Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes Contents Operation All Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are supplied with operating and mounting manuals. Interface information is also included. Observe operation instructions of machine manufacturer, especially when Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are connected with machine control systems and are controlled by them. Correct operation cannot be ensured and danger to personnel and machine cannot be excluded unless these operating instructions or information given in this catalogue are observed. Service and Maintenance Since Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are subject to chemical and physical influences, maintenance and service has to be performed with special care. EDM current flow requires a good conductive connection (contact) to machine table. The conductivity of water and chlorides normally contained in water can influence the rust-resistant properties of the axis. Residues (varnishes, eroded particles etc.) from the electrical discharge process should be removed on a daily basis. The warranty is restricted to replacement or repair, free of charge, of any defective parts. Claims arising from improper use or handling shall not be considered. Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes for Wire and Sinking EDM Introduction Many erosion tasks cannot be solved efficiently without using a Rotary Indexing Table or an A-Axis, as for example wire cutting of carbide tipped tools and turbine rings. Over 150 HIRSCHMANN axes are used in the orthopaedic industry worldwide for the manufacture of saw guides and replacement body parts. HIRSCHMANN Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are manufactured with faceplates with a diameter range from 80 to 800 mm and/or machine tapers mountings SK50 or HSK63. Innovative HIRSCHMANN Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes increase productivity of EDM and improve the quality of their products. General Accuracy HIRSCHMANN Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are manufactured to high precision standards and are subject to rigid quality controls. Indexing and positioning accuracy are proportionally dependant on the quality of the measuring system and a drive system that is free from backlash. HIRSCHMANN Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are always provided with a direct measuring system and an OTT worm pinion free of backlash or Harmonic Drive gears. These are conditions for highest accuracy and high precision positioning. Positioning accuracy is measured every 15 degrees (forward and back). The results are furnished in a test certificate which is part of the documentation enclosed with each Rotary Indexing Table and A-Axis. Control System HIRSCHMANN Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes can be integrated to machine control as an additional axis by the OEM allowing the possibility to Turn & Burn. For easy and quick integration the Tables and A-Axes can be provided with AC or DC drives and measuring systems of the various manufacturers that are compatible to their control systems. When integration to the machine control is not possible, the HIRSCHMANN Control System H1625 can be used. It can be connected to the machine control via a 24v signal for automatic indexing only. In this case Turn & Burn is not possible. Rotary Indexing Tables and A-Axes are compatible to EDM following manufacturers: AGIE, BES, CHARMILLES, ELECTRONICA, EXERON, FANUC, MAKINO, MITSUBISHI, OPS-INGERSOLL, SODICK and others. Rotary Indexing Tables All HIRSCHMANN Rotary Indexing Tables are equipped with a direct measuring system (Closed loop). If necessary, an internal electromagnetic or pneumatic brake for the clamping of face plate (Rotary Table) is installed. As standard a DC drive is integrated but can be changed to an AC drive for machine control integration.
