RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE 2015 DUNELAND WOODCARVING SHOW 1. APPLICATION: - Applications are being accepted from those individuals who do intarsia, bowl and vessel turning, marquetry, scroll sawing, as well as gourd carving. - Payment must accompany all applications. - Application deadline is March 8, 2015 (or sell out). - Confirmation with table or area assignment will follow receipt of application and payment fee - Selections made by individuals at the 2014 show for the 2015 show will be honored first as will requests from the Duneland Woodcarvers membership, if at all possible, until November 30, 2014. Tables or areas will be assigned on a first come/first serve basis after that. - Limit of (2) exhibitors per table. - For competition, each exhibitor must pay full table fee. 2. SETUP TIME: - 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 8:00 to l0:00 a.m. Saturday 3. TABLE DISPLAY: - No crafts, collections, or flea market items will be allowed. Non-wood carved pieces, such as golf balls, pencils, and machine produced (CNC) pieces may be displayed on tables and may be sold. - Show officials may remove any objectionable material at any time. 4. EXHIBITORS: - Are responsible for collection of Indiana sales tax. - Must remain until show closing time - 5 pm Saturday and 4 pm Sunday. - Will only display their own work. - Will not display previously awarded ribbons. - Are responsible for clean up of their area. - Are encouraged to use personal table covers and skirts. - Are encouraged to carve during the show but carpeted areas must be covered with plastic sheeting. NO pets are allowed in the building. Woodland Park only allows service animals in any of their buildings. 5. OVERNIGHT SECURITY: is provided by exhibit hall 6. SMOKING OR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES are not permitted on the premises. 7. OVERNIGHT PARKING is not permitted in the Woodland Park parking lot. 8. MULTI- TYPE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS can be used on the hall outlets. 9 THE DUNELAND WOODCARVERS CLUB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE. 10. CHAIN SAW CARVERS wishing to attend the show must pay applicable table fees if demonstrating and selling. Additionally, they will: Provide their shelter and personal safety gear if carving outside. Carver assumes responsibility for cleanup. Declare on the application whether they will need space inside or outside. If demonstrating only the table fee will be waived.

Changes Made For the 2015 Show After reviewing the critique sheets turned in by participants the Duneland Woodcarvers have made the following changes: 1. There was some discussion regarding leaving all items being judged in the judging area until late Sunday afternoon for those coming to the show, as well as, those who entered pieces. The purpose being so everyone could see what the competition was like in each category. The decision was made to leave all items until 4:00 pm Saturday afternoon. Participants will then be able to retrieve their items. 2. Categories to be judged has the following changes: Fish is category 102 and Aquatic Mammals is category 103. Category 104 which is Stylized Aquatic Mammals and Fish will remain the same. Birds of Prey and Game have been separated. Game Birds are category 110 and Birds of Prey are category 112. 3. People using a CNC carving machine can display their work but there currently is no category available for purposes of being judged. 4. The judging category for gourds will remain the same for now; i.e., gourds may be carved, burned (pyrography), painted or some combination of one to three or more techniques. 5. The club has contacted Pat Moore about doing a 2 ½ day carving class prior to the show (Wed., April 8 through Fri., morning, April 10), being one of our judges and displaying her work at the show. The details for this will be finalized prior to the end of January, 2015. 6. Note new address for mailing completed applications.

COMPETITION RULES FOR 2015 A. Entries accepted from exhibitors with paid table and entry fee. B. Non-exhibitors (no table) must pay the applicable table fee plus the entry fee for each piece entered. C. Unlimited entries are allowed. D. First, second, and third Best of Show must remain on the premises for the entire show. E. Carvers are responsible for the category choices. Judges may move pieces to other categories. F. Judges decisions are final in all cases. G. Criteria for judging will be originality, design, finish and presentation. H. Judges will determine which pieces should receive a ribbon, be it first, second, third, or honorable mention. I. Judges are NOT required to award any particular ribbon in any or all categories. J. A painted carving is any finish that obscures the wood grain. K. Pieces entered for judging must have been completed within 18 months of the show. L. Pieces entered for judging cannot have won an award or ribbon in previous Duneland Woodcarver shows. M. In the Junior Open category, the carver must be present on the day of judging and, while all entry fees do apply, the table fee requirement is waived N. Three specific wood working categories (#142, #143, and #144) have been added and one general category (#145) that does not fall into one of the specific categories, as well as a category for gourds (#146) and Antlers (#147). O.
