application of the silicone sealant prior to using the screen. 6 Exploded View These instructions are for left and right handed options. The view below is for a Right Hand Open Out configuration with a SB8 glass to wall Configuration J stay bar. On screens with return panels 1000mm wide or less and inline hinge panels 400mm to 600mm wide, a SB2 Configuration B stay bar is included. On screens with return panels 1000mm or less and inline hinge panels 400mm or less, no stay bar is necessary. You will need to determine which configuration you have and adapt the instructions as appropriate. Page 6 of 25
1 Identify the return panel (this is marked on the label on the packaging). Measure the width of the return panel and add 12mm to this measurement, this is the nominal return underframe length. Distance Measured mm +12mm Nominal Return Length = mm 2 Measure the width of the inline panels and the door. Add these measurements together and add 21mm to this measurement, this is the nominal front underframe length. Inline Panel 1 mm + Inline Panel 2 mm + Door mm +21mm Nominal Front Length = mm 3 Lay these measurements out on the shower tray, if being used, or the shower floor if not. We suggest using masking tape where the corner position is to mark onto. Pay attention to the orientation of the underframe. 4 If using a raised shower tray, leave a recommended 3 8mm gap from the edge of the tray. There is a small amount of adjustment (±4mm) from the above marked lengths to allow the gap between the shower tray edge and the outer edge of the underframe pieces to be evened out if required. However, the final underframe length MUST BE within ±4mm of the nominal underframe lengths. IF NOT using a shower tray, use the nominal lengths as the final return and front dimensions for the underframe lengths. Page 7 of 25
Select the return panel underframe piece, 5 check you have the correct piece. Measure the final return dimension back from the mitred end (45 end) of the return panel underframe and mark, then carefully cut squarely with a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw. For best results we recommend wrapping some masking tape around the underframe in the area to be cut. Mark this with a Pencil to the correct length then cut, using a fine bladed Junior Hacksaw. Unwrap the tape, and remove any burrs with a fine toothed File, taking care not to scratch or damage the surface finish. Select the front underframe piece. 6 Measure the final front dimension back from the mitred end (45 end) of the front panel underframe and mark, then carefully cut squarely with a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw. Remove any burrs with a fine toothed File, taking care not to scratch or damage the surface finish. 7 Connect the underframe using the 90 underframe connector supplied. You will require a PZ1 size screw driver for this (not included). Underside of Underframe 8 Peel the backing strips from the self-adhesive pads on the underframe and press firmly down into position. Page 8 of 25
Insert the 10mm thick Square Alignment Jig to locate the wall channel. Using a 9 Spirit Level ensure that the channel is vertical, mark three holes through the predrilled channel as indicated to attach the channel to the wall. Repeat for the other wall channel. 10 Remove the two wall channels noting their position. Using a 5.5mm high quality masonry drill bit for a clean and precise hole, drill the holes where marked and insert the wall plugs fully. Professional Tip: If drilling ceramic tiles, place masking tape on the tiles before marking and drill through the tape to prevent the drill bit from skidding around. DO NOT use Hammer action as this will crack the tiles. 11 Test fix the wall channels using the screws provided. DO NOT use silicone at this point. Trial fit the return panel. Note the orientation and position of the return panel, this 12 can be determined by the number & size of holes and any attached labels. The return panel is fitted onto 2 stacks of spacers, positioned as shown within the base channel: Start with the 3mm spacers. NOTE, there must be a minimum of one No. 1mm spacer under the return panel. Page 9 of 25
