BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Members of the Weller and Hoaglin families who are mentioned prominently in the collection include Harry D. Weller (1911-1998), Ruth S. Hoaglin Weller (1909-2007), Pearl Hoaglin (1880-1957), Hallie Hoaglin (1882-1973), and Leila Hoaglin (1903-1992). Harry D. Weller was born in Richmond, Indiana, and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana from 1929-1933 where he was also a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. After graduating from Indiana University, Harry married Ruth S. Hoaglin in Marion, Indiana in 1940 and served as Captain for the U.S. Army in World War II. Pearl Hoaglin was born in Van Wert County Ohio in 1879. He and his family moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana by 1900. Pearl married Hallie Stephenson in 1902. Together they had four children, Leila (1903-2007), Ruth (1909-2007), Raymond (1913-1978), and Frances (b. 1916-?). Materials in the collection related to the Hoaglin family include church records and a Sunday school certificate, family photographs, photographs related to Pearl Hoaglin's work at the Crawfordsville Electric Light and Power Plant, World War II ration stamp book, and Pearl Hoaglin's death and funeral records. This collections also contains several artifacts related to the Weller and Hoaglin families that include: a 1976 Bicentennial Flag, two Methodist Church School Award pins, American Red Cross Blood Drive pins, two Indiana University Emeritus pins, and a child's hand embroidered vest.
