MONDAY, July 11 9.00 10.30 Session I NATO in New Strategic Environment Jiří Schneider, Aspen Institute Prague Jiří Schneider entered public life after democratic changes in 1989 when he was elected to the Czechoslovak Parliament (Federal Assembly) in 1990 and 1992. In 1993 he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held various positions at the Czech diplomatic service. Most prominently he served as Ambassador to Israel (1995-1998) and First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic (2010-2014). Jiří Schneider graduated at The Czech Technical University (ČVUT) and obtained a Diploma in Religious Studies from University of Cambridge. From 2000 to 2009 he lectured on security studies, international relations, public policy, and the role of think tanks in Central Europe at Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, and New York University in Prague. During the International Policy Fellowship at the Central European University in Budapest he published on Think Tanks in Visegrad Countries (2003) and Lobbying and Interest Representation (2007). He was closely associated with the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI), a leading Czech security think tank, as a Program Director (2005-2010) and most recently as a Senior Fellow and Director of Special Projects (2014-2015). Jiří s engagement with Aspen dates back to the early 90ʼs when he was a fellow of Aspen Institute Germany. More recently he supported the establishment of Aspen Institute Prague and served as a member of its Supervisory Board from 2011 to 2014. 10.30 12.00 Session II NATO's Capablities: Polish Perspective Tomasz Kowalik, Military Foreign Affairs Department, Ministry of National Defence of Poland Colonel Kowalik is Director of Military Foreign Affairs Department, Ministry of National Defence of Poland since March 2016. Right before the current post, Colonel Kowalik served as a Special Assistant to the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee in the the NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Before that, he was the Military Assistant for two Chiefs of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces. Col Kowalik is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer College in Toruń. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MA and PhD in Pedagogy from the Maria-Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin.

14.00 17.00 Workshop I Two Years After Crimea: Current Situation in Eastern Ukraine Petr Pojman, Prague Security Studies Institute Jan Lipavský, Total Solutions Bio of the speakers: Petr Pojman is PSSI's Fellow, joining PSSI team in August 2014. Mr. Pojman holds a PhD from the International Area Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. He focused on the issue of security and organized crime and spent fellowships in Russia, United Kingdom and Belarus. His research focused on the issue of security and organized crime and human trafficking in Czechia, EU and former USSR. In addition, Mr. Pojman is an Executive Board and founding member of the Czech Society of Criminology. In 2012, he conducted research on the Russian-speaking organized crime groups, for the Institute of Criminology and Social Prevention of the Czech Republic. He is regularly giving lectures for different institutions in Russia and Czech Republic and has taken part in a number of international criminological conferences. He is a consultant to commercial, non-governmental, governmental and law-enforcement agencies. Jan Lipavský is a Project Director in a private company developing software for banks, stock exchange and FX traders. He also has an experience with working for a global management consulting firm and an ad agency. Besides that, his main area of expertise is in the field of cyber security. He particularly focuses on the Eastern Europe and asymmetric warfare taking place in Ukraine in the last few years. He holds a degree from the International Area Studies and at Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. He also spent a two semesters at the University of Kent in UK. TUESDAY, July 12 9.00 10.30 Session III NATO as a Topic in the US Presidential Elections Daniel Anýž, Newsweek Daniel Anýž works as a staff reporter with Newsweek, Czech Edition, which is a news magazine published in Prague under the umbrella of Newsweek, USA. He was US correspondent, based in Washington D.C., for Czech daily paper Hospodářské noviny between 2006-2010. Mr. Anýž graduated from Charles University in Prague in 1988, he was Fulbright Fellow at College of Journalism, University of Maryland at College Park, in 2001/2002. He worked for BBC Czech Section between 2003-2005 and was correspondent from Bucharest, covering the region of Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova.

10.30 12.00 Session IV NATO-Russia Petr Kolář, Former Czech Ambassador to Russia and the USA Senior Advisor at Squire Patton Boggs law firm specializing in commercial diplomacy and global government relations, Mr. Kolář previously worked as Director of the Foreign Affairs department at PPF investment group (2013), where he focused on relations with Asian countries. Prior to joining the private sector, he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for bilateral relations, Advisor to President Václav Havel for European integration and the Balkans, and as Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Russia (2010 2012), the United States (2005 2010), Ireland (1999 2003), and Sweden (1996 1998). He earned his PhDr. from Charles University, Prague. 14.00 17.00 Workshop II Russia s Disinformation Campaigns Ivana Smoleňová, Prague Security Studies Institute Ms. Smoleňová s fields of expertise include the geopolitics of Russia, its use of soft power projection and hybrid warfare tactics in Eastern Europe, in particular the pro-russian disinformation and propaganda in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. On the topic, she has published papers and numerous articles in Czech, Slovak and Ukrainian media as well as in the American Forbes, and is frequently interviewed by Czech and Slovak media outlets. Prior to joining PSSI, she worked for the Forum 2000 Foundation, Aspen Institute in Prague and with RWR Advisory Group, in Washington, D.C. Ms. Smoleňová holds a Bachelor s and Master s degree in Corporate Economics and Development Studies from the University of Economics in Prague. She also studied at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and George Mason University in Washington D.C. WEDNESDAY, July 13 9.00 10.30 Session V NATO: Towards a New Transatlantic Bargain Martin Michelot, EUROPEUM Martin Michelot is the Director of the Global Europe program and Head of Research at the Europeum Institute for European Policy in Prague and nonresident fellow at the Paris office of the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Mr. Michelot specializes in transatlantic security policy and the developments in the field of NATO and CSDP, with a particular focus on Central

