The other Grilles will interfere with the Radar Transceiver. WREATH & CREST INSTALLATION: On standard grilles, heat the back of the grille with a heat gun to soften the double faced tape and carefully remove the wreath & crest emblems from the factory grille using a plastic squeegee. Do not use a metal screw driver or you will damage the emblems. Clean the emblems and use new double faced tape (not included) to adhere the emblems to the supplied mounting plate. Install the emblem plate to the Mesh grille using the mounting washer and ESNA half nuts. On the 3D Z grille, use double faced tape to adhere the emblem plate to the grille. The Classic Mesh Grille is shown, all other versions use the same installation procedure.. Remove the factory cover panels located on the sides of the engine and the radiator cover by removing the retaining fasteners.
3. Remove the factory plastic push fasteners retaining the factory grille by lifting up on the center pin and remove the push fasteners. 3. Pull the top of the grille straight out to release the retaining clip.. Using a small flat blade screw driver or door panel removal tool, pry the center of the side push fasteners out until you can pull the push fastener out of the grille mounting tabs. 5 5a 5. Squeeze the center of the lower grille mounting tabs and push them through the slots in the bumper cover to remove the factory grille. Remove the factory emblem from the grille using a plastic squeegee to cut through the double faced tape attaching the emblem. Remove the factory double faced tape and apply new double faced tape (not supplied). E&G recommends using 3M brand double faced tape for the emblem installation onto the emblem mounting plate. Then bolt the plate onto the E&G grille using the supplied #0 flat washers, lock washers and 8-3 hex nuts. Steps 5a through 5g are for factory emblem installation on vehicles equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control. 5a. Use a small flat blade screw driver to push the factory emblem mounting tabs through the slots in the factory grille to remove the emblem. 5b 5b. Using a small flat blade screw driver, bend down the emblem mounting tabs in the emblem bezel plate to allow for installation of the factory emblem. 3
5c 5e 5d 5c. Apply the die cut double faced tape (where shown) to the face of the emblem bezel plate. 5d. Peel off the double faced tape backing applied to the emblem bezel plate. Align the emblem bezel ring over the bezel plate, making sure the mounting studs pass through the holes in the plate. Once the ring is flush around the outside edge of the plate, press the parts together. 5e. Align the factory emblem into the bezel assembly, making sure it is centered and that all mounting tabs fit through the openings in the bezel plate. Use a small flat blade screw driver to push the tabs that were bent in Step 5b back to help secure the factory emblem into the bezel plate. 5f 5g 6 5f. Install the emblem assembly onto the back of the Mesh or Dual Weave Mesh grille section using the supplied black plastic washers (trimmed as shown to keep visibility to a minimum) and 8-3 ESNA half nuts. 6. You must trim the back edge of the factory lower mounting channel for rivet clearance. 7. Use masking tape to tape up to the edge of grille opening and the radiator support panel. Scuff the factory grille opening recess with a scotch brite pad. Apply flat or semigloss black paint to everything inside the grille opening.
0 8 8. Once the paint is dry, install the 3 piece of / x 3/ single side foam tape into the edge of the grille mounting channel (were shown). 9. Remove the 0mm hex bolts retaining the upper radiator mounts and remove them from the vehicle (not shown). 0. Carefully align the Z grille (Mesh grille shown, 3D Z grille installation is the same) into the grille opening, making sure the bottom and sides of the grille fit into the factory mounting channel. IMPORTANT: You must bend the hood latch back far enough to clear the top mounting plate.. Tighten the six (6) pre-installed #0- thread cutting hex head screws in the lower frame to keep the bumper cover tight against the grille. 5 6 3 5. Remove the push fasteners from the top of the bumper cover. 3. Pull the bumper cover as flush as possible to the chrome frame,. Drill a 3/3 hole though the hole in the upper mounting ear. 5. While holding the bumper cover tight against the frame, install the supplied #8 x / black truss head screws (one each side). 5 6. Once the grille is screwed into place, reinstall the upper radiator brackets using the upper factory 0mm hex bolts (hand tighten only at this time).
Grille Height and depth adjustment procedure: ---- SEE NEXT PHOTOGRAPH ---- 7. To adjust the height of the mesh grille to minimise the gap between the frame and the hood cap: slide the top mounting plate back will close the gap, pulling the top mounting plate forward will increase the gap. Once satisfied with the grille to hood gap,tighten the upper radiator bracket bolts 8. To adjust the depth of the frame so that it aligns with the factory hood cap: Loosen the phillips screws (hold the ESNA lock nuts with a 3/8 wrench) and slide the adjusting plate in or out until the frame is flush with the factory hood cap. Once properly aligned, tighten the adjustment screws. 9. Remove the hood bumpers from the factory grille and install them onto the E&G adjusting plate. 7 9 8 7 0 0. Once the grille is properly aligned and completely tightened, reinstall the underhood panels removed in step.. For 3D Z grilles, proceed to the lower grille installation. 3 6. Raise the front of the STS to a comfortable working level and support with jack stands (not shown). 3. Remove the push fasteners from the lower plastic pan underneather the front end and remove the pan from the STS (locations not shown).. From underneath, remove the factory lower grille metal retaining clips from the mounting tabs. You will then be able to remove the lower factory mesh grille from the bumper cover. 5 5. Use a small flat blade screw driver to seperate the top and sides of the factory lower grille frame. 6. Remove the factory mesh insert from the plastic frame. 7, 8 7. Install the 3D Z (shown) or Black mesh lower grille into the plastic factory frame and snap the frame back together to secure the Z grille. 8. Reverse the removal procedure to install the assembled lower back into the bumper cover. Reinstall the lower panel and lower the car to finish.