Using purpose made Glass Lifters to handle the return panel, carefully insert into the wall channel and lower onto the spacers. The return panel must be inserted squarely into the wall channel and lowered into the base channel. Take great care NOT to knock the corners as this can cause the panel to shatter. To remove the return panel, lift squarely from the base channel and slide out of the wall channel. 20mm Holes this Side WARNING: The glass is heavy and may damage the floor and base channel if handled incorrectly. It is advisable to use a suitable non-slip protective mat to safeguard against damage to the floor (A strip of carpet is ideal). Never place glass across the base channel as this can damage it. 13 Remove and replace the return panel adding or subtracting spacers as necessary to level the panel (to a maximum height of 5mm inside the base channel). Check the return panel is level using a Spirit Level. 14 Loosely assemble the two 90 glass to wall brackets onto the return panel. The face that attaches to the wall should normally be located within the shower screen. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet. 15 Using a Pencil, mark the holes for attaching the 90 glass to wall brackets to the wall. Use a piece of masking tape where the brackets touch the wall to mark onto. Page 10 of 25
16 Trial fit the wall side inline panel (the inline hinge panel in this configuration). Note the orientation and position of the wall side inline panel, this can be determined by the number & size of holes and any attached labels. The wall side inline panel is fitted onto 2 stacks of spacers, positioned as shown within the base channel: Start with the 3mm spacers. NOTE, there must be a minimum of one No. 1mm spacer under the wall side inline panel. Using purpose made Glass Lifters to handle the wall side inline panel, carefully lower onto the spacers and slide into the wall channel. The wall side inline panel must be inserted squarely into the underframe and slid into the wall channel. Take great care NOT to knock the corners as this can cause the panel to shatter. To remove the wall side inline panel, slide out of the wall channel and carefully lift out of the underframe. 20mm Holes this Side 17 Remove and replace the inline panel adding or subtracting spacers as necessary to level the panel (to a maximum height of 5mm inside the base channel). Check the return panel is level using a Spirit Level. Loosely assemble the two 90 glass to wall brackets onto the wall side inline 18 panel. The face that attaches to the wall should normally be located within the shower screen. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet. 19 Using a Pencil, mark the holes for attaching the 90 glass to wall brackets to the wall. Use a piece of masking tape where the brackets touch the wall to mark onto. Page 11 of 25
Trial fit the return side inline panel. 20 Note the orientation and position of the return side inline panel, this can be determined by the number & size of holes and any attached labels. The return side inline panel is fitted onto 2 stacks of spacers, positioned as shown within the base channel: Start with the 3mm spacers. NOTE, there must be a minimum of one No. 1mm spacer under the return side inline panel. Using purpose made Glass Lifters to handle the return side inline panel, carefully lower onto the spacers and slide up to the return panel. The return side inline panel must be inserted squarely into the underframe and slid carefully up to the return panel. Take great care NOT to knock the corners as this can cause the panel to shatter. To remove the return side inline panel, slide away from the return panel and carefully lift out of the underframe Remove and replace the inline panel adding or subtracting spacers as necessary to level the panel (to a maximum height of 5mm inside the base channel). Check the return panel is level using a Spirit Level. Loosely assemble the 90 glass to glass brackets. Evenly tighten the screws until the gaskets are just nipped. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet. Check that the top of the return panel and the 23 adjacent inline panel are level. This can be done by raising or lowering one of the panels. Ensure that you add or remove spacers equally to raise or lower the panel. Remember not to stack the spacers higher than 5mm. If the difference in height between the panels is greater than 5mm, it may be necessary to lower the original panel before trying to raise the second. Page 12 of 25
Check that the top of the two inline panels are level. This can be done by raising or lowering one of the panels. Ensure that you add or remove spacers equally to raise or lower the panel. 24 Remember not to stack the spacers higher than 5mm. If the difference in height between the panels is greater than 5mm, it may be necessary to lower the original panel before trying to raise the second. Using a straight edge mark 25 the wall channels where they need to be trimmed, in line with the top of the respective return and inline panels. We recommend putting a piece of masking tape on the wall channel edge and marking onto this to prevent damage to the wall channel finish. Remove the return panel, inline panels & the wall 26 channels and set the panels safely aside to refit later. Note the position of each respective wall channel. Using a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw, carefully cut the wall channels to the correct 27 length. Ensure that the cuts are square and along the marks made. Carefully use a fine toothed File to remove any burrs and sharp edges, taking care not to scratch or damage the surface finish. 28 Using a 5.5mm high quality masonry drill bit for a clean and precise hole, drill all the marked holes and insert the wall plugs fully. Page 13 of 25
