Monterey Peninsula College 2017-18 Catalog STUDIO ARTS For the Associate in Arts for Transfer degree (AA-T) program, see page 95 in the MPC 2016-17 Catalog. The Art Studio program is a comprehensive certificate and degree program that promotes technical and conceptual expertise in studio art. Students can major in eight different specific areas or in general studio. An understanding of art theory and practice across cultures is promoted. Students are taught to use studio techniques that apply to the pursuit of individual expression through visual art and aesthetics. Students develop an appreciation of image, process, and content in visual art. Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to: Analyze and interpret human thought, achievement, and expression relevant to such branches of knowledge as philosophy, literature, and/or the fine, visual, and performing arts, and to communicate the results. Effectively communicate and express themselves and make themselves understood through a range of visual, auditory, tactile, and symbolic means.
