Make a copy of the original and work with the copy 2. Check the quality and resolution 3. Crop 4. Repair flaws (rips, dust, or stains) 5. Adjust contrast and tonal range 6. Adjust - Remove color casts 7. Adjust color and tone (highlights, midtones, shadows, and desaturation) 8. Sharpen Note: You should complete these process in order Layers Image are stacked on top of another you see the cumulative effect. You can isolate image areas Apply special effects without affecting other layers Rearrange layers stacking order to create different design effects You can apply a different opacity and style to each layer Ctrl-Shift-N (Create New Layer) Select, Ctrl+J (Create layer from selection)

Advantage & Disadvantage Advantage of layers: Provides ability to isolate effects and images on one layer without affecting other layers Disadvantage of layers: An image containing multiple layers can get very large Image Layers File Size What To Do With Layers Add, delete, duplicate, and move layers Hide and display layers You can use blending modes to change the way layers interact.