Re-attach the wall channels in their previous position, 29 this time using silicone sealant as indicated. Run a bead of silicone sealant along the back face of the wall channels to make a water tight seal to the wall. Again, place the Square Alignment Jig in and ensure the channels are vertical using a Spirit Level. Wipe away any excess sealant that may have squeezed out the side of the channel, to leave a clean finish. 30 Run beads of silicone sealant down the return panel wall channel only, on the inside faces as shown one at a time. DO NOT run too larger beads or fill the channel with silicone. It is VERY IMPORTANT to put a good amount of silicone in the corner where the wall channels meet the return panel underframe. This area needs to be properly sealed to prevent any water leakage. Page 14 of 25
31 28 Ensure the spacers are still in place in the return panel underframe. Carefully replace the return panel ensuring it is level. Ensure the front edge of the return panel butts up to the front underframe inside edge with no gap. Re-assemble the 90 glass to wall brackets to the return panel. Evenly tighten the screws until the gaskets are just nipped, then turning each screw a quarter turn at a time, tighten the screws by one full turn. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet. No Gap Ensure the spacers are still in place in the underframe for the return side inline 32 panel. Carefully replace the return side inline panel ensuring it is level and butted squarely up to the return panel with no gap. 33 Loosely assemble the 90 glass to glass brackets. Evenly tighten the screws until the gaskets are just nipped, then turning each screw a quarter turn at a time, tighten the screws by one full turn. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet. 34 Ensure the spacers are still in place in the underframe for the wall side inline panel. Carefully replace the wall side inline panel. Measure the width of the door panel. Add 11mm to this dimension. Set the gap 35 between the two inline panels to this dimension and mark the inner edge of the wall side inline panel on the underframe. This marks where the wall side inline panel needs fitting to, once silicone is applied. We recommend putting a piece of masking tape on the underframe edge and marking onto this to prevent damage to the underframe finish. Remove the wall side inline panel and safely set aside to refit later. Page 15 of 25
36 Run beads of silicone sealant down the inline panel wall channel, on the inside faces as shown one at a time. DO NOT run too larger beads or fill the channel with silicone. It is VERY IMPORTANT to put a good amount of silicone in the corner where the wall channel meets the front underframe. This area needs to be properly sealed to prevent any water leakage. Ensure the spacers are still in place in the underframe for the wall side inline panel. Carefully replace the wall side inline panel, aligning the edge to the mark you made earlier: Fix in place with the 90 glass to wall brackets. Evenly tighten the screws until the gaskets are just nipped, then turning each screw a quarter turn at a time, tighten the screws by one full turn. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet Place the door supports over the underframe as shown. With one person inside the screen, position the door onto the door supports. Page 16 of 25
39 Add spacers to the door supports in order to level the door. Check that the top of the door is level with the inline panels. If necessary, add or 40 remove spacers equally under the door. The gap between the door and the inline hinge panel should be approximately 5mm, and the gap between the door and the inline non-hinge panel should be 6mm. Page 17 of 25
41 Attach the glass to glass hinges and tighten. Evenly tighten the screws until the gaskets are just nipped, then turning each screw a quarter turn at a time, tighten the screws by one full turn. DO NOT fit the cover plates yet. View from Outside 42 If a handle option is included, attach the handle, securing in place with the grub screws supplied. The handle should be oriented so that the grub screws are not visible when looking down at the handle. Page 18 of 25
