SMETE ADJUSTMENT 41 Test Equipment equired (1) Standard Signal Generator (SSG) 42 Adjustment Procedures (1) Connect SSG output to antenna jack. (2) Set MODE SWITCH to USB. (3) Set BAND SWITCH to 14., SEGMENT SWITCH at 2/3, and tune the main dial to recive 14.2 MHz signal. (4) Turn F GAIN CONTOL fully clockwise. (5) Turn F ATT CONTOLL fully clockwise. (6) Tune PESELECT knob to obtain maximum nois output. (7) Set SSG frequency at other than 14.2 MHz and keep minimum output level. (8) Turn potentiometer 387 in the IF unit fully counterclockwise. Then, return it slowly clockwise and stop just befor SMeter start moving. (9) Feed 4 db of 14.2 MHz unmodulated output to tranciver, and turn the dial to obtain maximum SMeter readings. (1) Adjust potentiometer 389 on the IF unit, so that the SMeter indicator S9 readings. (11) Set SSG Output at 8 db. (4) Get maximum SMeter or mv readings by adjusting tuning coils as indicated (L21 L213) on each band. (5) Control SSG output during this process to make adjustment easier. UNIDEN 22 CAUTION (1) During transmitter tuning, do not keep the final tube running untuned for a long period of time. Make quick adjustment of PLATE and LOAD controls. Preparations Take out Generator Unit (PC8) and put a SEVICE EXTENSION BOAD in its place, then connect the GENEATO UNIT to the EXTENSION BOAD. 33. (1) Connect F voltage meter the (F VTVM) to Pin 16 of J18. (2) Adjust L51 to get maximum meter readings. (3) emove F VTVM and connect frequency counter to Pin 16 of J18. (4) Set MODE SWITCH to USB, and adjust trimmer capacitor C541 so that the frequency counter indicates 6,187. khz. (5) Set MODE SWITCH to TUNE, and adjust trimmer capacitor C542 so that the counter reading indicates 6,187.75 khz. Sid 8 (26)

(4) Turn CAIE CONTOL knob fully clockwise. (5) Set STANDBY SWITCH to MANU. (6) Adjust L51 for maximum VFVM indication. It will indicate around.2v r.m.s. (7) eset CAIE CONTOL fully counterclockwise and STANDBY SWITCH to PTT. (8) Connect AG output to the microphone jack and provide 1,5 Hz, 1 mv output. (9) Set MODE SWITCH to USB. (1) Turn MIC GAIN CONTOL fully clockwise. (11) Set STANDBY SWITCH to MANU. (12) Adjust L54 for maximum meter indication. It will indicate around,3v r.m.s. 35. Balanced Modulator Alignment. (1) This alignment should be taken place after completion of OUTPUT METE adjustment (51, 52). *(2) Obtain maximum output at 14.2 MHz. (3) Set MODE SWITCH to USB. (4) Connect F meter to antenna jack. (5) Make sure that MIC GAIN CONTOL is set fully counterclockwise. (6) Set STANBY SWITCH to MANU and adjust 53 for the minimum meter indication. (7) Change MODE SWITCH to LSB and USB by yurns, and make presise tuning by adjusting 53 to get equal meter readings on both modes. 36. AM Modulation Adjustment (1) This alignment also should be made after completion of OUTPUT METE adjustment (51, 52). *(2) Obtain maximum output at 14.2 MHz. (3) Set MODE SWITCH to AM (4) Set STANDBY SWITCH to MANU. (5) Turn CAIE CONTOL to get 12 mv reading on the meter. (6) Connect AG output to microphone jack and provide 1,5 Hz, 1 mv output. (7) Set MIC GAIN CONTOL to 3 o clock position. (8) Use Oscilloscope to observe output envelope. (9) Adjust 59 to keep about 8% of output modulation level. Sid 9 (26)

(2) 6V DC Power Source: Connect the meter to Pin 5 of J651, and check that the meter reading indicates within 5.5 6.5V. This process should be made after completion of (1) as mentioned above. (3) 5V DC Power Source: Connect the meter to Pin 9 of J651 and adjust potentiometer 653 to get 5V +.2.1V of meter readings.
