RECAP OF SEPTEMBER SERVICE PROJECT Limestone Cnyon - September 13-15, Due to week of record-breking rins (including over 5.3 inches in Socorro, ner our project site!) the Forest Service unfortuntely cnceled AWF s September project. However, nine hrdy volunteers who hd plnned to ttend the project decided to go hed nd spend the weekend cmping in the Sn Mteo Mountins. Enjoy these before nd fter photos! We pln to post more on the AWF website. All were tken either September 16, or September 14,. See you there in 2014! When we visited Limestone Cnyon on Sturdy morning, we were mzed t how high the flows were: bnkful nd in some res, overflowing the bnks! Even the smll tributry Fisher Cnyon ws rging river. It ws remrkble opportunity to see how the mny rock structures AWF volunteers hve built in pst yers function in hevy flows. We re very excited to return gin next yer to see wht the cnyon looks like in the ftermth of this record precipittion nd to continue to build on our pst efforts.