43 Open the door and measure the distance between the inline panels. Mark and squarely cut the underframe top to this dimension. Run two small beads of silicone along the underside of the underframe top and push firmly into position. Outside of Shower Inside of Shower 44 Attach the bottom door seal to the bottom of the door. Check the orientation is correct. Using a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw trim the bottom door seal level with the edges of the door. 20 45 31 Attach the glass to glass seal to the inline hinge panel so that it butts up to the underframe top. Check the orientation is correct. Using a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw trim the glass to glass seal level with the top of the inline hinge panel. We suggest using a sharp Modelling Knife to cut the softer tail part of the seal. Attach the glass to glass bubble/h seal to the inline non-hinge panel so that it butts up to the underframe top. Check the orientation is correct. Using a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw trim the glass to glass bubble/h seal level with the top of the inline non-hinge panel. We suggest using a sharp Modelling Knife to cut the softer tail and bubble part of the seal. 46 Using a sharp Modelling Knife, trim any excess gasket material from the hinges and brackets that may have squeezed out when tightening. Take care not to scratch the glass surface. Fit the cover plates to the hinges and wall brackets. 47 Check which stay bar configuration your screen has been supplied with (listed towards the front of these instructions) and refer to the relevant instructions below. Stay Bar Configuration B B1 Assemble the stay bar to the glass clamp. Page 20 of 25
B2 Secure the glass clamp over the wall side inline panel, ensuring it is also squarely touching the adjacent wall. B3 Ensure that the stay bar is level and square, mark the location of the end of the bar onto the wall. Remove the stay bar and position the stay bar connector central to the line and with a small drill, mark the holes for drilling. Use a piece of masking tape where the stay bar touches the wall to mark onto. B4 Drill a 5.5mm high quality masonry drill bit for a clean and precise hole, drill the holes where marked and insert the wall plugs fully. Screw the stay bar connector to the wall, reassemble the stay bar to the inline panel and securely tighten. Page 21 of 25
Stay Bar Configuration J J1 Measure the width of the top of the screen from the inside of the return panel to wall opposite. Ensure that this measurement is truly horizontal. Distance Measured Final Dimension = mm -5mm mm Mark the final dimension on the stay J2 bar from one end. We suggest wrapping a piece of masking tape around the stay bar to make this easier. Carefully cut the stay bar using a fine toothed Junior Hacksaw, taking care to make sure the cut is square. Using a fine toothed File remove any burrs or sharp edges, taking care not to scratch or damage the surface finish. DO NOT discard the off-cut yet. Page 22 of 25
J3 To prepare the cut end of the stay bar to take the glass clamp, attach the off-cut to the stay bar with masking tape as shown. Make sure the non-cut end of the off-cut is aligned with the end of the stay bar that you have just cut. Use the Guide holes to drill two 5mm holes through one side of the stay bar only. Be careful NOT to drill through completely. J4 Assemble the stay bar to the glass clamp. J5 Place the two stay bar tee pieces onto the inline panels as shown, aproximately 15mm in from the edge of the inline panels. Door Door Page 23 of 25
44 J6 Secure the glass clamp over the return panel making sure it is sitting fully into the two stay bar tee piece grooves. J7 Ensuring that the stay bar is level and square, mark the location of the end of the bar onto the wall. Remove the stay bar and position the stay bar connector central to the line and with a small drill, mark the holes for drilling. Use a piece of masking tape where the stay bar touches the wall to mark onto. J8 Using a 5.5mm high quality masonry drill bit for a clean and precise hole, drill the holes where marked and insert the wall plugs fully. Screw the stay bar connector to the wall, reassemble the stay bar to the return panel and securely tighten all fittings. Page 24 of 25
Apply silicone sealant as shown below to where the fixed glass meets the underframe on the inside, between the underframe and the shower tray (or tiles) and the wall channel & wall, inside & out. Run a fillet of silicone sealant down the join between the inline and return panels on the inside (wet side) of the screen. 48 View Outside Wall Channel Inside of Shower View Inside Page 25 of 25