European cooperation and French foreign policy; U.S. domestic and foreign politicy; and the studies of think tanks. He is a graduate of Sciences Po Lyon, where he studied international relations and European affairs, including a year at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, USA). His previous experiences include the Brookings Institution (Washington, DC), where he served as a research assistant, and the French National Assembly, as parliamentary assistant. 10.30 12.00 Session VI How is NATO Preparing for the Cyber War Lilly Muller, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs Lilly Pijnenburg Muller is a junior research fellow in the Research Group for Security and defense at NUPI. She specializes in cybersecurity and cybersecurity capacity building and is currently working on the cyber capacity building project systematically exploring cyber security risks in developing countries. Her research interests include security politics, global governance and public-private relations. She has worked and/or studied in England, Scotland and the Czech Republic. 14.00 16.00 Session VII Hybrid Warfare and NATO's Situational Awareness Heidi Meyer, NATO Allied Land Command Heidi Meyer is the Political Advisor to LTG Darryl A. Williams, US Army, Commander NATO Allied Land Command in Izmir, Turkey. Before, Ms. Meyer was the faculty coordinator and lecturer for US diplomats in the areas of Civilian Security, Conflict Response and Prevention at US Department of State, Foreign Service Institute in Virginia. Ms. Meyer s expertise is institutional governance capacity building and civil-military relations. From 2009 to 2011 she was US Embassy Kabul lead for Sub-National Governance and Stabilization. Ms. Meyer was Country Director on the US Afghan policy desk in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Under Secretary for Policy between 2007 and 2009 under the Bush and Obama administrations. From 2006 to 2007 she worked for the US DoD in the Afghan Presidential Palace. Prior to that, she worked for NATO as the Deputy Director of Operations at US Army NATO, SHAPE in Belgium, civil-military affairs staff officer at NATO Headquarters Naples, Italy and the civilian CIMIC desk officer during the Kosovo crisis. Her Graduate Degree is MSC in International Relations from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University.

THURSDAY, JULY 14 9.00 10.30 Session VIII Next Generation of Sanctions: Market-Based Tools Roger W. Robinson, Prague Security Studies Institute Roger W. Robinson, Jr. has served as President and CEO of RWR Advisory Group since 1985 and of the Conflict Securities Advisory Group, Inc. between 2001 and 2009. He likewise serves as Chairman and Co-founder of the Prague Security Studies Institute. Prior to forming the firms referenced above, Mr. Robinson served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Congressionally-mandated U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission for much of the time from 2001 to 2006. He also served as Senior Director of International Economic Affairs at the National Security Council (NSC) from March 1982 until September 1985. Between January 1984 and April 1985, Mr. Robinson served as Executive Secretary of the Senior Interdepartmental Group-International Economic Policy, a Cabinet-level body that reported through the NSC to the President. Prior to joining the NSC staff, Mr. Robinson was a Vice President in the International Department of the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. Mr. Robinson has published extensively on security-related risk in the global capital markets and East-West economic and financial relations. He has served as an expert witness on numerous occasions before both Senate and House Committees. 10.30 12.00 Session IX Europe as a Space Security Actor Jana Robinson, Prague Security Studies Institute Jana Robinson is currently Space Security Program Director at the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI). She previously served as Space Policy Officer at the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels. She was also a Space Security Advisor to the Czech Foreign Ministry, seconded to the EEAS. From 2009 to 2013, Ms. Robinson worked as Resident Fellow at the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), seconded from the European Space Agency (ESA), leading the Institute s Space Security Research Programme.

14.00 15.30 Session X Russian Foreign Policy Tools Mark Galeotti, Institute of International Relations, Prague Dr Mark Galeotti is transitioning from his former role as Professor of Global Affairs at New York University to Prague, where he is taking up positions as a senior research fellow at the Institute of International Relations and principal director of the consultancy Mayak Intelligence. He read history at Robinson College, Cambridge University and then took his doctorate in politics at the London School of Economics, after a brief time working in the City of London. Before moving to NYU, he was head of History at Keele University in the UK. He was a special advisor at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, covering post- Soviet organised crime and Russian security and intelligence services. He has been a visiting professor at Rutgers Newark, Charles University (Prague), and MGIMO (Moscow). He has published widely, with 14 authored and edited books to his name (his most recent, Spetsnaz: Russia s special forces, came out in 2015) and numerous articles in the academic, professional and popular press. He is the Founding Editor of the journal Global Crime. He also has widespread consultancy experience, with clients ranging from governments and lawenforcement agencies (including the FBI and Interpol) through to commercial clients. He has given evidence before the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee and briefed officials from numerous British and foreign government departments. 15.30 17.00 Session XI Key Deliverables from the NATO Warsaw Summit Barbora Maronková, Public Diplomacy Division, NATO HQ Ms. Maronková graduated at the University of Economics, Bratislava, Slovak Republic at the Faculty of International Relations in 2002. She established and headed a Slovak based NGO Centre for European and North Atlantic Affairs to contribute to the public and academic debate on Slovakia s membership to EU and NATO from March 2003 till February 2006. She joined the NATO International staff in September 2006 and has since worked in different positions with the NATO Public Diplomacy Division, including a strategic planner for the Press and media section and a leader of an assessment and evaluation cell. She was also responsible for design, planning and execution of a number of high profile public diplomacy events in Croatia, Slovakia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey on behalf of NATO. She is currently serving as a Non-resident Fellow with the Center on Public Diplomacy, University of Sothern California and is the chief organizer of the annual NATO s Public Diplomacy Forum in Brussels.
