About AFTS calming, restorative, healing arts Since 2006, the Arts for the Spirit Program (AFTS) has provided an environment of healing and comfort to our patients, visitors and staff through the visual and performing arts. Through art gallery exhibitions and musical performances we seek to create a restorative atmosphere in our hospitals and care sites which renew the human spirit. Arts for the Spirit galleries are located at: Beaumont Hospital - Dearborn Beaumont Hospital - Grosse Pointe Beaumont Hospital - Wayne Beaumont Hospital - Taylor Beaumont Hospital - Trenton Oakwood Physical Therapy and Wellness Center - Dearborn An Invitation The Arts for the Spirit Program is seeking artwork submissions for the 2016 exhibition year. AFTS seeks artwork that creates a peaceful, restorative and healing atmosphere. The artwork we present in our galleries must complement the healing process, reduce stress and provide a pleasant distraction to all who encounter it. Sensitivity to our primary viewing audience (patients, visitors and staff) is our highest priority. AFTS will accept 2-D and 3-D entries for exhibition in watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, ink, pencil, photography, fiber, metal, wood, stone, fired media such as ceramic, glass or clay, or mixtures of these media. Entry Requirements Selections will be made from entries received electronically or by mail Individual artists are invited to provide professional quality images. Only submit images that reflect the proposed exhibit. Successful exhibits have a cohesive focus, theme or feel All images will be approved before delivery of artwork. Extra or different artwork will not be accommodated Digital images must be saved as JPG files (No TIF files)
JPG files must be 300 dpi and sized to approximately 3-by-5 inches All submissions must include the Artist Information form, Proposed Artwork Exhibition Log and an Artists Biography Only approved images will be accepted at time of delivery. Delivering artwork other than that approved will delay exhibition Exhibit Details AFTS will coordinate and install all exhibits 2-D exhibit gallery panels measure 42 high and 45 to 94 wide 3-D exhibit display cases range in size from 17 w 17 h 17 d, to 17 w 17 h 36 d Exhibits are on display for approximately 12 weeks AFTS reserves the right to alter an exhibit at any time AFTS insures artwork while on hospital premises and during storage before after exhibitions AFTS uses a museum quality security system All artwork must be framed and/or ready to install 2-D works must be framed using Nielsen type metal frames with standard 3/8 open back channels. Wood frames at least 3/4 wide are also acceptable. Unframed, stretched canvases are acceptable with a painted or finished edge Clip-on frames are not acceptable AFTS utilizes special framing for fragile 2-D artwork Artwork Delivery Artists are responsible for the delivery of their artwork to and pick-up from the Arts for the Spirit workroom. Appointments are required for artwork delivery and pick-up Sales Artwork sold during the exhibition will be assessed a 35% commission to the Oakwood Foundation for the support of health and wellness education programs Sales inquiries will be directed to AFTS and the artist will be notified of all sales All sales will be transacted at the conclusion of the exhibition Artwork need not be for sale to be eligible for exhibition Artist Information Form Artist s Name:
